Holland America Line Redesigning Venue Inspired by the Golden Age of Travel

Holland America Line is redesigning its popular Ocean Bar on Oosterdam that will bring guests closer to live music in a more connected venue.

The new Ocean Bar on Oosterdam will be inspired by travel’s golden age, featuring Art Deco influences, custom furnishings and refreshed materials that blend craftsmanship with sustainability.

Custom furnishings developed specifically for Ocean Bar feature details inspired by vintage travel trunks and luggage, including leather accents that nod to the romance of classic cruising.

The new stage will showcase a wider range of programming that will range from regional soloists and pianists to Vivace Strings performances and late-night cabaret.

A redesigned bar, strategically relocated to create a stronger connection to the performances, refreshed seating, and inviting lounge spaces create an atmosphere equally suited for a signature cocktail, an evening performance, or conversation long after the music ends.

The new Ocean Bar on Oosterdam is part of Holland America Evolution, a $500 million project to upgrade six Vista and Signature class ships in the cruise line’s fleet. This is the largest fleet update in Holland America Line’s history.

Oosterdam will be the first ship to receive the upgrades that include adding Pinnacle class favorites to the vessel.

Michael Stendebach, senior vice president of food, beverage and rooms division for Holland America Line, gave the following statement:
