In the cruise port of St Petersburg 2 days are simply not enough. When you drive down the streets you are charmed
by the beautiful gold domes on so many of the buildings. Unlike so many ports, St Petersburg is not so easy to do on your own. You will need a visa, which you need to get in advance. If you prefer not to do so, you will either need to take a ship tour, or pre-reserve your tour with one of the local travel agencies, as these operators will provide the visa for you.
One such operator is TJ Travel. Your days will be long, 10 plus hours, but the sight are outstanding. There is a canal cruise with champagne, a before hours tour of the hermitage, a museum that rivals the Louvre in scale The Church of the Spilled Blood is a wonder, and it is hard to fathom that at one time potatoes were stored in this building, nearly ruining it. Also unlike any other, is the subway system, located very far below ground because of the natural terrain, and complete with artwork & chandeliers. Their hydrofoil sails over the water, and is a fun way to get to the castles located on the outskirts of town. From the included meals to the well informed tour guide, a tour with TJ Travvel is an exceptional product. .
