The Port of Galveston could be headed for another major cruise expansion. According to original reporting from Seatrade Cruise News, the Galveston Wharves Board is scheduled to consider plans Tuesday for a proposed Cruise Terminal 14 tied to Royal Caribbean, along with a separate operating agreement that could bring Margaritaville at Sea to Galveston beginning in October 2027.
The proposed Royal Caribbean arrangement would use a ground-lease structure similar to the line’s existing Cruise Terminal 10. The port would fill an adjacent slip, build the berth and parking infrastructure, while Royal Caribbean would construct the terminal. The facility is being contemplated to accommodate Icon-class ships.
Separately, the proposed Margaritaville at Sea agreement would initially run from Oct. 1, 2027 through Oct. 31, 2028, with renewal options. The agreement reportedly guarantees at least 200,000 passenger movements during the initial term, although no ship is named yet.
