Disney Cruise Line’s special offers this week now extend into early-November 2026 — with 85 different sail dates available from a variety of departure ports, including Barcelona, Civitavecchia, Fort Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, and Vancouver. Additional special offers are also available across the domestic fleet for these sailings.

The Disney Wish continues to lead the fleet with 43 sailings (up 9 from last week), followed by the Disney Magic, which rose 3 to 21 sailings. The Disney Treasure added 6 to 28 sailings, while the Disney Wonder rebounded strongly with a gain of 10 to 13 sailings. The Disney Destiny jumped 7 to 15 sailings, the Disney Dream held steady at 6 sailings, and the Disney Fantasy remained at 5 sailings.

The Florida Resident rate jumped 2 sailings for a total of 25, the US Military Personnel offer dropped 13 to 47 sailings while the Canadian Resident offer dropped 1 to 24 sailings. The special bonus US Military offer for $250 onboard credit, announced in November, for select sailings in 2026 remains available.

Moving over to Disney Cruise Line’s other promos, the new IGT, OGT, and VGT offers valid on new bookings for select sailings with savings up to 25% off the prevailing rate remains available for select voyages this week.

The recently announced Kids half off promotion remains available with over 170 sail dates.

Finally, the extra savings for those with placeholder reservations where the standard 10% is applicable for some concierge levels on select sailings and a bump in the discount up to 25% off on select sailings remain active.

Your Day at a Glance (The Daily Schedule)
Scarlet Lady Deck Plan

Our final full day on the Scarlett lady. I woke up, looked outside; weather looks great. However… the wind seems to be an issue today. Emily headed off to the gym as usual.

Today, we are visiting in Bimini in the Bahamas, which is roughly due east of Fort Lauderdale kissing the southern edge of the Florida Straits.

This is one of those regular port of call for Virgin Voyages when sailing in the region and this serves as the cruise line’s quasi exclusive private offering. Bimini Beach Club, owned by Resorts World Bimini, is exclusive to sailors on days when a Virgin Voyages ship is in port.

We headed ashore a little after 8:00 a.m, boarding the tram to Bimini Beach Club which is about a 10-15 minute trip.

While the weather looks great in the photos, it was windy, and with the combination of air and water temperature resulted in a non-beach day for us. We wouldn’t have even been able to remove our sweatshirts.

It was however, a great morning for a Bahamian island walk. 

The beach club is a nice little area that’s included in the price of the cruise and feels more like a cruise line’s private destination than an all-inclusive beach resort day pass offering across the Bahamas and Caribbean.

There is a beach with an abundance of loungers, a centrally located pool, two eating areas, rentable cabanas, and an area reserved for Rockstar level guests (who have an exclusive area).

Given the weather conditions and early morning arrival, there were plenty of available places to sit and enjoy the day. I’d be interested in hearing how it is around 11 o’clock in the middle of the summer.

As I mentioned, there are cabanas you can rent for the day, including a unique AirStream campsite area, which looked awesome.

Beach Eats had a promising menu. Guess what was on a few of the tables… It is NOT an isolated issue in The Bahamas.

After we had made our way around the beach club, we decided to head out. We hadn’t planned to spend the day ashore, as the weather didn’t seem conducive to water activities. However, considering the different time of year, with warmer water and air temperatures, this place feels like a promising spot to spend a sunny day.

We boarded the tram and headed back to the Fishermen’s Village tram stop. This is a popular spot if you’re looking to rent a golf cart to explore other parts of Bimini. It was amusing how many golf cart vendors were vying for customers, trying to undercut each other or offer “nicer” carts. Smart consumers can leverage the competitive nature of the vendors and likely get a great deal on a golf cart, provided they’re willing to negotiate.

As for the Fisherman’s Village located on the opposite side of the island as the beach club, it resulted in nearly no wind. It was actually gorgeous stroll along the marina.

There were a few spots open, but overall it was a quiet spot with very little foot traffic. There was an open air restaurant and bar that would be a good spot on a rainy day, and a few gift shops, but no really port shopping that you’d encounter at nearly any other port of call. In a way, it was refreshing not seeing the typical stores that overtake port shopping areas selling nearly identical items.

The Bimini Beach Club is the big draw for Sailors, and likely a close second, the casino.

Ultimately, today was going to be, a day to experience more of the onboard offerings, that we haven’t been able to check out previously in the cruise.

We got back on board a little before lunchtime, so we headed out to The Galley (deck 15 aft). Aside from me grabbing a bagel for breakfast the other day, we have not experienced the area for lunch or dinner service. Yes, this area is open for dinner!

One of the things that really caught my eye was the abundance of quick grab and go boxed offerings from salads and charcuterie, to sandwiches and dessert. Emily used the QR code to place an order for a glass of rose wine, and within about 10 minutes, it was brought right over to our table!

As for the other areas in The Galley, the food is a mix of quick service and made to order stations. On the surface it kinda gives vibes of Cabanas or Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods, but it is not a self-service buffet aside from the grab and go offerings.

