Royal Caribbean Unveils Hero Of The Seas As Fourth Icon-Class Mega Ship

Royal Caribbean has confirmed plans for its next record-setting cruise ship, revealing that its fourth Icon-class vessel will be named Hero of the Seas and will debut in August 2027 from Miami.

Hero of the Seas

The newbuild, which will measure 248,663 gross tonnes, continues the line’s push into ultra-large, family-focused ships and will follow in the footsteps of Icon of the Seas, Star of the Seas and the forthcoming Legend of the Seas.

However, while the overall concept remains consistent, Hero of the Seas will introduce a range of new features alongside familiar highlights from the class.

Bookings are set to open first for Crown & Anchor Society members on 1st April 2026, followed by general sales on 2nd April 2026.

More Dining And Entertainment Experiences

A key addition on board will be the Orleans Parish Supper Club, a New Orleans-inspired dining venue offering multi-course menus paired with live jazz and craft cocktails.

Drawing on the atmosphere of the French Quarter in the early 20th century, the venue will serve Cajun and Creole cuisine and represents the latest evolution of Royal Caribbean’s themed supper club concept.

The ship will feature a total of 28 dining venues, combining new concepts with established favourites such as Izumi, Chops Grille and Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar.

Casual options including Sorrento’s, El Loco Fresh and Basecamp will also return, alongside the AquaDome Market food hall, which will introduce four new stalls in addition to returning outlets like Crème de la Crêpe and Simply Pressed.

Royal Railway – Hero Station will also be installed, marking the third ship in the fleet to feature the immersive, train-themed dining experience that blends storytelling, technology and cuisine.

Elsewhere, a new venue in the Surfside neighbourhood will host hands-on cooking classes aimed at families, offering a mix of beginner and more advanced culinary sessions.

Expanded Attractions And Accommodation Options

Hero of the Seas is set to further expand the activity offering that has defined the Icon class. The Category 6 waterpark will debut two new family raft slides, including what Royal Caribbean describes as the first funnel raft slide at sea.

The ship will also introduce Coconut Cove, a new Caribbean-inspired pool located near The Lime and Coconut bar.

The Hideaway on Hero of the Seas

Thrill attractions will return, including Crown’s Edge, a combination of skywalk and zip line suspended 154 feet above the ocean, as well as the FlowRider surf simulator, rock climbing walls, mini golf and multi-sport courts.

Accommodation will see further innovation with the introduction of the Ultimate Family Treehouse, a three-level suite designed for multi-generational groups.

Caribbean Itineraries From Miami

Hero of the Seas will operate seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries from Miami, with every sailing including a visit to Royal Caribbean’s private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.

Ports of call are expected to include destinations such as Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico, Roatán in Honduras, as well as Philipsburg in St Maarten and Charlotte Amalie in St Thomas.

The ship will form part of Royal Caribbean’s rapidly expanding Icon-class programme, which continues to redefine the upper limits of cruise ship size and onboard offerings, particularly for the family market.
