Several months ago, Holland America Line announced a massive $500 million project called Holland America Evolution that will upgrade six cruise ships in its fleet.
Today, the cruise line announced additions to Evolution, including poolside bandstands that will be added to two ships, Oosterdam and Zuiderdam.
The new venue will host a variety of musical acts throughout each sailing, from solo performers to energetic live bands during sailaway. This space will also be used for special events and celebrations.
The new Lido Pool bandstand creates a dedicated venue for live music in one of the ship’s most popular gathering spaces.
Since both ships have a retractable glass roof over the Lido Pool, this space can be used throughout the cruise, rain or shine.
Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line, gave the following statement:

Over the past several years, we’ve been on a journey to expand and elevate our entertainment offerings across the fleet, guided by what our guests tell us they love most. The new Lido Pool bandstands are another step in that effort, creating more opportunities to enjoy live music and memorable performances in one of the ship’s most popular gathering spaces.”
Project Evolution is Holland America Line’s biggest fleet upgrade project in its history. The program will see Pinnacle Class experiences being added to older cruise ships.
The upgrades include the popular Grand Dutch Café and new staterooms and suites. This includes new balcony staterooms for solo travelers.
Oosterdam and Zuiderdam will be the first two of six Vista and Signature class ships in the program.
