Silversea’s “The Curious And The Sea” World Cruise 2026 Comes To A Close

Silversea has officially wrapped up its World Cruise 2026, The Curious and the Sea, a remarkable 140-day voyage aboard Silver Dawn that took guests to 59 destinations across 30 countries and six continents. The immersive sailing combined luxury travel with meaningful cultural experiences, giving travelers the opportunity to connect with local traditions, cuisine, and communities around the world.

Throughout the journey, guests enjoyed exclusive events, destination-focused enrichment, and unforgettable experiences both onboard and ashore. From the islands of the South Pacific and the vibrant cultures of Southeast Asia to the landscapes of Africa and the historic ports of Europe, the voyage celebrated the spirit of global exploration every step of the way.

The epic adventure concluded in Lisbon, Portugal, marking the successful end of another extraordinary world cruise for Silversea and further reinforcing the brand’s reputation for immersive luxury travel experiences.

“With ‘The Curious and the Sea,’ we set out to design a World Cruise rooted in cultural access and meaningful destination experiences,” said Bert Hernandez, president, Silversea. “This journey reflects a broader evolution in luxury travel, where guests are not just visiting places, but rather experiencing them deeply. It sets a new benchmark for what a World Cruise can be and informs how we are designing the journeys ahead, with our World Cruise 2027, ‘The Three Oceans.’”

Exploring the World Through Culture and Curiosity

Throughout World Cruise 2026, Silversea curated a series of events exclusively for World Cruise guests, each designed to bring the traditions, flavors, and histories of the destinations to life. These immersive moments included cultural celebrations in French Polynesia and Vanuatu, culinary journeys in Bali and India, and an elegant evening in Cape Town, inspired by South Africa’s heritage and featuring a bespoke menu by a nine-time Michelin-starred chef, Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen.

The voyage’s final exclusive event, A Feast of Flowers in Funchal, offered a fitting send-off as guests were welcomed into Madeira during the island’s annual Flower Festival. Beginning at Funchal’s Central Market and leading into a garden reception at the Quinta Magnolia, the evening unfolded with guests surrounded by blooming florals, local artisanal flavors, live folk music, and a four-course dinner with performances woven throughout – a celebration of the lasting friendships and shared discoveries that defined the journey.

In addition to Silversea’s exclusive World Cruise events, guests seeking greater immersion had a chance to explore each destinationthrough curated shore excursions and optional overland experiences. Some highlight experiences include:

  • ‘Thai Performance at Siam Niramit with Dinner’ – Phuket, Thailand: In Thailand, guests enjoyed an evening featuring a traditional Thai dinner and a three-act performance celebrating the traditions and performing arts of the region.
  • ‘Sandwich Harbour & Dune Drive by 4×4’ – Walvis Bay, Namibia: Guests seeking adventure took an off-road journey through Sandwich Harbour, exploring the area where giant sand dunes meet the Atlantic Ocean within the Namib-Naukluft Park.
  • ‘Uluru –  Outback Wonders’ – Melbourne to Adelaide, Australia (Overland): A two-night stay at the Longitude 131° desert lodge in Australia’s Red Centre allowed guests to take part in a guided exploration of Uluru and Kata Tjuta and the opportunity to witness the Field of Light  – an immersive outdoor art installation by British artist Bruce Munro, featuring 50,000 illuminated frosted glass spheres that transform the desert into a vivid garden of color.
  • ‘Masai Mara’ – Mahe to Port Louis, Kenya (Overland): Guests took part in an immersive safari experience in one of the continent’s most celebrated wildlife reserves, home to lions, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, and a diverse concentration of wildlife.
  • ‘Siviti Timbavati Safari’ – Durban to Port Elizabeth, South Africa (Overland): In South Africa, guests had a chance to stay at the Siviti Timbavati Plains Lodge within the Greater Kruger National Park, featuring game drives, al fresco dining, and a traditional open-air Boma dinner under the stars.

‘The Curious and the Sea’ also featured a culinary partnership with four world-class guest chefs in Mexico, Australia, Indonesia, and West Africa. Each presented a local guest menu at S.A.L.T. Kitchen and curated discussions through S.A.L.T. Talks. The last segment of the World Cruise also included exclusive entertainment, with guests onboard enjoying performances by the Tommy Dorsey orchestra, recognized as one of the best all-around dance bands.

An Elegant Stage for Exploration

Silver Dawn’s intimate all-suite design set the tone for the journey, with all ocean-facing accommodations, dedicated butler service, and a crew-to-guest ratio of nearly one-to-one, offering a level of personalization that few vessels can match. Guests also had access to nine world-class dining venues, including Silversea’s S.A.L.T. (Sea And Land Taste) culinary program, which brought each destination to life with locally sourced menus, hands-on cooking classes, and expert-led talks in select ports.

The Next Chapter in Worldwide Exploration Begins

With the conclusion of ‘The Curious and the Sea,’ Silversea looks ahead to its next set of global journeys:

  • World Cruise 2027, ‘The Three Oceans’: Guests will explore the Pacific, Indian, and Atlantic Oceans through the lens of culture and history. They will have access to several exclusive events, including a traditional Ho’olaule’a sunset celebration honoring Polynesian culture, a journey to the world-famous Victoria Falls, and a musical performance at St. Anne’s Cathedral in Belfast.
  • World Cruise 2028, ‘An Ode to the Moment’: Silversea invites guests to slow time and immerse more deeply in each destination, spanning over 30 UNESCO World Heritage sites. With 58 destinations across 29 countries and 17 overnights, the 132-day journey will feature longer stays, curated events, and optional overland experiences designed to unlock deeper cultural connections and exclusive access to each region.
