6 Best Cruises For Swingers

For some, enjoying a cruise comes from exploring the destinations, a show at the theatre and the food. For others, it’s about socialising with couples who share a similar openness towards adventurous sexual experiences and encounters.

Best Cruises For Swingers

Swingers cruises are a thing now

Known as ‘lifestyle cruises’, this is a unique niche within the cruise industry. Unlike standard cruises, some couples opt to go on special ‘swingers cruises’ where couples come aboard with a shared mindset and expectation.

Some of these may be nude cruises, where clothing is optional or themed cruises, where like-minded people spend time doing what they enjoy the most.

Or they could even be regular adult-only cruises, where there may be specific groups for swingers to meet other like-minded people who may identify themselves with an upside-down pineapple or pink flamingo.

The Best Cruises for Swingers

The top-rated swingers cruises provide a playful yet secure setting where passengers can freely engage in their lifestyle, surrounded by fellow travellers who share their mindset.

So, if you’re looking to book a cruise for swingers, here are the top 6 cruise lines to explore.

1. Desire Cruises

Bliss cruises often have a variety of themed nights, each offering a unique and social atmosphere. For instance, Sensual Athens is a relaxed event where guests are encouraged to dress as a casual version of themselves. The focus here is on meeting and mingling with other couples from around the world.

Carnival Vista Lido Deck Party

Finding other swingers on a Carnival cruise would be the same as for most other regular cruises, such as using the codes and symbols (upside-down pineapple or flamingo), dropping hints or joining online groups before you travel.

One thing to bear in mind is that Carnival cruises do have kids onboard, although there are some adult-only areas.

If you’re looking to book a Carnival cruise, you may also be interested in this article: How to get laid on a Carnival cruise.

How swingers cruises compare to regular cruises

Well, the key difference is the focus of the cruise. Dedicated swingers cruises, like those offered by Desire Cruises and Bliss Cruise, are designed explicitly for couples who wish to take part in the lifestyle.

That being said, I personally haven’t embarked on a swingers cruise, it’s not my scene. However, I completely respect and understand that, for some, it’s a liberating choice.

What happens on a swingers cruise…

You might be picturing an ordinary cruise but with an extra dash of spice, right? Well, you’re not far off.

Swingers cruises provide an inviting platform for couples to interact and engage with others who hold similar interests, all within a relaxed, holiday-like setting of a cruise ship.

While many swingers cruises cater primarily to couples, some do welcome singles. Some allow all single people, while others only permit solo females.

Your days can be filled with typical activities, such as lounging by the pool, enjoying the spa, or exploring port cities. But as the sun sets, the cruise transforms into an adult playground, with clothing-optional areas and private playrooms.

These cruises often host themed parties and provocative entertainment. What’s more, some cruise lines offer workshops for couples interested in exploring their boundaries or learning new things in a safe, judgement-free environment.

Not all swingers cruises allow nudity. Some offer clothing-optional areas, but others may have specific dress codes. It’s important to check with each cruise line for their specific rules.

Remember, just like any other scenario, consent is paramount. All activities are entirely optional, meaning you can engage as much or as little as you’re comfortable with.

And if you’re wondering about the passengers on these cruises – you’ll find a broad mix of couples, from those curious about the lifestyle to experienced swingers and everything in between.

How to find swingers on a regular cruise

Regular cruises with passengers not living a swingers lifestyle are often referred to as a ‘vanilla cruise’.

If you’re on a vanilla cruise and looking to meet swingers, there are a few signs and symbols known within the lifestyle to look out for. One of the most famous ones is the pineapple.

A pineapple left on a cruise ship door or even pineapple clothing or accessories can be an indication that someone is part of the lifestyle.

Another symbol is the pink flamingo, a common symbol for fun and frivolity that swingers have adopted.

But remember, subtlety and respect are key here. Not everyone on a regular cruise will be part of the community and may just like wearing colourful clothing with pineapples or pink flamingos.

Want to learn more about the lifestyle?

If you’re new to swinging, partner swapping or open relationships, or perhaps just a bit curious about it, you’ll find lots of information online.

Websites like SwingTowns.com can be a good place to start to find people in your area who are also looking for something fun and different.

The Bottom Line

Whether you’re a seasoned swinger or exploring the lifestyle, these cruises provide a variety of options to explore. They cater to an array of tastes and desires, providing a unique setting for adventure, fun, and romance.

However, if the swinger scene isn’t your cup of tea, and you prefer solo travel, rest assured that there’s an extensive selection of singles cruises to choose from as well.

