Wheelchair User Shares Accessibility Challenges on MSC Cruise Following Booking Confusion

Australian disability advocate and influencer Shane Hryhorec, known as @wheelaroundtheworld, encountered accessibility challenges aboard MSC Grandiosa during his first-ever cruise.

MSC Wheelchair Issues

Hryhorec, who boarded the 6,334-guest ship in Marseille for an 8-night sailing, found that his cabin was far from the accessible accommodation he had expected.

Hryhorec documented his experience on social media, highlighting inaccessible features in his cabin, including a heavy door, limited maneuvering space, and a bathroom with steps and a high-sided tub obstructed by a glass partition.

His initial reaction, shared in a TikTok video with over 10 million views, expressed his frustration: “This is not what I booked… It is absolutely not fine.”

@wheelaroundtheworld Can u cruise the world in a wheelchair? ♿️🛳️🫣 Come with me as I embark on my first-ever cruise experience. I’m excited but also a bit nervous! This video series will dive into everything from checking in to attempting day adventures (if they’re accessible), figuring out how to get around the ship, and exploring what is and isn’t accessible onboard. Plus, there’ll be plenty more along the way! Have you been on a cruise? Share your tips and tricks! I’d love to hear about your travel experiences. If you have a disability or know someone with a disability and are planning on going on a cruise, you must watch these videos first! #CruiseLife #WheelchairTravel #AccessibleTravel #DisabilityAwareness #Cruising #TravelWithPurpose ♬ original sound – WHEEL AROUND THE WORLD – SHANE

Despite considering disembarking in Barcelona the next day, Hryhorec chose to stay and adapt, using a public shower in the gym, which was also not fully accessible. The situation underscored significant communication gaps in the booking process.

Hryhorec had booked the cruise through a travel agent three weeks before departure and submitted an assistance form to MSC Cruises detailing his needs. He claims confirmation of the form took over a week of follow-up, and no issues were flagged.

However, MSC Cruises later stated that Hryhorec was informed there were no accessible cabins available and was offered a full refund or the option to reschedule his trip. This account contrasts with Hryhorec’s videos, leaving the exact details of the miscommunication unclear.

@wheelaroundtheworld When your accessible shower isn’t so accessible 🛁😭♿
Part three of my cruise adventure: A morning workout and a discovery that even the “accessible” facilities have their flaws! After a rough first night on a bed designed for someone a foot shorter, I decided to hit the gym to sweat out the frustration. While the workout was good, the gym itself showed signs of wear and tear, from dodgy mats to bolts coming loose from windows. But the real kicker? The public wheelchair accessible shower was far from it. A shower chair here, a handrail there, and the soap dispenser somewhere out of reach. It’s like accessibility was an afterthought. Does MSC even care about accessibility? This experience has me questioning it. Have you encountered similar challenges? Stay tuned for a tour of the ship to uncover more about its accessibility or lack thereof. #AccessibleTravel #CruiseLife #DisabilityAwareness #WheelchairTravel #CruisingTips #TravelWithPurpose ♬ original sound – WHEEL AROUND THE WORLD – SHANE

Out of the 2,421 cabins onboard MSC Grandiosa, only 60 are accessible, and all were booked by other passengers. Guest services onboard eventually managed to arrange a cabin swap with another group on the second day of the voyage, allowing Hryhorec to move into a fully accessible room.

Relieved to be in a suitable cabin, Hryhorec shared his appreciation:
“You have no idea how happy this makes me,” he said, touring his new room. “The difference to be in a room made for a person with a disability is out of this world.”

@wheelaroundtheworld A Moment I Didn’t Expect: Things Are Finally Changing 🙌♿ Part 5 of my cruise experience aboard the MSC Grandiosa takes a surprising turn! After a challenging start, something unexpected happened that could completely change the rest of my trip. From inaccessible facilities to a whirlwind of emotions, this cruise has been a real test so far. But what happens next might just make up for it. Have you faced accessibility challenges while travelling? Share your experiences in the comments. #AccessibleTravel #CruiseLife #DisabilityAwareness #WheelchairTravel #cruise ♬ original sound – WHEEL AROUND THE WORLD – SHANE

Hryhorec used his experience to highlight systemic issues in cabin allocation, noting that accessible cabins are often booked on a first-come, first-serve basis and not reserved for passengers with disabilities.

He advocated for more accessible cabins on cruise ships, citing the aging cruising demographic and the 5.5 million Australians living with disabilities.

