How To Avoid Costly Vacation Ownership Mistakes

Vacations are meant to be our escape to relax, explore, and create unforgettable memories. But when it comes to vacation ownership options like cruises or timeshares, excitement can quickly turn into frustration if we’re not careful. Hidden fees, restrictive contracts, and impulsive decisions can leave us with more stress than joy.

We’ve all been tempted by the promise of luxurious getaways or exclusive deals, but not every offer is as dreamy as it seems. Understanding the potential pitfalls before committing can save us from costly mistakes and ensure our vacations remain a source of happiness. For those seeking truly unforgettable experiences, exploring how high-end adventurers redefine luxury can inspire smarter travel choices focusing on quality and flexibility. Let’s explore how we can make smarter choices and avoid the common traps of vacation ownership.

Understanding Vacation Ownership

Vacation ownership offers an opportunity to enjoy pre-planned getaways while avoiding the hassle of traditional vacation planning. It includes options like timeshares, vacation clubs, and cruise memberships. For more information, visit https://linxlegal.com/timeshare/ to explore the details and advantages of these options.

What Is Vacation Ownership?

Vacation ownership involves acquiring the right to use vacation properties or services for a specific period through purchasing or leasing. Timeshares are a popular example, where individuals buy shared access to a property for a designated time every year. Vacation clubs provide flexibility by offering points to use across various destinations.

Types Of Vacation Ownership: Cruises, Timeshares, And More

Vacation ownership encompasses timeshares, cruise memberships, and vacation clubs. Timeshares allow shared property use at fixed or floating intervals. Cruise memberships involve paying upfront for discounted future cruises. Vacation clubs grant flexibility through point systems used for different accommodations or services.

Common Mistakes In Vacation Ownership

Vacation ownership provides enticing opportunities for stress-free getaways but often comes with pitfalls. Misunderstanding contracts, costs, and obligations can turn these investments into burdens.

Overlooking The Fine Print

A detailed review of timeshare or vacation club contracts is essential. Differences, like leased versus deeded timeshares, significantly affect ownership. Leased agreements last 20 to 99 years and end with no ownership rights, while deeded ones are perpetual. Contracts often specify fixed or floating weeks, influencing scheduling flexibility. Resale restrictions and unclear property management terms can complicate plans.

Ignoring Financial Implications

Vacation ownership frequently involves substantial upfront payments and recurring annual fees. Timeshare costs, including maintenance dues, can increase annually, potentially burdening budgets. Failure to account for long-term cost inflation risks turning a once-attractive investment into financial strain. Careful budgeting and expense forecasting help mitigate unpleasant surprises.

Underestimating Long-Term Commitments

Vacation ownership locks buyers into specific use terms lasting decades. Overlooking lifetime changes in travel preferences, health, or financial stability can lead to regret. Some commitments can be difficult or costly to exit. Understanding both flexibility and permanence in agreements ensures ownership aligns with evolving lifestyles.

Tips To Avoid Vacation Ownership Pitfalls

Research Thoroughly Before Committing

Detailed research ensures informed decisions in vacation ownership. We should investigate the company, property quality, and customer experiences. High-pressure sales tactics often aim to cloud judgment, so it’s vital to remain cautious. Terms hidden within contracts, particularly fees or restrictions, need careful attention. Prioritizing independent reviews over promotional claims helps avoid unfavorable terms.

Understand The Resale Market

The resale market can reveal the actual value of a timeshare or vacation club membership. Many owners need help to resell, indicating limited demand. If we review current market trends and prices, we can assess depreciation risks before committing. Understanding the difficulties of reselling timeshares or transferring memberships highlights potential long-term drawbacks.

Seek Professional Advice

Consulting legal or financial professionals can expose contract complexities or financial risks. These experts help clarify terms and assess alignment with personal finances or plans. Seeking professional advice before signing reduces the chance of overlooking hidden obligations or unnecessary expenses, ultimately protecting investment value.

Comparing Cruises And Timeshares

Understanding the contrasts between cruises and timeshares helps vacationers make informed ownership decisions. Both options offer unique benefits but cater to different preferences and lifestyles.

