Explora Journeys’ newest ship Explora II got an unwelcome send-off on her maiden voyage, as a couple were photographed and filmed having sex on a balcony.
The cruise ship was embarking on her maiden voyage from Civitavecchia, the port for Rome, and held the christening ceremony once guests had boarded.
No sooner had the ribbon been cut, a couple of guests appeared on their cabin balcony having sex, either oblivious to the fact that their balcony was transparent, or not bothered.
You can see the video of the incident here. It’s blurred, but it’s still pretty clear what’s happening – don’t watch it if you don’t want to see it.
Really, scroll past if you don’t want to watch it.
Many VIPs had been present for the christening ceremony, including the ship’s godmother Rosalba Guigni, and Italian filmmaker Guiseppe Tornatore.
MSC, the parent company of Explora Journeys, did release a short statement:
“We are aware of the incident. If necessary, we will take appropriate measures.”

Guests can get in trouble if you’re seen having sex on a balcony – and even if you think you’re not visible, you should remember that security cameras do cover almost every inch of the ship.
These guys could definitely have used my guide on whether it’s OK to have sex on a cruise balcony.