Carnival Cruise Line Clarifies Position On ‘Elf On The Shelf’ Activities

Carnival’s Brand Ambassador, John Heald, has posted a notice on his popular Facebook page to inform guests that the crew will not be able to get involved in ‘Elf on the Shelf’ activities this festive season.

Carnival cruise elf on the shelf

It comes after a guest made a request via John for their elf, ‘Snickerdoodle’, to be interacted with by the cabin stewards and even senior officers for the entertainment of their children.

“We are leaving a week from Saturday for a 7-night cruise,

“Can you arrange for the cabin attendant to put Snickerdoodle in funny places in the room and do crazy stuff each night. We have early dinner so this will need to be done by 10pm latest. Can the captain get involved as well. The boys would find it unbelievable if Snickerdoodle could be filmed driving the ship.”

The guest’s request

The guest carried on to say that they had been taking part in Elf on the Shelf with Snickerdoodle for six years now and that their two children always looked forward to the “crazy” antics.

However, and understandably, Heald had to put out a message confirming that this wouldn’t be possible.

“Can I let all Mums and Dads know there is one thing I cannot do and since I had the first request for this yesterday I thought I should mention it now… I cannot, I really cannot arrange tricks and jokes for your Elf of the Sodding Shelf.

“I know that if I don’t say no here that I will be inundated with Elf requests so I hope everyone understands… I realize that so many children around the world love their Elf. However, I really cant ask the very busy cabin attendant to add to his or her work load by coming up with different ideas every night.”

John Heald’s Facebook post

Heald did suggest, rather generously, that the guest could consider asking their cabin stewards for the elf to be placed in the cabin in a fun position with a towel animal as a one-time event, but that it was impossible for something to be done every night.

Carnival is a popular family cruise line and so you can imagine how much work would be involved if every family on a cruise wanted their elves positioned in different ways every night.

Cabin stewards are already very hard at work to make sure that cabins are kept at their best and that all other regular guest requests are handled quickly

And the senior officers are certainly too busy to be taking photos of an elf steering the cruise ship!

Viking Vela Delivered by Fincantieri, Expanding the Viking Fleet

Fincantieri has officially delivered the Viking Vela, a 499-suite vessel, during a ceremony in Ancona, Italy, on Tuesday.

Viking Vela

The newest addition to Viking’s fleet is a testament to the growing partnership between the Italian shipbuilder and the luxury cruise line.

Viking Vela boasts a gross tonnage of approximately 54,300 tons and offers accommodations for up to 998 passengers, supported by a 550-member crew.

This marks an increase in capacity compared to Viking’s previous ocean ships, which typically carried 930 guests.

Viking Vela’s slightly larger size allows for expanded amenities and greater passenger comfort while maintaining the intimate and luxurious experience Viking is known for.

This delivery marks the thirteenth ship Fincantieri has built for Viking, including two expedition vessels constructed by Fincantieri’s subsidiary, Vard.

Fincantieri hailed its long-standing partnership with Viking as a success story, highlighting the shared commitment to innovation, sustainability, and quality in shipbuilding.

Viking Vela is designed to uphold Viking’s signature “thinking person’s cruise” ethos, focusing on enriching cultural experiences, destination immersion, and serene onboard environments.

The ship offers:

  • All-Veranda Accommodations: Every stateroom features a private veranda, providing guests with personal space to enjoy the views.
  • Scandinavian-Inspired Design: The ship’s interiors reflect Viking’s minimalist aesthetic, combining elegance with functionality.
  • Enrichment Opportunities: Guests can enjoy cultural lectures, destination-focused programming, and live classical music performances.
  • World-Class Dining: With multiple dining venues, including The Restaurant, Manfredi’s Italian Restaurant, and The Chef’s Table, the Viking Vela continues Viking’s reputation for exceptional culinary offerings.

The addition of the Viking Vela strengthens Viking’s position in the small-ship cruise market.

The company has built its reputation on offering luxurious yet intimate voyages, focusing on ports of call that larger ships cannot reach. Viking’s continued expansion demonstrates the growing demand for its brand of culturally immersive travel.

In addition to its ocean fleet, Viking has been a leader in river cruising for decades, operating one of the largest fleets of river cruise vessels globally.

With the Viking Vela now set for her inaugural cruise on 12th December, Viking’s fleet continues to set the standard for luxury cruising.

The delivery represents not just an expansion of Viking’s capacity but a reinforcement of its partnership with Fincantieri, a collaboration that has yielded some of the most refined and innovative ships in the industry.

As Viking grows its fleet, passengers can look forward to more opportunities to explore the world in unparalleled style and comfort.