Benefits Of Cruises For Vacation Ownership

Cruises allow travelers to explore multiple destinations during one trip without changing accommodations. Modern ships include amenities like entertainment shows, fitness centers, kids’ clubs, and diverse dining options. The onboard experience ensures convenience, with attentive service and accessible facilities suitable for all travelers.

Advantages And Challenges Of Timeshares

Timeshares offer predictable vacations at specific properties during designated periods. They present opportunities for long-term access to popular destinations. However, timeshares often come with high upfront costs, annual maintenance fees, and limited flexibility. Changing personal circumstances may complicate these arrangements, underscoring the need for cautious investment.

Making Smart Vacation Ownership Decisions

Vacation ownership requires thoughtful planning to avoid financial missteps and long-term regrets. Choosing wisely ensures value, flexibility, and enjoyment from your investment. Let’s explore essential aspects to consider for better decisions.

Evaluating Your Needs And Preferences

Understanding how we vacation is crucial. If our plans often change or we prefer short, spontaneous getaways, a timeshare might not align with our lifestyle due to its rigid scheduling. Regularly traveling to new locations further diminishes its value. On the other hand, those with a favorite vacation spot and consistent planning habits might benefit. When comparing ownership models, we must prioritize flexibility over fixed options, ensuring they match our travel approach.

Considering finances is equally important. Timeshares demand significant upfront payments, ongoing maintenance fees, and occasional repair assessments. With these costs potentially rising, the financial burden grows long-term. Financing options, often carrying high interest rates, exacerbate this. Unlike traditional vacations that allow us to vary spending, timeshares lock us into recurring expenses. Such commitments must align with our budget to prevent financial strain.

Life’s unpredictability also plays a key role. Our vacation needs may shift due to changes in health, family size, or personal preferences. Since timeshares involve binding agreements, exiting is difficult if circumstances evolve. Evaluating our future lifestyle before committing reduces the risk of regrets.

Considering Alternative Options

Alternatives to traditional vacation ownership offer more flexibility and fewer risks. Vacation clubs let us explore multiple destinations, adjusting trips as needed through points-based models. This approach reduces the rigidity tied to timeshares. Options like home exchange platforms or renting vacation properties suit those seeking cost-effective, commitment-free experiences. Exploring these enhances our decision-making by providing adaptable solutions tailored to varied lifestyles.

Cruises also present a unique alternative. Cruise memberships or packages offer greater variety for travelers desiring diverse destinations without owning property. Researching these ensure we choose options that fit our financial goals and personal interests, mitigating potential downsides inherent in rigid vacation ownership.

Conclusion

Vacation ownership can be rewarding and enhance our travel experiences, but it requires careful consideration and planning. We can avoid costly mistakes and long-term regrets by staying informed, evaluating our needs, and understanding the potential risks. Exploring alternative options like vacation clubs or rentals can also provide the flexibility many of us value.

Ultimately, the key is to align our choices with our lifestyle and financial goals, ensuring that every getaway brings joy and relaxation without unnecessary stress. Thoughtful decisions today will pave the way for unforgettable vacations tomorrow.

9 Perfect Holiday Gifts for the Cruise Lover in Your Life

With the holidays quickly approaching, many of us will be scrambling to purchase the perfect gift for our friends and family members. Some of them are easy to buy for, while others tend to be more complicated.

Our free cruise newsletter offers the latest news and deals: Sign Up

Some great holiday gift ideas for cruise lovers. ID 344004761 | Cruise Christmas © Irina Foto | Dreamstime.com

Do you have a cruise lover in your life? My guess is, “absolutely”, since you are reading this article. In that case, let’s focus on that category of gifting.

What should you purchase your mom who is going on her 25th cruise? What should you buy your sister who is going on her first cruise in the spring?

Keep reading for some of our recommendations on the perfect holiday gifts for the cruise lover in your life.

