Costa Fortuna departed Piraeus on September 4 for what is scheduled to be its final cruise for Costa Cruises, closing a 23-year run with the Italian brand before the ship transfers to Margaritaville at Sea. Cruise Industry News reports the 103,000-gross-ton vessel is completing a final Eastern Mediterranean itinerary before its handover.
Margaritaville at Sea previously confirmed its acquisition of Costa Fortuna and is transforming the ship into Margaritaville at Sea Beachcomber, the line’s largest vessel, ahead of a 2027 debut from PortMiami. The handoff marks a notable fleet milestone for both brands: Costa loses its oldest remaining ship, while Margaritaville at Sea gains the third and largest vessel in its rapidly expanding fleet.