The Biggest Royal Caribbean Ships

Royal Caribbean makes the biggest cruise ships in the world and so many people want to know what is the largest Royal Caribbean cruise ship.

Royal Caribbean’s largest ship is Icon of the Seas. This is the biggest cruise ship in the world, and the first of the Icon class of ships. It is 1,198 feet long, has 20 decks in total, and a capacity for 7,600 guests and 2,350 crew.

Icon of the Seas
Icon of the Seas

Icon of the Seas is significantly larger than previous record-holder Wonder of the Seas, with over 13,000 more gross tonnes of space in comparison.

And it’s the longest ship in the world too, though only by around 10 feet.

The previous record holder wasn’t Wonder, but actually Harmony of the Seas – but only by mere inches. Icon’s extra 10 feet makes it comfortably the biggest cruise ship in the world. Though she already has sister ships on order, which will likely break that record.

Generally, the newest Royal Caribbean ships will be the biggest in the world, or at least close to the top.

The Smallest Royal Caribbean Ships

The smallest Royal Caribbean ship currently operating, both in terms of gross tonnage and passenger capacity, is Grandeur of the Seas, which is also the oldest ship in the fleet.

Grandeur of the Sea can carry 2,440 passengers at max capacity and measures 73,817 tonnes.

If you love Royal Caribbean but prefer smaller ships, other ones you will enjoy are Vision, Rhapsody, Serenade, Radiance, Jewel and Brilliance. These ships won’t have all the wow-features, but they are much more relaxed, and the cruise tickets are cheaper too.

Largest Royal Caribbean Ships on Order

Royal Caribbean has several new cruise ships on order. These are either under construction in the shipyards or have agreements to be built in place.

A sixth Oasis-class ship, Utopia of the Seas, is scheduled to launch in 2024. It is expected to be a similar size to Wonder of the Seas. A seventh will then launch in 2028.

But it’s Icon of the Seas and her new class of ships that will remain the biggest – with two more Icon-class ships on order.

Royal Caribbean International has eight classes of ships. Each class has between one and five sister ships.

Each of the sister ships are very similar in design, although they may have different amenities on board, which is why some ships are heavier than their sisters.

Are the Bigger Ships Better Than the Smaller Ships?

Whether you prefer the larger ships in the Royal Caribbean fleet or the smaller ships is all a matter of personal preference. Some people love large ships because there is so much to do on board.

We cruised on Allure of the Seas for seven nights and didn’t get time to see or do everything on board. However, others might find the biggest ships a little too over-facing, preferring something a little more serene.

The biggest ships tend to be more expensive than the smaller, older ships. This means that in effect, you’re paying extra for the facilities that larger ships have. If you plan to spend most of your time relaxing by the pool or exploring ashore, then there’s no point paying more for a ship with facilities that you won’t use.

Even the small to medium size ships are still pretty big. We cruised on Mariner of the Seas for four nights and were never short of activities on board. For a short sailing like this, the mid-sized ships on the fleet are ideal.

But, who cares what I think? To find out which ships are actually the best, I collated all of the reviews from Cruise Critic, TripAdvisor and Cruiseline.com.

You can read which ships came out top, and bottom, here: Royal Caribbean Ships Ranked From Best To Worst.

A Carnival Guest’s Story of Connection

Carnival Brand Ambassador John Heald recently shared a touching message on his Facebook page that highlights the power of connection found on board a cruise ship.

Our free cruise newsletter offers the latest cruise news and deals: Sign Up

Heald, who spends a significant amount of time on Carnival cruise ships to connect with other passengers, shared a message from a guest named Sam.

Sam, a recently widowed educator who had lost his wife Hazel in January 2024, found himself facing not only grief but also isolation.

“In January 2024 I lost Hazel, my lovely wife and soul mate,” Sam wrote. “I have no friends or family. No one to talk to. I find the unremitting silence every day unbearable torture.“

Seeking solace and a return to happy memories, Sam decided to embark on a solo cruise, a decision he described as “brave.” Having previously cruised with his wife on Carnival Valor in 2018, he chose Carnival Breeze for this journey.

Before his trip, Sam reached out to John Heald, explaining his situation.  Heald, known for his commitment to guest experience, “promised to help [Sam] not have to eat dinner on his own.”

But Heald’s promise turned into something much more for Sam.

“You not only kept that promise to me,” Sam continued, “but gave me something that I have not experienced since Hazel passed on. That something John Heald and Carnival is friendship.“

After being on board the ship, Sam found himself welcomed by fellow cruisers who “took me in. We ate dinner together and we spent time around the piano with Anthony.“

The camaraderie rekindled a sense of connection Sam thought he might have lost forever.

