Carnival Cruise Line is kicking off its second summer Fun‑ternship Program, giving more than 100 high school students ages 17 and older hands-on experience in cruise terminal operations at six U.S. homeports – Baltimore, Tampa, Jacksonville, Norfolk, New York City and Long Beach. The program builds on the success of Summer 2025, when students across those homeports successfully completed the Fun-ternship.
Throughout the eight-week program, students will get a behind-the-scenes look at how Carnival’s cruise operations run at the port while building real-world skills and exploring careers in travel and hospitality. Fun-terns will support embarkation-day operations alongside port services team members, receive hands-on training and mentorship, gain exposure to a range of roles and earn an hourly wage. At the end of the program, everyone will take part in a ship tour and special onboard luncheon celebration with Carnival leaders.
“After seeing the enthusiasm, growth and pride of last year’s Fun-terns, we’re excited to bring this opportunity back and continue helping students develop confidence, leadership skills and real-world experience in an industry that plays an important role in their local economy,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.
Eligible students living in participating homeport communities are encouraged to apply. Applications are now open through June 8, with a limited number of positions available. The eight-week program will run between June and August, with exact dates varying by homeport city. Interested students can click here to learn more and apply.
