5 Cruise Ships Are Leaving Norwegian, But 17 New Vessels Are on the Way

Norwegian Cruise Line isn’t the only cruise line under the NCLH umbrella that’s going through some major changes over the next several years. With five ships leaving the parent company, another seventeen will be added to the lineup over the next decade.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings is the parent company of Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

You might have heard that two popular ships are leaving the Norwegian fleet over the next two years. Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun will both be sailing under a new brand in 2026 and 2027.

Cruise Fever recently reported on Norwegian Sky’s final voyage with NCL being canceled due to safety concerns in the Middle East.

But Oceania will be saying goodbye to a couple of vessels as well, and Regent Seven Seas will be sending one of their ships to another company.

Here is a schedule breakdown of the ships departing from the NCL umbrella and what seventeen vessels are still to come for the brand.

Ships Leaving the NCLH Fleet

2026

• Norwegian Sky (Norwegian Cruise Line)
  • Departure: Fall 2026.
  • New Destination: Heading to India-based Cordelia Cruises on a 10-year bareboat charter, where she will be renamed as Cordelia Sky.
• Oceania Regatta (Oceania Cruises)
  • Departure: Late 2026.
  • New Destination: Entering a multi-year charter with Australian travel brand My Cruises for year-long world cruise itineraries.

2027

• Norwegian Sun (Norwegian Cruise Line)
  • Departure: 2027.
  • New Destination: Rejoining sister ship Sky at India’s Cordelia Cruises under a matching 10-year charter as Cordelia Sun.

2028

• Seven Seas Navigator (Regent Seven Seas Cruises)
  • Departure: 2028.
  • New Destination: Converting into an ultra-luxury residential ship for Avora Residences, officially renamed Avora Lumina.
• Oceania Sirena (Oceania Cruises)
  • Departure: Spring 2028.
  • New Destination: Sold to an undisclosed buyer. Oceania is chartering the ship back to finish out all of her currently scheduled sailings through spring 2028 before the final handover.

17 New Vessels Joining the NCLH Fleet (2026–2037)

While five ships are saying goodbye to the NCLH family, Norwegian is going ahead with its largest expansion in corporate history.

All 17 newbuilds for the three brands are being constructed by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri.

Here is how those 17 new vessels break down by brand and timeline:

Norwegian Cruise Line (8 New Ships)

• 2027: Norwegian Aura (Prima Plus Class)
• 2028: Third Prima Plus Class vessel
• 2029: Fourth Prima Plus Class vessel
• 2030, 2032, 2034, 2036, 2037: next-generation vessels carrying around 5,000 guests each. This makes for the largest ships ever ordered for the brand.

Oceania Cruises (5 New Ships)

• 2027: Oceania Sonata (First of a new 86,000-gross-ton class)
• 2029: Oceania Arietta (sister ship to the new class)
• 2032, 2035, 2037: Three additional Sonata-Class luxury vessels.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises (4 New Ships)

• 2026: Seven Seas Prestige (Prestige Class)
• 2030: Second Prestige Class vessel
• 2033: Third Prestige-Class vessel.
• 2036: Fourth Prestige-Class vessel.