Emily & I had salads, then I headed over to try the panini station. Both of which were winners. We grabbed a few desserts and just had a bit or so of each item.

Although the outside temperature was climbing and the wind died down, there was more we wanted to experience onboard. We grabbed our books from the stateroom and headed to The Dock (deck 7, aft) – an open lounge area overlooking the stern.

We spent a few hours here talking, reading and enjoying a some of the different spritzes on the menu.

Between the Dockhouse and The Dock, there was a selection of light bites, and more grab and go containers from The Galley and in the Pizza Place. We did not try any, but here are some of the offerings.

Speaking of the Pizza Place, it was now or never to try a fresh pizza. Even with a light crowd, there was a solid 20-minute wait after I ordered. This is not a high volume or quick bite offering, but the pizza, for the most part was good. The margarita pizza was a winner, and while the special of the day (chicken pesto) had high potential, it was prepared with too much olive oil resulting in a soupy mess.

It’d be great if they just offered a slice, even cold in a grab and go container or just stack a few boxes up in a window. That pizza from the hallway was still good, so why not make it an official grab and go offering? Aside from the lack of instant gratification, credit to them for individually made to order pizzas for each guest.

Right outside the pizza shop is the ice cream shop, and even when there is a modest line, it moves pretty fast, ’cause it’s simple process. Ice cream served in a cup or cone,  and the best part no transaction necessary as it is included in the cruise fare. Frankly, it was absolutely delicious. This could be dangerous on longer cruises. We don’t ever partake in the ‘all you can eat’ soft serve on other cruise lines, but could see ourselves grabbing some of this quality ice cream on longer sailings (which we have coming up at the end of January).

One thing we did, just because we had the Blue Extras (loyalty level) benefit, was that we sent off a bag of laundry, which was a free loyalty perk. The Scarlet Lady does NOT have a self-service laundry so if you are packing light, your only option is to send it off. The bag is pretty big comparatively. The service did require that we document everything you put in the bag for accountability. Once it was ready, we used the stateroom tablet to request a pickup and we went on with our day.

They folded everything and the clothes were clean and fresh. Now, for $55 out of pocket for a bag of laundry is steep, but given the lack of a self service option your other option is to pack more clothes. However, Disney is a rare bird in the industry with the self service launderettes. As a loyalty perk, it’s awesome! We will definitely be using this in the future!

We also finished our stateroom puzzle (there were several missing pieces) and returned it to The Social Club.

This afternoon, a Nintendo Switch was setup on one of The Social Club’s TVs with a good guest turnout.

Before dinner, we stopped in at On the Rocks (deck 6, midship) for drinks. The band was just starting to setup and in the evening there is live music in an area with a lot of space to spread out.

Tonight, we were heading back to Lucky Lotus (Razzle Dazzle deck 5, aft). In the evening, Razzle Dazzle becomes a Scarlet Lady exclusive known as Lucky Lotus – offering an evening in the East as a modern Chinese eatery.

Unfortunately, the lighting was not conducive for photography. So, please accept my apologies for the terrible photos, but.. It is what it is in this case.

Overall, the food was indeed flavorful as advertised and a nice venue change from brunch at Razzle Dazzle.

Tonight’s big event was Rock-ehokie, featuring a 90’s-ish setlist. It was more of a live concert with the karaoke coming in the form of the sing along with the lyrics scrolling scrolling on the large screens behind the stage. We loved this. I would say this was our favorite offering of the voyage. Who knew the lyrics to Nirvana’s “Nevermind?”

And afterwards, we called it a night at the very late hour of 9 o’clock so that we could pack up most of our luggage. 

Scarlet Lady Trip Log Day 5: 4-Night Bahamian Virgin Voyages Cruise – Bimini – February 8, 2026

Our final hours onboard started with a lovely view of the Miami skyline, and easily the most picturesque ports in Florida. It’s worth stepping outside early in the morning to take in the view.

If you remember on Embarkation Day, check-in wasn’t until the afternoon for all guests, which allows a later debarkation time on the final morning. The gangway opens early, but you have until around 10:30 to leave the ship.

Depending on how you choose to enjoy your cruise, this affords a less rushed final night which I never enjoy, not because the cruise is coming to an end, but the looming final packing up and debarkation process a conga line with fellow passengers. With a later all ashore time, this created a perfect window of time early in the morning for a casual disembarkation experience.

You are not required to, but there was an option to recycle the Band. We opted to keep ours and just removed the portion with the RFID and kept the bracelet. I’m not really a bracelet wearing guy, but, you know, it’s a nice little nautical look which currently looks cool on my desk.

While we were not in a rush to get off, it was Super Bowl Sunday, and we did book the Brightline for the 9 o’clock hour departure back to Orlando.

Ultimately, we debarked a little after 7:30, and let me tell you, it was the perfect time as there were very few others leaving around this time compared to when we’ve queued up in a long line for express walk off. This morning, it was almost like a ghost ship, even outside at waiting for our rideshare it was quiet in the pickup area.