1. Luggage/Toiletry Bags

It doesn’t matter how many cruises you have taken, everyone needs a good piece of luggage and a great toiletry bag. If you can, spend a little bit more on a high quality piece. It will be greatly appreciated and will likely last years.

Pro Tip: Ladies, make sure to order matching luggage for you and your husband. It will go over about as well as matching pajamas. (insert eyeroll here)

2. Luxury Toiletries

Purchasing toiletries for someone else may not be at the top of your list. It’s hard to know exactly what someone else likes. Does cruise loving Aunt Cathy love lavender or does she prefer clean, ocean scents?

In my travels, I’ve found that the shower sponges with body wash already infused in them can be a wonderful companion.

Last year, I put one in my parents’ stockings (yes, I make my parents stockings) and they bragged on that small gesture for months after. Upscale travel size shampoos and conditioners are always welcome to the traveler in your life, too.

3. Travel Journal

If you are anything like myself, you’ve visited lots of places and have memories to last a lifetime. Unfortunately, I haven’t kept a travel journal but certainly wish I would have.

I remember the first time I took a cruise and the first time I flew on an airplane. The memories are amazing but they do fade as we get older.

It’s never too late to start keeping your thoughts and experiences in a journal. Simple or elaborate, there is a journal to suit the cruise lover in your life. In fact, you can use a basic notebook to chronicle your trips. Sounds like a great stocking stuffer to me!

4. Sound Machine

For years, my family would take camping trips in the 90’s. Imagine this – A pop-up camper with my parents at one end and my grandparents at the other.

The snoring was almost unbearable to my pre-teen self stuck in the middle. Do you even know how much I needed a sound machine back then?

Now, I cannot travel without one. Many models contain a variety of sounds like white noise, babbling brook, or crackling fire. Newer versions even include nightlights built-in.

Crank that baby up when it’s time to catch some Z’s on your next cruise. You’ll thank me the next day.

5. Reusable Straws

With the reduction of disposable straws on cruise ships, one has to get creative. A couple of years ago, my dad purchased a box of 100 pre-wrapped straws and packed them in his luggage. Let’s just say, he made a few friends that week.

Now, it’s easier than ever to remedy this little issue. Gift a reusable straw in your cruise loving family members’ stocking this year. For maximum space saving goodness, make sure to grab a collapsible/foldable straw with attached carabiner.

6. Kindle/E-Reader

For the book lover in your life, definitely consider gifting them a Kindle or an E-Reader. Packing bulky paperbacks can be annoying and take up too much valuable storage space.

I love reading short stories from the likes of Stephen King and Darcy Coates. During cruises, I like to switch around and read multiple short stories. If I didn’t have an E-Reader, I’m not sure how I would survive.

If your giftee already has an E-Reader, consider purchasing them a gift card to load more books onto their device.

7. Portable Phone Charger

Charging your phone and other devices is not always convenient on a cruise. While most cabins have the capability for USB charging or standard outlets, replenishing power can be difficult when off the ship.

Consider gifting a portable phone charger or power bank to your loved one. They can charge these devices ahead of time and take them wherever they go for a quick boost. There are a variety of chargers available and some are as small as a tube of lipstick.

Pro Tip: Tell your giftee to plug in their portable chargers overnight. The next day, they can take the charger on all their adventures and not worry about dead batteries.

8. Cruise Cash

If you aren’t quite sure what to give the cruise lover in your life, consider cash. No one is immune to needing a few extra dollars, especially if they have a cruise on the horizon.

For many, the ultimate gift is cash. If you don’t want to just hand over physical cash, consider purchasing something like Cruise Cash. Many cruise lines offer the ability to purchase this for yourself or gift it to others. There’s nothing quite like having a positive balance on your room when you arrive for your next trip.

This is exactly what I did for my dad’s recent birthday. I paid for some Cruise Cash and it will be “delivered” to the cabin on his next trip. Happy Dad equals Happy Mom. And hopefully they will give me some cruise cash for my birthday. Ha!

9. A Cruise

The ultimate holiday gift for the cruise lover in your life, is a cruise!  It’s certainly a big purchase but will be well-received by most anyone.

