Virgin Voyages has unveiled the full lineup for its adults-only Solar Eclipse Voyages, featuring NASA astronauts, astrophysicists, commercial spaceflight pioneers and leading science communicators. Sailing aboard Scarlet Lady and Valiant Lady, both voyages will travel directly into the path of totality for an unforgettable eclipse-viewing experience at sea.
Virgin Voyages is offering two routes to the same extraordinary moment, one through the dramatic landscapes of northern Europe, one through the sun-drenched ports of the Mediterranean.
- Valiant Lady, Aug. 5-20: Solar Eclipse: Iceland & British Isles, sailing to Portsmouth, Dublin, Glasgow, Liverpool, Belfast, Siglufjordur, Isafjordur, Reykjavik, Edinburgh and back to Portsmouth.
- Scarlet Lady, Aug. 10-22: Solar Eclipse: Barcelona to Rome, sailing to Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, Cannes, Ajaccio, Tuscany/Cinque Terre, the Amalfi Coast, Catania and Rome.
The 2026 Solar Eclipse Voyages give Sailors front-row views of one of nature’s most extraordinary spectacles from the open ocean. With unobstructed horizons in every direction, there is no better vantage point to witness the eclipse. Total solar eclipses that cross the open Atlantic are exceptionally rare — making these sailings a genuinely once-in-a-generation opportunity.
Programming spans intimate talks, facilitated Q&As, and side-by-side eclipse viewing alongside the kind of conversations that tend to happen when curiosity meets open water.
Celestial Adventures and Eclipse Experiences Ashore
The eclipse programming doesn’t stop at the gangway. Virgin Voyages has curated a spectacular collection of eclipse-themed Shore Things, giving Sailors even more ways to commemorate their sailing. Highlights include:
- In Belfast, Northern Ireland – Eclipse Countdown: Stars & Cider – An immersive visit to the Armagh Observatory followed by a cider tasting at Long Meadow among the orchards.
- In Mallorca, Spain – Mallorca Caves: Eclipse Countdown – A descent into the Genova Caves with an eclipse-savvy guide weaving astronomy into island lore, followed by a taste of Mallorcan culture.
- In Ibiza, Spain – Eclipse Afterglow: Ibiza Sound & Soul – Yoga in the gardens of Jardines de Palermo, followed by a soothing sound bath. Ibiza at its most unexpected.
- In Isafjordur, Iceland – Eclipse Afterglow: Troll Peninsula Drive & Soak – A scenic coastal drive along the Troll Peninsula, past waterfalls, a glassy reservoir and historic fishing huts, ending in a geothermal soak beneath Arctic skies.
Can’t-Miss Experiences and Events at Sea

From astronaut storytelling to eclipse photography to celestial wellness, the at-sea programming goes well beyond the main event. A sneak peek of what Sailors can expect on Valiant Lady and Scarlet Lady includes:
- Out of This World: Living in Orbit – From building the ISS to spacewalking to the overview effect, NASA astronauts open up about life in orbit in a way that doesn’t happen at a conference or a keynote.
- Virgin Galactic: Ask an Astronaut – Will Whitehorn, architect of Virgin’s commercial spaceflight program, alongside Virgin Galactic astronauts, come together for an open Q&A on what it actually takes to leave the atmosphere.
- Solar Eclipse 101 – A solar physicist walks through exactly what happens during totality and how to watch safely, making it the essential warm-up session before the main event.
- Eclipse Photography Masterclass – A cosmic photographer covers how to capture the corona, Baily’s beads and the diamond ring effect on a phone, with two minutes of totality to put it all into practice.
- Cosmic Pause: Eclipse Energy Session – A dharma teaching on light and shadow followed by an energy transmission session, timed to the eclipse for Sailors looking for an inner experience to match the celestial one.
- Designated Eclipse Watch Zones – Totality experienced three ways: in silence, with a live musical score or with real-time expert narration as the sky goes dark. Sailors choose how they want to meet the moment.
The thinking behind the programming was as intentional as the itineraries themselves.
“Everyone else is selling cabins. We’re selling the two minutes the sky goes dark over the ocean, next to the people who’ve actually been up there. You can’t stream this. You can’t scroll it. You can’t A/B test wonders. You either show up, or you spend the next couple of years explaining why you didn’t.” Nathan Rosenberg, Chief Brand Experience, Marketing and Momentum Officer, Virgin Voyages
