Granville Island is a great day trip for Vancouver sightseeing. Arrive by car, or skip looking for a parking spot and take the ferry.
The art scene is thriving on Granville Island. With a warehouse district feel, the studios, and galleries invite you to explore. Window shop, or find a treasure, there is no shortage of options here.
Discover Sea Village. These are not your typical houseboats. Stroll down the piers, and marvel at these multiple story wonders. Imagine what it must be like to live in one. Does something that big rock with the waves? Only the owners know for sure.
Visit the Granville Island Public Market. A dizzying array of merchandise piled high. Whether you want produce, cheese, fresh seafood, handcrafted wood, handblown glass, or a great bottle of wine, you can find it all here. Just wander through the aisles and take in the atmosphere. Better still, assemble a picnic to be savored later.
Finally take your picnic, and head to Ron Basford Park, 1218 Cartwright Street. A little quiet oasis on an island that boasts lots of shopping opportunities, this is a great place to sit and wind down. Or just find a quiet bench in the shopping district and enjoy.