We hope you find our list of holiday gifts for the cruise lover in your life helpful. Big or small, anything you choose to give will enhance their cruising experience.  Happy Cruising!

Royal Caribbean Bans Popular Tech Item Passengers Have Used for Cheaper Internet

Without fanfare or a major announcement, Royal Caribbean has added a popular travel item to the “do not pack” list.

Our free cruise newsletter offers the latest news and deals: Sign Up

Royal Caribbean updates banned item list. Two ships in port

The cruise line’s prohibited items webpage was recently updated to combat a growing trend among travelers who are trying to stay connected while at sea.

While internet service on cruise ships has gotten faster and more reliable over the last few years—thanks to Starlink– most cruise lines offer different internet packages based on how many devices you would like to use.

The more devices you use, the more you pay.

Some savvy cruisers started using travel routers to get around this.  They would connect to the internet with the device and then connect their devices to the router.

But now Royal Caribbean is making sure passenger know not to bring the devices on board their ships.

The updated policy for prohibited items is worded as follows:

Cybersecurity and deliberate electronic crime: Satellite dishes, routers, and other networking equipment.

The wording of “other networking equipment” leaves room for the cruise line to ensure other devices that can be used get around the internet services of the company are also kept in check.

It was already against company policy to use a device that beats the system in this way, but now the cruise line can attempt to keep travel routers off their ships entirely.

After all, most of the time they would have no way of knowing if someone was using multiple devices on one internet package at the same time if they used a device like this.

Some cruise boards and forums have discussed the policy and have reported travel routers being confiscated.

For those who bring their work with them on a cruise, a travel router has been a normal part of packing for the trip.  Now it may require adding another device to the internet package.

It should be noted that cruisers can also opt to switch devices even if they only paid for one.  They just can’t use more than one device at the same time if they only paid for the single device internet package.

It can be a hassle to log out and log back in with another device, but if you don’t need to be connected at the same time, it’s a way to save a few dollars.

Carnival Cruise Line has also listed “routers” on their list of prohibited items.  In a recent story, a cruise passenger had his Starlink Mini confiscated.

Carnival has “satellite dishes” and “other internet related equipment” listed on the page of items passengers are not allowed to bring on board.

Recently, another popular item was banned from Royal Caribbean ships: multi-plug adapters.

Multi-plug adapters with several 110/120 volt outlets are not allowed on the cruise line’s ships as they can cause problems with the electrical systems, but multi-outlets that are USB only are permitted.

You can see a list of the multi-plug adapters still allowed on Royal Caribbean ships here.

Princess Cruises Changing Itineraries Due to Ship Issues

Princess Cruises is changing the itineraries on four cruises on one of their ships so essential engine maintenance can be done.

Our free cruise newsletter offers the latest news and deals: Sign Up

Regal Princess cruise ship

Two months ago, Princess Cruises canceled a few cruises on Regal Princess due to problems with the ship’s generators.

Now, the cruise line is modifying four itineraries on the ship so work can be done on the ship’s engines.

For the December 8, January 5 and January 12 cruises, the port stop in Costa Maya will be replaced with an extended stay in Roatan.

For the January 19, 2025 cruise, the ship will no longer visit Montego Bay, Jamaica and will have an extended visit to Roatan.

The cruise line said that they will leave the casino open during the overnight stays in Roatan.

As a gesture of goodwill to passengers for the changes, Princess Cruise is giving guests booked on these cruises a 20% future cruise credit if they decide to still sail on their scheduled voyage.

They can also cancel and receive a full refund that includes Princess-arranged air and other purchases.

Guests who pre-purchased shore excursions in the canceled ports will receive a full refund.

Princess Cruises sent the following statement to Cruise Fever about these changes:

“Princess Cruises has announced an adjustment to four upcoming Regal Princess itineraries to accommodate essential engine maintenance while ensuring the continued safety, performance, and comfort of the ship.

“For voyages departing December 8, January 5, January 12, planned calls to Costa Maya have been replaced with extended stays in Roatán, Honduras, and for the January 19 voyage, the extended stay in Roatan replaces a visit to Montego Bay.