I did not do any research on the cruise line or the ship prior to boarding and this was intentional. When heading out on a new ship or cruise line, I prefer to go in without any preconceived expectations and figure it out as I go. I can do this because my wife, on the other hand, does the research and planning. For example, she took care of the dining reservations. If we do anything in port, she usually plans that as well. The main reason I choose to do it this way is to compare and contrast what I know from past cruises, which allows me to have a more in the moment impression of the experience.

VoyageFare Choices

Regarding the cost of this cruise, we initially booked an Insider stateroom, but later upgraded to a Sea Terrace.  We paid $1354 ($169pp per night), and the rate was basically what DCL calls an IGT rate – it was non-refundable, allowed no changes, etc, then, Emily put in a bid which was accepted for an upgrade to Sea Terrace for $205 total. That brings the cost of the 4-night cruise $1559 for 2 adults, which breaks down to $195 per person per day. This included all dining, gratuities and internet for both of us.

There’s no really direct comparable sailing, as Disney Cruise Line does not sail from PortMiami. However, it is fair to compare to sailings at nearby Port Everglades. For example, the closest sail dats would be the February 2nd Disney Dream or the February 5th Disney Destiny 4-Night Bahamian cruise from Fort Lauderdale. Below is a table showing the 2 Disney Cruise sailings with the Scarlet Lady sailing with price we booked and the upgrade price for a verandah compared to opening day pricing for 2 adults aboard the respective Dream and Destiny 4-night Bahamian Cruises.

The Destiny would have been a closer itinerary comparison with a port of call and a private destination while the comparable in price option on the Dream but that was only going to Nassau, but did have Florida Resident Rates for Inside and Verandah that were actually about the same per person per day (although does not include gratuities or internet). Now, the really difference on this cruise is the stop in Key West which Disney pulled from their itineraries following the local referendum that was later preempted by the State of Florida.

Ultimately, I think it was money well spent as we had an enjoyable experience with Virgin Voyages on the Scarlet Lady. 

Since we’ve started to branch out, we’ve sailed on Carnival Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean, and now Virgin Voyages – all of which have been documented in trip reports. Each have been unique with a mix of comparable and different experiments from Disney Cruise Line. Travel experiences from the destination to the food are pretty much 100% subjective in nature, we all like what we like. What works for us may not work for you and I am not in any way saying one is better than the other. My goal here is to share my experience with you and if these non-DCL trip reports are not in your wheelhouse, I totally understand. I will say sailing on other lines, I have a new perspective from across the cruise industry and there are many areas where I feel Disney can do better – first and foremost the food, followed closely by itinerary diversity within established regions especially for someone like myself that sails to go places, not the ship as a destination. And who can forget, price?

Overall, I was really impressed with our experience on Scarlet Lady and left with a high opinion of Virgin Voyages brand. I don’t know how much of my satisfaction has to do with the origin story of the line which was molded by the expertise of former Disney Cruise Line leaders, or if it was just a result of sailing on a new to me ship with a totally different set of offerings geared to adults. There were numerous dining options available, but unfortunately, we didn’t have the chance to try them all. While there were what you’d consider main restaurants to choose from each night, there were also other options available just as lite bites or stations in The Galley. Literally my biggest gripe is the silliest thing, the speed at which it takes to grab a slice of pizza, but this is negated by the fact that I can grab a box of charcuterie.

Anyway, I enjoyed nearly every aspect of our four-night cruise, and I am I’m eager to go back on a longer voyage… Our friend and traveling buddy also has a daughter the same age as ours, and initially we were not sure if this cruise would be the right vibe for them. Welp, we booked another Virgin Voyages cruise, and we are planning on booking a 3rd and we will be taking our college age daughter on that one, as we both felt bad sharing our experience with her knowing she would have had a blast. Yes, the same kid who grew up with Disney Cruise Line and is also a Pearl Castaway Club member. 

Would it work for a family? Absolutely not – because it’s not designed for children. However, for a family with young adult children, this is something worth considering. For our family dynamic, the Scarlet Lady offers the activities and events (yes, I know we did 2 puzzles on this cruise, but that is not uncommon for our family – remember the time we went to the MEGA in Cozumel to buy puzzles because we were bored onboard the Disney Treasure that cost us almost $10K for the 7n sailing) that have been lacking for our family as we tend to hang out with our daughter rather than only seeing her at dinner each night. The Scarlet Lady also offers plenty of public space to relax and unwind without the venue being taken over as an event space for an activity. There are outside and inside areas alike dedicated for this purpose. Please note, this is not necessarily criticism of one particular cruise line; venues are a premium onboard and every space needs to be utilized, I get that. However, there is becoming less and less public space dedicated to what cruising used to offer… relaxation. I will say, they had a variety of activities offered and many were well attended. It was refreshing to attend things that weren’t just trivia – the puzzle challenge was an absolute blast.