The newfound friendships were so impactful that Sam, along with his newfound cruise companions, have already started planning their next voyage together.

Carnival cruise line pool deck

“This time on the Carnival Breeze,” Heald posted, “Sam found more than just a vacation. He found a new support system, a reminder that human connection can blossom even in the most unexpected places.“

This message highlights the importance of human connection, especially following a period of isolation like everyone went through the years following 2020.

“We work from home,” John wrote. “We have food delivered to our doors and communicate electronically.” He shared his belief that cruises offer a unique opportunity to break out of social isolation, “For many, sadly, this is perhaps the only time this happens in their lives.“

Sam’s story is a heartwarming testament to the power of human connection and the unexpected friendships that can be found at sea.

Sure, at Cruise Fever we rave about cruises being the most incredible vacations.

We love highlighting the value you get, the exciting adventures waiting aboard, and of course, the delicious food. But there’s another aspect that deserves equal praise: the amazing connections you make with fellow travelers.

Whether it’s the solo traveler still grieving over a lost spouse, or the first-time cruiser booking connecting cabins for the entire family, the connections we find at sea are some of the most refreshing and rewarding.

I don’t know about you, but this story really made me want to book another cruise.

Cruise Passenger in Grand Turk Facing 12 Years After Ammo in Luggage

For the second time this month, another American tourist has been arrested when ammunition was found in his belongings after traveling to the Caribbean island of Grand Turk.

According to news reports, 31-year-old Tyler Scott Wenrich was charged with possession of ammunition, a charge that could lead to a 12-year prison sentence.

In the United States, if ammunition is found by TSA in someone’s baggage it usually results in a fine, but Turks and Caicos has more severe punishment for such an infraction.

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force posted the story on their Facebook page with the ammunition charges and details.

Wenrich was on a cruise, visiting Grand Turk when he went through a security check point and the ammo was found.

It has not been disclosed how much ammunition or what kind of ammo was found in his possession at the time.

It also isn’t clear which cruise ship Wenrich sailed on when the incident took place, although the arrest took place on the day that Carnival Sunrise was in port at Grand Turk, according to Cruisemapper.

The court date is currently set for June 7.

This arrest follows another recent incident where a man was arrested in Turks and Caicos after security found hunting ammunition in his backpack.

In this occasion the ammo was found at the local airport on the Caribbean island.

Oklahoma resident, Ryan Watson, had reportedly forgotten about the ammunition in his bag, and it was not caught by airport security in the U.S. upon flying out of the country.

Watson is being held in Turks and Caicos and also has a June 7 court date.

Both of these men could be facing a 12-year prison sentence.

The U.S. State Department just posted on X on Wednesday to remind travelers of this very issue.

“Declaring a weapon in your luggage with an airline carrier does not grant permission to bring the weapon into the Turks and Caicos Islands and will result in your arrest,” the post read.

What to consider

When choosing internet options for travel, there are several factors that travelers must consider to ensure seamless connectivity and an optimal browsing experience. Firstly, travelers should assess the coverage and reliability of the internet service provider in their destination. Researching local carriers and their network coverage can help travelers determine which provider offers the best connectivity in their intended travel area. Opting for local SIM cards or eSIMs with data plans from local providers can often be more cost-effective than relying on international roaming with their home carrier.

It’s also important for users to safeguard their eSIM profiles and authentication information to prevent unauthorized access or SIM cloning. Finally, users should stay informed about data usage, roaming charges, and any applicable terms and conditions associated with their chosen eSIM service to avoid unexpected fees or disruptions to their connectivity.

Furthermore, travelers should evaluate the data speed and bandwidth offered by their chosen internet option, especially if they plan to stream videos, make video calls, or use other data-intensive applications while traveling. Assessing the data caps and throttling policies of different providers can help travelers avoid unexpected slowdowns or additional charges. Finally, travelers should consider the flexibility and ease of use of their chosen internet option. eSIM technology, for example, offers the convenience of remote provisioning and the ability to switch between multiple carrier profiles, making it an ideal choice for travelers seeking seamless connectivity and hassle-free internet access while on the go.

In conclusion, eSIM technology offers travelers a convenient, flexible, and cost-effective solution for staying connected while on the go. With seamless internet access, virtual phone numbers for SMS communication, and a wide range of connectivity options from top eSIM providers like eSIM Plus, travelers can enjoy peace of mind and stay connected wherever their adventures take them.