“These adjustments will allow additional time in port to complete necessary maintenance while preserving the seamless sailing experience that guests have come to expect from Princess Cruises.

“To enhance the extended visit in Roatán, the onboard casino will remain open during the overnight stay, offering guests gaming fun while docked. Guests can enjoy the thrill of the casino even as the ship rests in port, adding to the excitement of their vacation.

“Princess Cruises is supporting guests affected by these changes by offering a full refund, including refunds for pre-purchased shore excursions, Princess-arranged air travel, and other related purchases; or to sail as planned and receive a 20% Future Cruise Credit (FCC), which can be applied toward a future cruise of their choice.”

Viking Vela is not only the 11th ocean ship in Viking’s fleet, but it is also their largest at 54,300 gross tons.

It has 499 cabins, 34 more than the rest of the fleet. It can carry up to 998 passengers.

Viking had the ship built slightly larger so it can be retrofitted in the future to run on hydrogen. This will allow the cruise line to operate zero-emission cruises in the Norwegian Fjords and other sensitive environments.

Viking Vela was built by Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard and marks the 13th vessel (11 ocean ships and two expedition from Vard) they have built for Viking.

The ship will spend her first season sailing cruises in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.

Torstein Hagen, Chairman and CEO of Viking, gave the following statement about the cruise line taking delivery of their newest ship:

“We are proud to welcome the newest sister ship to our award-winning ocean fleet. Together with Fincantieri we have built the world’s most elegant small ocean ships. With the arrival of our newest vessel, we look forward to introducing even more curious travelers to the Viking way of exploration.”

The other unnamed seven ships are currently scheduled to debut in 2026, 2027, 2028, two in 2029, and two in 2030.

Virgin Voyages Launches Annual Pass That Lets Guests Cruise As Often As They Want!

Virgin Voyages has launched an exciting new opportunity for anyone with a significant chunk of change in the bank and a dream to cruise at a whim – an Annual Pass.

Brilliant Lady

The pass allows guests to enjoy 12 months of cruises as frequently as they wish, and can be started in either January, February, March or April 2025.

The cost for the pass is, understandably, not insignificant – $120,000, but that covers two people. Solo guests are welcome to buy the pass but there’s no discount.

Also you’ll still need to pay taxes and fees for every cruise, so it’s not quite as good as it sounds – expect to pay a couple of hundred dollars per cruise.

Once you’ve bought the pass, you can then just call Virgin Voyages to book yourself onto any cruise that has availability within that year – with no limits on how frequently you travel. Of course, it’s cruise-only, so you’ll need to fund your own flights.

Annual Pass holders do get to enjoy Deep Blue Extra perks on every cruise though, which includes:

  • Sea Terrace cabins
  • Premium WiFi
  • Wash & fold laundry service
  • Priority boarding
  • A $100 bar tab for every cruise
  • Two speciality coffees per cabin, per day
  • A VIP cocktail party
  • Dedicated customer service support

The Virgin Voyages Annual Pass is also the first cruise product to accept Bitcoin as a form of payment – so if you’re lucky enough to be sat on a huge sum of Bitcoin, you can treat yourself to a year of cruises.

A few more things to note:

  • Third and fourth guests can be added to bookings and will be charged at standard rates
  • Certain cruises such as marketing events or private charters are, of course, not available
  • Payment must be made by wire transfer in full – you can’t spread the cost of the annual pass and it’s not refundable
  • Annual Pass numbers are limited

Cost-wise, the Annual Pass works out at $60,000 per person, per year, or $5,000 per person, per month.

It doesn’t necessarily represent a massive saving. A typical 7-night cruise in a Sea Terrace cabin costs around $1,250 to $1,500 per person, so you would likely save a little if you cruised constantly throughout the year.

But if you only cruised for an average of every other week, you’d likely be spending more with the Annual Pass – so it’s more of a marketing gimmick.

Would you be happy committing to Virgin Voyages exclusively for a year?