Although my sample size here is four nights, I think there’s a unique case here that Virgin Voyages is setting itself apart from the industry in a unique way. Maybe we were fortunate and the brochure/marketing matched the reality. If so, that is impressive if this is the standard experience. Anyway, Emily and I are looking forward to trying out a longer sailing on an itinerary that isn’t even offered by Disney Cruise Line, and another in the future with our daughter that is……

Disney Cruise Line’s special offers this week now extend through October 2026 — with 61 different sail dates available from a variety of departure ports, including Barcelona, Civitavecchia, Fort Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, and Vancouver. Disney Cruise Line’s special offers this week now extend into late-September 2026 — with 69 different sail dates available from a variety of departure ports, including Barcelona, Civitavecchia, Fort Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, San Diego, and Vancouver. Additional special offers are also available across the domestic fleet for these sailings.

The Disney Wish continues to lead the fleet with 24 sailings (unchanged from last week), followed by the Disney Magic, which dipped 1 to 19 sailings. The Disney Treasure held steady at 17 sailings, while the Disney Wonder remained at 16 sailings. The Disney Destiny dropped 2 to 8 sailings, the Disney Dream held steady at 8 sailings, and the Disney Fantasy fell 3 to 5 sailings.

The Florida Resident rate dropped 2 sailings for a total of 13. The US Military Personnel offer held strong adding 1 to 58 sailings. The Canadian Resident offer dropped 3 to 25 sailings, and the Southern California Resident offer dropped 3 to 1 sailings. The special bonus US Military offer for $250 onboard credit, announced in November, for select sailings in 2026 remains available.

Moving over to Disney Cruise Line’s other promos, the new IGT, OGT, and VGT offers valid on new bookings for select sailings with savings up to 25% off the prevailing rate remains available for select voyages this week, as well as select 2026 European sailings.

Disney Cruise Line’s special offers this week now extend into mid-September 2026 — with 72 different sail dates available from a variety of departure ports, including Barcelona, Civitavecchia, Fort Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, San Diego, and Vancouver. Additional special offers are also available across the fleet for these sailings.

The Disney Wish continues to lead the fleet with 24 sailings (down 4 from last week’s 28), followed by the Disney Magic, which held at 20 sailings. The Disney Treasure added 3 to 17 sailings, while the Disney Wonder dropped 3 to 16 sailings. The Disney Destiny, which debuted on this update last week, added 3 more to 10 sailings, the Disney Dream dropped 1 to 8 sailings, and the Disney Fantasy is up 2 to 8 sailings.

The Florida Resident rate added 4 sailings for a total of 15. The US Military Personnel offer held strong with 57 sailings. The Canadian Resident offer dropped 2 to 28 sailings, and the Southern California Resident offer dropped 1 to 4 sailings. The special bonus US Military offer for $250 onboard credit, announced in November, for select sailings in 2026 remains available.

Moving over to Disney Cruise Line’s other promos, the new IGT, OGT, and VGT offers valid on new bookings for select sailings with savings up to 25% off the prevailing rate remains available for select voyages this week, as well as select 2026 European sailings.

Finally, the extra savings for those with placeholder reservations where the standard 10% is applicable for some concierge levels on select sailings and a bump in the discount up to 25% off on select sailings remain active.

Scarlet Lady Deck Plan

Welcome back to day 2 of the Scarlet Lady trip report, where I cannot seem to find a ship location map on the stateroom tv or on the tablet, so iOS map will have to do. Today is a sea day, and we really do not have far to sail for our next port of call tomorrow so we essentially on a slow boat to Key West and spending the morning in the Straits of Florida near Cay Sal Bank.

Emily started off as she always does at the gym. After, she came back, showered and then the morning was spent working on a puzzle we found in last night in the game cabinet at The Social. The stateroom’s desk area is not very large, but it served us well with this 500 piece cat puzzle.

I took a walk, discovering the gold standard in ice machines: a Scotsman with chewable nugget ice and water on demand up in The Galley.

The Galley is a food court of sorts on deck 15 that is much different than Cabanas or Marceline Market, as it has different quick-service locations. I would say it is more along the lines of Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods, but with with much better & elevated food. Virgin Voyages calls it a Food Hall, and there are  a mix of more than eight shops and food carts; each offering a unique concept including a bakery and pastry shop, a panini shop, a burger grill, a taco shack, a sushi bar with bento boxes, a noodle bar, a soup and salad stand, and an around-the-clock American diner. So far, and it still early in the sailing, we have found a lot of appealing spots to grab a bite. I am not sure 4-nights will be long enough experience everything on our growing list.

We made our way to deck 7 to get some coffee at The Grounds. They have a nice selection of pastries out in the morning, but based on our experience when there is a high demand, sailors not getting coffee are waiting a long time just to be handed a pastry which are complimentary. We like the coffee so much, we bought a bag of Virgin Voyages specialty blend beans to take home.

We met our friend over in The Social for Morning Mind Benders which turned into an entertaining activity. Initially, I figured it was just trivia, however, it is a series of brain teasers from identifying flags, figuring out sayings based on a mix of words and images and finally a word search. Teams earned points based on the order in which they correctly completed each round. It was such a fun group activity that the overall game against other teams really didn’t matter.

Afterwards we set out and walked around the ship. For a sea day, it was pleasantly quiet around the ship with plenty of places to sit back and relax without some sort of activity taking over the venue or overflowing from an adjacent space.

