Two cruise passengers are facing criminal charges after authorities say a late-night confrontation escalated into an alleged forced entry and assault inside another guest’s stateroom at Port Canaveral.
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspects as Gannon Jacox and Brooklyn Hicks. According to Sheriff Wayne Ivey, the incident began after the couple had been arguing loudly following alcohol consumption and another passenger asked them to keep the noise down.
Authorities allege Hicks then confronted the other guests while Jacox followed with his phone and recorded the encounter. Investigators say the pair subsequently pushed their way into the victims’ stateroom, where three people were inside, including a 9-year-old child.
The sheriff’s office says Jacox struck all three occupants during the confrontation, including the child, while Hicks also allegedly threw punches. None of the victims was reported to have suffered serious injuries.
Jacox and Hicks were arrested and booked into the Brevard County Jail on August 15. Local reporting based on arrest records says Jacox faces charges that include burglary with assault, child abuse without great bodily harm and misdemeanor battery, while Hicks faces burglary-related and misdemeanor battery charges.
As with all criminal cases, the allegations remain accusations unless and until proven in court.
One important detail remains unresolved: authorities have not publicly identified the cruise ship or cruise line involved. Several ships were at Port Canaveral around the time of the arrests, but that alone is not enough to determine where the incident occurred. Cruise Addicts therefore does not name a ship or cruise line unless law enforcement or the operator confirms it.
Cruise Addicts will continue to monitor the case for additional details, including confirmation of the ship involved and any response from the cruise operator.