How To Choose The Best Cruise For Casino Enthusiasts

Cruising presents a unique opportunity for casino enthusiasts: the thrill of gaming combined with the allure of the open sea. Imagine rolling the dice while a golden sunset casts a glow on the horizon or savoring the anticipation of a big win as your ship pulls into a glamorous port. However, not all cruises are created equal, and choosing the best one for your gambling getaway requires careful consideration. From the casino experience itself to the destinations and overall ambiance, selecting the right cruise can make or break your adventure.

The casino experience: What to look for

The onboard gaming experience is central to your cruise choice when you’re a casino enthusiast. But what makes a cruise ship casino genuinely exceptional? It boils down to three key factors: size, game variety, and atmosphere. For players seeking a seamless gaming experience beyond the cruise, exploring platforms like https://casinority.com/nz/fast-payout-online-casinos/ can provide insights into fast-payout options, replicating the thrill of winning onboard.

Size matters (sometimes)

The size of a cruise ship casino can dramatically affect your experience. Larger casinos, such as those found on Royal Caribbean’s Oasis-class ships, often mimic the feel of Las Vegas, with spacious layouts and a wide array of gaming options. On smaller ships, the experience is more intimate—a cozy environment where you might find yourself competing against familiar faces by the end of your journey. Both have their merits, so the right choice depends on whether you thrive on the energy of a crowd or prefer a quieter, more personal vibe.

Game selection: Beyond the basics

A grand casino offers more than just rows of slot machines. Top-tier cruise lines cater to both casual players and serious gamblers with games like:

  • Blackjack and poker: Staples of any reputable casino.
  • Roulette: Perfect for those who enjoy a bit of glamour with their gaming.
  • Progressive slots: These machines offer life-changing jackpots that grow with every spin.

Some cruise lines even offer unique regional games. On Asian cruises, for example, you might find Sic Bo or Mahjong, adding an extra layer of excitement to your gaming experience.

The atmosphere

Gaming isn’t just about the stakes; it’s about the vibe. The best cruise casinos create an immersive experience, from chic interiors to well-trained staff who add to the fun. Look for ships that host tournaments or themed gaming nights—these events often bring an electric buzz to the casino floor.

Luxury vs. budget: Finding your fit

The world of casino cruises spans a broad spectrum, from opulent floating resorts to more affordable, family-friendly options. Understanding the differences can help you find the perfect balance between indulgence and practicality.

High-end cruises

If you’re seeking a luxury experience, lines like Crystal Cruises or Regent Seven Seas offer unparalleled luxury. Their casinos cater to high rollers with exclusive VIP areas, private gaming lounges, and high-stakes tables. Beyond the casino, you’ll enjoy lavish amenities like gourmet dining, spa retreats, and personalized service. These cruises attract discerning travelers who appreciate exclusivity and are willing to pay for it.

Affordable options

On the other hand, mainstream cruise lines like Carnival and Norwegian cater to budget-conscious travelers without sacrificing fun. Their casinos may not be as extravagant, but they offer a lively atmosphere, a solid selection of games, and lower betting minimums. These ships are ideal for casual gamers or families looking to mix gaming with other activities.

Feature Luxury Cruise Budget Cruise
Game Selection Extensive, including VIP options Moderate, casual-friendly
Accommodations Suites with balconies, personal butlers Standard cabins, more compact
Dining Gourmet, Michelin-level options Buffets and casual restaurants
Betting Limits High stakes Accessible for all budgets

Why destinations matter for casino cruises

The ports of call aren’t just about sightseeing—they influence the type of people onboard, the ship’s ambiance, and even the casino culture. The destination you choose should align with the type of gaming experience you’re seeking.

Caribbean: Casual and lively

Caribbean cruises often exude a carefree, party-like atmosphere. The casinos onboard these ships reflect that energy, offering an environment that’s lively, accessible, and perfect for casual gamers. After spending your day exploring white-sand beaches, you can expect an easygoing crowd around the blackjack tables.