Maybe everyone else booked the sold out Behind the Scenes tour. Seems like I saved $200 today by not doing my homework because this sounds like a great experience.

We had a bit of an issue with the app, as it was not allowing us to reserve an activity so we headed down to Sailor Services AKA Guest Service which is tucked away on deck 5. It didn’t have a line, which was awesome and it turns out it was a rather simple glitch in the app and we were reserved, but the app was not updating to show we were booked, which is why we were getting the error each time we tried to reserve. Sailor Services also had a table with a QR code for information on the WiFi, a stack of ship deck plan map brochures and a pile of printed schedules. Now the paper is that thin low weight copy paper, but it serves the purpose of presenting basic schedule information.

On deck 7 midship, there is an area called The Roundabout with a grand spiral staircase. In that area, is a record shop where you can listen to music on a number or record players all set up with headphones. Additionally, today there was a Scarlet Lady Artist Scavenger Hunt inviting sailors to seek out 3 places onboard for a chance at a special prize. We have plans coming up soon so need to put this on the back burner for later… However, later never happened due to time and other plans.

While we still had some time I modeled by brand new medium hoodie and took my turn painting some of the mural. It’s like painting the mural at Epcot, but without the line and with paint markers instead of a paint brush.

It was now time to head to the Razzle Dazzle on deck 5 aft for brunch, which is included in the cruise fare and not an extra charge. The name is derived from the type of camouflaging pattern painted on warships during WWI and WWII in an attempt to confuse U-boats.

The daytime menu offers a largely vegetarian, contemporary American fare. The “nice” menu puts a flip on traditional dishes by offering plant-based vegetarian and vegan alternatives to classic dishes and dishes can be made “naughty” with meat add-ons or boozy shots.

The food was well seasoned and prepared. Coupling that with excellent we had an enjoyable time and we didn’t even partake in the bottomless brunch offering.

Walking near The Pizza Place, I stopped in to check out today’s special to see it was a 5 Formaggi. Too bad we just had brunch, because there was currently a very short wait for pizza.

One spot on the ship that is quite popular is Lick Me Till… Ice Cream serving up some complimentary ice cream in either cups for flavored waffle cones. This has got to be the finest included ice cream on the high seas and frankly… better than some on other cruise lines who charge an extra fee.

We spent some time outside on deck 7, where there are loungers and couches. The weather was cool, but still not bad to be outside. The captain is doing a good job at avoiding rain showers in the area and keeping us in fair weather ahead of the bad weather forecast later this evening. It is nice to have areas like this outside that are not on the pool decks to relax and enjoy some outdoor fresh air. As a family who usually cruises in inside staterooms, this is refreshing to see.

You have got to be kidding me… They have a Speed Puzzle Challenge this afternoon!!! It was so well attended, that they ran out of puzzles and encouraged late arrivals to join existing teams. The activity was simple; teams were all issued identical 300-piece puzzles and it was a race to be the first to complete. There was some tough competition and the winning team completed the puzzle in about 20 minutes. Lessons were learned and we will make sure next time we set up at a large table to make it easer to sort and work on the puzzle.

Also really impressed all the puzzle pieces were still in the boxes! This was an AMAZING activity offering!

I mentioned that The Social Club has a counter where you can get some sweet treats, but they also serve some food including a soft pretzel. Lots of options onboard for snacking, but not enough time to try everything. However, the camera did eat as this was sitting on the counter waiting for another sailor to enjoy.

Down the corridor on the same deck is Sip, a champagne lounge with a morning menu featuring coffee, libations, tea hand crafted by a barista, afternoon tea, and well as evening caviar service. There is bar seating, with the majority of the seating along the portholes and along the interior wall separated by starboard walkway on deck 7. The setup kinda reminds me of The Rose, but bigger and in a centralized location.

We contemplated indulging in afternoon tea, but time was running short ahead of our next scheduled activity, plus, we were still full from brunch. Given more time, this experience looks promising and we are adding it to the list for next time.

We made our way to The Manor around 3:15 for the 3:30 Lights, Camera, Drag! and the venue was standing room only. We eventually discovered stairs to the balcony, which was standing room only as well. We ended up finding a spot to stand and peer through the railings and over the shoulder of guests seated along the balcony railing. I was fully expecting a more adults-only risqué show, but it was for the most part subjectively family-friendly. This seems to be a popular event onboard so the lesson was learned: arrive really early if you want a seat, arrive early if you want to get a good place to stand, and anything later, plan better next time. The performer was super talented and featured lots of songs from familiar movies.

Tonight’s theme is Scarlet Night, which is best described by the following from the cruise line’s website:

As the sun sets over the deep and expansive sea, something red and electrifying is bubbling beneath the surface, ready to elevate your luxurious, adults-only cruise event into a spectacle more alluring and enchanting than you even thought possible. Scarlet Night is a full ship activation, complete with pop-ups, flash mobs, secret bars, karaoke, shadow performances, pool parties, and high-energy beats to keep you dancing into the starry night.

