The BEST Suitcase I’ve Ever Had (Finally!)

I’ve had a LOT of suitcases over the years, and some of them have been destroyed on the very first journey! Sound familiar?

But, a year ago, I discovered a luggage brand called Level8 and I’ve not looked back.

Level 8 suitcase

I was recently gifted their new ‘Voyageur’ suitcase and I can finally say – this is the one.

Here’s why this is THE suitcase that I’ll take on every cruise from now on…

1. It’s SO Stylish… and Sturdy!

Let’s start with the looks…

Level8 Voyageur review

The Voyageur comes in five gorgeous colours, but I went with yellow. In the past, someone drove half-way home from Southampton with my suitcase and I’d just rather not go through that saga again.

The textured finish gives it a premium, scratch-resistant look that actually holds up after being chucked around by baggage handlers. I know this because I have have another set of Level8 case, the Luminous, which I’ve been using since last year and they still look as good as new!

2. The Wide Handle Is A Game-Changer

This is where the ‘Voyageur’ sets itself apart  from my older case, ‘Luminous’. The wide handle design is an absolute revelation.

Instead of two bars running up the back like most cases, the Voyageur has a single wide handle built along the edge.

Why does this matter? Because it gives you a completely flat base inside the suitcase. This means there is no awkward bulges or wasted space, and your clothes stay crease-free too.

3. It Glides Like a Dream

Let’s talk about the wheels. I’ve had luggage in the past that technically had spinner wheels, but still managed to clatter louder than a conga line of castanets.

Not this one. The Voyageur’s 360° spinner wheels are genuinely whisper-quiet. They glide smoothly over every surface I’ve tried. It rolls effortlessly.

My kids love to push a suitcase, and with other brands of four-wheel suitcases, I’ve had to say no because they just push it over. However, with Level 8 cases, they can happily push a suitcase that’s heavier than they are, and it will never fall over!

4. Built to Last (And Then Some)

Made with German Makrolon polycarbonate, this case is both super lightweight and ridiculously tough.

That material is the same high-performance plastic used in car headlights and protective gear – so it’s no surprise that it’s passed the brand’s stringent quality tests.

And if anything does go wrong? You’re covered with a lifetime warranty on the wheels, shell, zips, and handles.

5. Spacious and Neat Compartments

I have the Voyageur 28” which has plenty of room for everything you’ll need for a 7-14 night cruise.

My next trip is 10 nights and I’m taking the Voyageur 28″ and the Luminous 28″ for a family of four. We will be doing some laundry on the ship, but if you prefer not to wash clothes and like a new outfit every day and night, then the Voyageur 28″ is also a great size for one person for a 7-night cruise.

There are more sizes too – it also comes in 30” and 26”, as well as a 20” carry-on size.

Inside, you’ll find compression straps to keep things neat and dual zipped pockets for small bits and pieces.

I also LOVE the wet/dry pocket. This is ideal for stashing a damp swimsuit on disembarkation day! That waterproof section is a lifesaver if you fancy a final dip in the ship’s pool before heading to the airport.

6. Safe and Secure for Stress-Free Travel

The TSA-approved lock means you can secure your suitcase without worrying about customs hacksawing it open. I found the lock easy to set, use, and reset – and the zip pulls slot in snugly, so they won’t get snagged in transit.

There’s also something reassuringly solid about the zip itself – not flimsy or cheap-feeling like some other cases I’ve tried.

Final Verdict: ★★★★★ (Seriously)

This suitcase ticks all the boxes:

✅ Stylish and standout
✅ Light but tough
✅ Rolls like a dream
✅ Clever internal layout
✅ Space-saving wide handle
✅ Built to last – and guaranteed

Honestly? It’s the best suitcase I’ve ever used – and I’ve tried plenty over the years.

The wide handle feature, the durability, interior space, silent wheels, and waterproof compartment… it’s just a brilliant all-rounder.

So if you’re gearing up for your next cruise (or five), I highly recommend the Voyageur.