Mediterranean: Elegant and sophisticated

If the Caribbean is about fun, Mediterranean cruises are about sophistication. Ports like Monte Carlo and Venice attract a refined crowd, and the onboard casinos often match this elegance. High-stakes tables and a more subdued atmosphere make these cruises ideal for serious gamers.

Asia: A Unique Adventure

Asian cruises deliver a distinct gaming flavor. Onboard casinos often feature regional games like Sic Bo and Pachinko alongside traditional offerings. Combine this with exotic ports like Singapore and Hong Kong, and you have an experience that’s both thrilling and culturally enriching.

Choosing a cruise route isn’t just about the sights you’ll see—it’s about the crowd you’ll game with and the vibe you’ll enjoy onboard.

The full experience: Beyond the casino

A great casino cruise doesn’t stop at the casino. While gaming might be your main draw, the overall cruise experience should be equally compelling. Here’s what else you should look for:

Exceptional dining

From casual eateries to five-star gourmet restaurants, dining options play a major role in your overall satisfaction. Lines like Celebrity Cruises are renowned for culinary excellence, offering everything from sushi bars to wine-pairing dinners led by Michelin-starred chefs.

Entertainment for every mood

Casino cruises are known for their entertainment variety. Whether it’s Broadway-style shows, live music, or comedy acts, there’s always something to enjoy when you’re not at the tables. Some ships even host celebrity performers, adding a touch of star power to your evenings.

Relaxation and recreation

When you’re ready to step away from the hustle of the casino, the best cruises offer plenty of ways to unwind. Pamper yourself with a massage at the spa, take a yoga class overlooking the ocean, or enjoy a serene adults-only retreat.

To sum up

Choosing the best cruise for casino enthusiasts involves more than simply finding a ship with a decent casino. It’s about creating a well-rounded experience that balances your love of gaming with stunning destinations, top-tier amenities, and exciting entertainment. Whether you’re drawn to the luxury of Regent Seven Seas or the lively energy of a Carnival cruise, there’s a ship out there perfectly suited to your preferences. By carefully considering the casino experience, your budget, and the destinations, you’ll be well on your way to an unforgettable adventure on the high seas.

Viking Takes Delivery Of Newest Ocean Ship, Viking Vela

Viking® (NYSE: VIK) has announced it has taken delivery of the company’s newest ocean ship, the Viking Vela®. The delivery ceremony occurred this morning when the ship was presented at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Ancona, Italy. Classified as a small ship, as are all Viking ocean ships, the Viking Vela has 499 staterooms that can host 998 guests. The Viking Vela joins the company’s growing fleet of award-winning ocean ships and will spend her inaugural season sailing itineraries in the Mediterranean and in Northern Europe.

Viking Vela Joins A Growing Ocean Fleet

“We are proud to welcome the newest sister ship to our award-winning ocean fleet,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman and CEO of Viking. “Together with Fincantieri, we have built the world’s most elegant small ocean ships. With the arrival of our newest vessel, we look forward to introducing even more curious travelers to the Viking way of exploration.”

Viking is working on a project for a partial hybrid propulsion system for future ocean ships based on liquid hydrogen and fuel cells. This system could allow the company to operate at zero-emission in the Norwegian Fjords and other sensitive environments. While the Viking Vela has a traditional propulsion platform, she is considered hydrogen-ready and can be retrofitted in the future.

Award-Winning Accolades

The delivery of the Viking Vela follows a string of recent accolades for the company. For the second consecutive year, Viking was rated #1 for Oceans, #1 for Rivers, and #1 for Expeditions by Condé Nast Traveler in the 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards.

This achievement marked the first time a travel company won these three categories back-to-back years. Viking was also named Best Luxury Line, Best Line for Couples, and Best Line in the Mediterranean in U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Cruise Lines ranking for the fourth consecutive year.

Viking’s ocean ships have been rated and “Recommended” as part of the Forbes Travel Guide 2024 Star Awards, an annual independent evaluation for luxury travel brands. Additionally, Viking received seven awards at the 2023 Cruise Critic Editors’ Picks Awards—more than any other line—across the luxury, river and expedition categories.