I happen to have a lot of scarlet in my wardrobe, so this is an ideal theme for me! We decided to return the photogenic entrance corridor of The Manor to take some pictures. 

Status update, I am still liking The Band which comes in the standard issue scarlet and a more exclusive black primary for those staying in a RockStar Quarters (suites).

It may be Scarlet Night, but we are switching hues for dinner and heading to Pink Agave – an elevated Mexican restaurant with a design inspired by the vibrant streets of Mexico City. Pink Agave offers a variety of Mexican specialties, including tlayudas, memelas, sopes, tortas, esquites, tamales, and an expansive array of tequilas and mezcals.

We were seated near a large porthole table with a lovely sea view where we could see the weather starting to change.

The Pink Agave beverage menu is extensive with pages for cocktails, beer, wine, and a substantial selection of mezcals and tequilas. So many choices! The table enjoyed the Sol De Fuego Margarita.

Tonight our server took our orders separately, unlike last night where our server essentially served a wide selection for everyone to share.

The snack mix, at least that is what I think it is meant to be, was delicious, but awkward to eat with various sized bits and pieces. Do we spoon it in our hand and toss in our mouths or do we take spoonfuls and eat it like cereal from a communal bowl? Really, what is the proper method of consumption here? it was so good, that the server offered to send us with some to-go!

Overall, dinner was adequate. The flavors were not as robust as advertised, but the quality of ingredients and the preparation made up for it.

After dinner, I was drawn to the arcade, where I relived my youth for a bit.

There was a Scarlet Night featured drink named ‘High on Life’ with advertisements on all of the tables in The Social. The cocktail is made up of Ketel One Citron Vodka, Aperol, strawberry, citrus, sparkling water, and a touch of sparkle.

I been referencing the weather today more than usual and that is because we knew the was coming, the Captain even said something about it on embarkation day. This evening weather is not great and the outdoor areas of the ship were closed off due to high winds and rain. Thus, Scarlet Night festivities have been moved indoors.

While there are no characters to meet onboard the Scarlet Lady, Elmo did get to meet Chris at the onset of Scarlet Night, as the ship would soon transform with a red glow.

We spent the evening hanging out in Sip enjoying some drinks and conversation. I did slip away to the Draught Haus, which surprising did not have a line!

We ended the night before the party really got going and rested up for our day ashore in Key West, a port which we have not visited since the fall of 2011. Overall, it was a lovely, fun evening!

Scarlet Lady Deck Plan

Welcome back to an all new trip report as we are once again sampling a new offering from Miami as we set sail on Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady for a 4-Night Bahamian Fire and Sunset Soiree cruise to The Bahamas. During this extended weekend voyage, we will be sailing to Key West, Florida and Virgin Voyages’ signature Beach Club in Bimini, Bahamas.

I hope you enjoy this non-Disney Cruise trip report, as we continue to expand our cruise experiences seeing what other lines and ships offer to get a better perspective on the cruise industry. This trip report will range from what we did each day to direct comparisons to our Disney cruising experiences, obviously from an adults only perspective, which is not uncommon on DCL. Again, no hard feelings if this is not the content you are seeking by visiting a blog primarily focused on Disney Cruise Line. For those of you remaining, thank you for following along! Now, let’s embark on this trip report.

According to the cruise line, Virgin Voyages’ first fleet is known as the “Lady Ships,” a play on the term ‘your ladyship,’ giving a nod to Virgin’s British heritage. The fleet includes Scarlet Lady, Valiant Lady, Resilient Lady, and Brilliant Lady. Scarlet Lady, the line’s first ship, was delivered on February 14, 2020, and entered service in August 2021. The Virgin Voyages fleet is exclusively adults only (18 and up). Scarlet Lady is a little smaller than the Dream-class ships coming in at 110,000 GT with 2,770 passengers based on double occupancy with 1,100 crew members.

Virgin Voyages was founded with seasoned leadership expertise sourced from Disney Cruise Line as well as The Walt Disney Company. At the top is Tom McAlpin, a founding member of Disney Cruise Line’s original management team who served as Vice President of Finance and Business Development, Senior Vice President of Operations, and for his final 5 years with Disney Cruise Line, served as President. In 2015, McAlpin joined Virgin Group as the founding CEO of Virgin Voyages, leading the brand through ship design, construction, and launch. He retried from the role of CEO in 2023 and now serves as Board Chairman for Virgin Voyages.

Up next from Disney is Michelle Bentubo, Virgin Voyages’ Chief Operating Officer (appointed in 2023) originally joining the line in 2016. Bentubo previously held executive roles at Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line. Upon her start with Virgin Voyages, Bentubo established a technology vision from startup through launch, creating a digital-first experience with a focus on customer-centric design through technology.

Time to level up on technology with Andy Schwalb who serves as Chief Information Officer & Chief Technology Officer. Schwalb was Senior Vice President and head of technology initiatives at The Walt Disney Company where he worked on bringing the MagicBand experience to life before joining Virgin Voyages in 2015.

