Carnival Cruise Line is expanding a new quicker dinner service option across its fleet, giving passengers the chance to enjoy a full meal in less time while still experiencing the line’s traditional dining room service.
The cruise line’s new Express Dining programme is being introduced to help guests avoid schedule clashes between lengthy dinners and evening entertainment.
The concept delivers a multi-course meal in under 60 minutes with a slightly reduced menu, allowing passengers to move on to shows, parties and other onboard activities more quickly.
Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy said the initiative was designed in response to feedback from passengers seeking greater flexibility during their holidays.
“Our guests continue to tell us they value greater flexibility in how they spend their time on board, and Express Dining was designed with that in mind,
“Our pilot program generated positive feedback from our guests. With this in mind, we are excited to expand Express Dining to offer them the same high quality dishes and attentive service our dining rooms are known for, while giving guests the ability to use more of their time to enjoy all the other onboard fun.”

The new dining option is already available on 15 Carnival ships and will gradually expand across the entire fleet of 29 vessels. The cruise line expects the rollout to be complete by the end of May.
Passengers currently sailing on the following ships can already access the Express Dining service: Breeze, Celebration, Conquest, Dream, Firenze, Freedom, Glory, Horizon, Jubilee, Mardi Gras, Panorama, Radiance, Sunrise, Venezia and Vista.
Guests who wish to try the faster dining experience can inform their wait staff during dinner service. Those using the cruise line’s Your Time Dining option can also opt in through the Carnival Hub mobile app.
Designed To Fit Around Busy Evening Schedules
Express Dining aims to solve a common issue on cruise ships, where traditional dining room meals can take 90 minutes or longer. While many passengers enjoy the relaxed pace, others prefer a quicker option so they can attend evening shows, live music performances, dance parties, spa appointments or photography sessions.
The new service maintains the familiar multi-course structure of the main dining room experience but focuses on dishes that can be prepared and served more efficiently.
Carnival says all items will still be cooked to order to maintain food quality, even though the menu selection will be slightly smaller than the standard dining room offering. Some dishes that require more complex preparation may not be available as part of the Express Dining menu.
Popular favourites will remain available, including items such as filet mignon and grilled lamb chops, alongside a selection of appetisers, main courses and desserts.
The programme also preserves guest choice. Passengers who prefer the traditional, slower-paced dining experience can continue to enjoy the regular main dining room service with its full menu.
Building On Earlier Express Dining Experiments
The dinner service concept builds on an earlier initiative introduced by Carnival called Family Express lunch, which was first trialled on Carnival Vista at the Lido Marketplace buffet.
Following strong guest feedback, that lunch programme was expanded across the fleet in September 2025. Many passengers expressed interest in seeing a similar concept offered during dinner hours, which ultimately led to the creation of the Express Dining evening option.
There are still some limitations to the programme. Express Dining is only available for groups of six guests or fewer, as larger parties would make it more difficult for the kitchen to deliver multiple courses quickly and at the same time.
However, special dietary requirements, including allergies and other restrictions, will still be accommodated so that guests with specific needs can also use the quicker service if they choose.