Batting cleanup, is Anders Karlsson the Vice President of Hotel Operations (since June 2021). He started at Disney Cruise Line in 1998 and progressed through key hospitality roles, including Restaurant Manager, Dining Manager, and Senior Manager of Hotel Operations, before joining Virgin Voyages in 2016 as Director of Hotel Services.

Not a bad lineup, right? These executives brought their Disney honed expertise in finance/operations, guest experience, technology, and hotel/dining operations to help shape Virgin Voyages’ innovative, adults-only approach. According to their respective LinkedIn profiles, they bring over 60 years of combined experience from The Walt Disney Company.

Our trip to Miami started with a quick ride over the Orlando International Airport where we boarded a Brightline train for a relaxing trip to South Florida.

PortMiami is minutes from the Miami Brightline station and we simply requested a Lyft as it was cheaper than Uber. In our recent trips, it seems that Lyft is cheaper in Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

Boarding for Virgin Voyages generally starts in the afternoon after 2 o’clock. We selected a 2:30PM arrival time when checking in online and arrived at the terminal at 2:50PM. At this time, the wave of 2:30PM arrivals subsided and the exterior queue was holding guests for the 3PM window. This allowed us to walk right in the front door without a wait!

Between the Lyft and the check in area, the handle on a well traveled carry-on bag broke. Thanks for the memories, your Disney Fantasy inspired and easy to find design will be missed.

The arrival and check-in process was a breeze. While there was a line inside the terminal, there were plenty of staff available to check in the arriving parties.

Each guest, or in Virgin’s world, SAILOR is provided with The Band – a simple wearable rope bracelet with an RFID tag to use across the ship. Think of this like a DisneyBand+ (MagicBands) or a Key to the World Card. Now, I very much dislike wearing MagicBands on ships or at the theme parks. I am perfectly content using the plastic card which always works. Anyway, this rope bracelet was forgettable in a good way and I did not mind it at all. You can even remove the RFID section and have a nice little anchor bracelet as a souvenir.

The security line moved extremely fast and they didn’t even question our (2) allotted wine bottles in our broken carry-on bag. We were sailing in calm water between waves of arriving guests, which meant there was a clear path to the ship, but there is a nice little waiting area with plenty of outlets to charge your devices in the terminal.

In about 25 minutes after walking into the Terminal, we were boarding the ship! The first order of business was to complete the muster drill. However, I failed and didn’t pre-watch the required video assuming that it was required at the stateroom level.

Once the video completed, we checked in at our assigned muster station and now we are officially free to enjoy the ship.

From what I’ve read, staterooms are normally ready when you board the ship and this was indeed true today. We dropped off our stuff and one suitcase was already waiting outside the door. Let that sink in… Ok, maybe not the best word to use on ship, but we dropped our luggage with a ported outside roughly 40 minutes ago and it beat us to the stateroom. Efficiency at it’s best!!!

We initially booked an inside stateroom, but we submitted a bid in the Level Upgrade program at the lowest bid for a balcony stateroom and it was accepted! Inside the room, we found a bunch of informational documents on the desk such as a copy of the Your Day at a Glance printed schedule and times guide!

There was also a letter welcoming us back as part of the line’s loyalty program Virgin Voyages Sailing Club. But isn’t this your first Virgin Voyages cruise? Yes, it is our first Virgin Voyages cruise, but we took advantage of the Sailing Club Status Match available for Platinum and Pearl level Castaway Club members when we booked back in December of 2024 as well as other eligible loyalty programs giving us Blue Extras status. While this is awesome, the Status Match promotion window ended at the end of February 2026. However, it may be worth keeping an eye out on that linked page if they open it back up again (which they frequently do).

We weren’t alone on this cruise. We had friends sailing in other staterooms. One of them, whom we’ve cruised with several times, including with our kids (who are back on campus during this time), was sailing solo and received an invitation to a solo sailors meet-up. The letter also provided information on solo dining opportunities. 

The room was also adorned with some fun accessories such as a sextant bottle opener and wine corkscrew, an octopus, and information on beach towels when going ashore.

We unpacked our carry-on and suitcase, although we were still on the lookout for my suitcase – which seems to be a common occurrence regardless of cruise line.

The staterooms are smart with a tablet available to control the lights, TV, curtains, look up ship information, order room service, and make stateroom requests such as more towels. There is a dedicated charging stand on a shelf above the desk.

I am perfectly content in an inside stateroom, but my favorite part of this stateroom is not even inside the stateroom; it’s the chair hammock on the balcony which can be purchased onboard pending availability, directly from Yellow Leaf Hammocks or from our Amazon affiliate link.

Once our luggage was unpacked and we gave up on waiting for my suitcase, we set out to explore the ship. Starting with an afternoon stop for caffeine at The Grounds, which had a stack of Your Day at a Glance printouts available. We discovered these were available in a few places around the ship to supplement the information available from the Virgin Voyages app. If you are a regular reader, you already know I prefer a printed schedule and only use the app when absolutely necessary. Well, at the time of our check-in for the cruise, the app was required. I attempted to check-in on my computer and the option was not available, however, I am now seeing it can be done on a computer… Will report back next time (because yes, we didi book another sailing).

Regular Disney Cruiser, Chris and his wife were sailing in the Mega Rock Star Suite, and invited us for a tour, conversation, and pre-sail away drinks.

The room is cool, but there is only 1 shower, which has a glass wall into the master bedroom. I guess this is the rockstar life, but if you are sharing the room with others, or your adult children, this requires scheduling for privacy.

We made our way to the upper decks for the sail away from PortMiami which offers an amazing view as you depart compared to Port Everglades and Port Canaveral.

I was a bit worried when I saw the beach towels in the stateroom, as I cannot stand the checking out/in of towels on cruise ships. However, I was happy to see Virgin just like Disney offers grab and go towels near The Aquatic Club which is also near the gym.

Above the Aquatic Club, you can spot the Fincantieri 6287 hull plaque noting the ship’s origin from the Genoa Sestri Ponente Shipyard in Italy. Meyer Werft gets all the headlines nowadays with Disney Cruise Line, but Fincantieri was Disney’s first shipbuilder, constructing both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder.

An interesting feature about the Scarlet Lady, it does not feature a dedicated main dining room or rotational where you are assigned a place each night. There are multiple restaurants and quick service locations available, but we did schedule times each night before the sailing. For our first night, we are heading to Gunbae for a Korean BBQ inspired dinner.

A social, hands-on, interactive, fun dining experience, Gunbae features specially engineered flameless grills built into each table so Sailors can grill meats to their desire paired with their favorite banchan. Arguably the most energetic eatery on-board, each meal begins with a complimentary round of soju for the table and throughout the evening, Sailors are encouraged to take part in lively Korean drinking games.

Below is a sample of the menu from Virgin Voyage’s website, it is slightly different from the menu we had at our table, but it provides a good overview of what you might expect during a future cruise.

Our server was quite energetic welcoming us to the restaurant, and providing an overview of the menu. We ordered cocktails and essentially went with his recommendation to bring a little of everything for the table to share while still being attentive to the allergy issues at the table.

He proceeded to teach us the drinking game printed in the menu. It was fun once you got the hang of it.

Dinner is included in the price of the cruise, but cocktails are a separate fee.

The food began to arrive in multiple mini-course and overall everything was well seasoned and enjoyable.

After dinner, we walked around more of the interior spaces we did not get to earlier and for the early evening we were pleasantly surprised by the abundance of seating in the various venues and bars.

The Social Club is a central venue for group events and activities and there is a large selection of games, cards, and even puzzles available!

The Social Club also features some light bites and sweet treats, all included in the cruise fare.

Nearby, tucked in a corner is The Loose Cannon, a nautical bar with ample seating.

I noticed a limited edition Powder Keg souvenir shot glass listed on the menu, and eventually spotted one behind the bar in bubble wrap. I guess not all ships can print money with souvenir vessels.

While it is not uncommon to find a ship-exclusive beer, I do love when the beer is available in cans, which, if you are careful, you can bring home as a bonus souvenir to add to a growing collection of cruise ship beer cans.

Tonight in The Social Club was a Know-it-All session of Salty Trivia with random questions, think of it like the Potpourri category on Jeopardy.

After doing so-so in trivia, we meandered around stopping by the pizza shop which offers grab and go salads and a selection of pizzas. Plus, there is a spot where you can quickly grab a beverage and pay for it at the counter! The estimated wait for a pizza was running about 30-minutes as each is made to order, so grabbing a quick slice is not really an option.

Down a deck on 6 is the shopping district, High Street, with a mix of offerings from clothing, cosmetics, jewelry, a tattoo parlor, and a dedicated cruise line shop where we picked up a new carry-on bag to replace the suitcase that broke on arrival. You know how some designers have different sizes to make you feel better about your size… Well, I am now the proud owner of medium Virgin Voyages hooded sweatshirt.

Down on deck 5 is Sailor Services (guest services), where we found a stack of printed schedules as well as a deck plan brochure that ended up being extremely helpful to familiarize ourselves with the layout of the ship. The stairwells/elevator lobby also provide a good deck by deck venue summary. One of the first recommendations I have for anyone heading out on a cruise is to look over and study the deck plan. However, in practice I never do this as I like to play the game of how long will it take me to figure it out on my own as a test of sorts to see how the ship is set up. Moving around the ship was easy, deck 7 became the most visited spot, specifically area around The Social Club and The Grounds which became my North Star for navigating the ship.

I was relieved to see my suitcase waiting outside our stateroom as we turned in for the night. I have no idea when it arrived at our room and was not really worried after seeing the AirTag inside showing up on the ship when I looked right before dinner.

All sailors get a basic Wi-Fi package included with the cruise fare, and for included (free) it was good enough to do simple tasks such as email and social media apps. I did not put it to the test, but it felt like if I needed to do some real work online, I would need to upgrade to a different plan.

There was a nice selection of free on demand movies in the stateroom all browsable from the tablet. With the tap of a button The Hangover was playing on the stateroom TV! We called it a night and plan for a relaxing day at sea tomorrow!