Celebrity Cruises Sailing from Florida Port for First Time Ever

Celebrity Equinox just arrived at her new home in Florida.   The 2,850-passenger Solstice-class vessel was welcomed into Port Canaveral Tuesday morning, marking the first time Celebrity Cruises will homeport a ship from the area.

Our free cruise newsletter offers the latest news and deals: Sign Up

Celebrity Equinox leaving Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

The move to homeport a ship in Port Canaveral was announced last August when the cruise line revealed the new location in order to reach more travelers who were both in-state and out-of-state.

“At Celebrity we are continually striving to elevate our guests’ holiday experience from start to finish, and are delighted to offer even more ways to relax, unwind and explore the Caribbean,” stated Laura Hodges Bethge, President of Celebrity Cruises. “The addition of Port Canaveral offers guests the ultimate flexibility for their perfect Caribbean getaway.”

Celebrity joins six other cruise lines that currently offer regular sailings from the port, including Carnival, Disney, MSC, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, and a recent addition: Princess Cruises.

Caribbean Princess was just moved to the Florida port last week.

Celebrity Equinox arrived in Florida after a 12-day transatlantic cruise from Portugal.

The 121,878 gross ton ship will begin its sailings out of Port Canaveral with a 4-day sailing to Bimini and Nassau in The Bahamas.

After this debut sailing, Celebrity Equinox will offer 7-day sailings to the Caribbean and Bahamas, including ports of call in Honduras, Mexico, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Key West, and other destinations.

More than 15 ports of call are included on sailings with Equinox, including stops at the popular private island, Perfect Day at  CocoCay.

The ship will call Port Canaveral home through April of 2025.  The next assignment for the vessel will be in Europe.

In May of 2025, Celebrity Equinox is scheduled to offer a transatlantic cruise to Barcelona, and the ship will remain in the Mediterranean until December of 2025 when it will begin offering sailings to Antarctica from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Solstice-class ships have been a very popular class with the cruise line, and even after the more modern Edge-class ships were built, many Celebrity cruisers still gravitate to the classic ships.

Celebrity Equinox was the second of five Solstice-class vessels and was last renovated in 2019.  There are some reports of the ship heading to dry dock in April of 2025 after a season in the Caribbean, but nothing official has been announced yet.

Cruise Crew Member Explains Hidden Meaning Behind Black Rings And Pineapple Jewellery

Cruising can be a time for relaxation, but for one crew member working aboard a cruise ship, a simple question about a couple’s jewellery led her to uncover a hidden world of symbols and codes.

Lucy sharing her stories (YouTube / Cruising As Crew)

In a candid video on her YouTube channel Cruising As Crew, Lucy shared an eye-opening story about how she learned the meaning behind black rings and pineapple jewellery – items commonly worn by swingers on cruise ships.

A curious question sparks an unexpected discovery

It all started years ago when she was working in the spa aboard a cruise ship.

A couple came in for a couples’ massage, and when the crew member saw that they were both wearing matching silver upside-down pineapple necklaces, she was curious.

“I loved your necklaces. I think it’s so cute that you’re both wearing matching necklaces,” she recalled saying. “But why the pineapple? What does that represent to you in your relationship?”

The couple burst out laughing, and what she learned next left her both embarrassed and intrigued. “They were like, ‘Look, we’re swingers, and this is how people can identify us as swingers,’” she explained.

The secret of the pineapple

Little did she know, the upside-down pineapple was a subtle signal that swingers used to identify each other, a practice that had been going on for years.

upside down pineapple

From this moment, the crew member was introduced to the world of swinging symbols on cruise ships, a world that many cruisers may not be aware of.

She explained how the upside-down pineapple, often worn as jewellery or displayed on cabin doors, is a commonly recognised sign for swingers.

However, she also delved into other less obvious signals, like the black ring worn on the right hand. Although this is sometimes seen as a signal, it can also just be a fashion statement, so she cautioned not to read too much into it unless other clear signs are present.

Black ring cruise swingers

“The black ring on your right hand… can you imagine if you went up to someone and you’re like, ‘Hey, I can see that black ring on your right hand?’ And they’re like, ‘Yes, it’s just a black ring on my right hand,’” she said with a laugh.

But it’s not just rings and pineapples – there are other signs that may indicate someone is part of the swinging community. She mentions that some swingers may wear gender symbols, often combined in a specific way, to subtly indicate their preferences.

These symbols are much more explicit, she notes, and aren’t as commonly worn, making them a clearer sign of a swinger’s lifestyle.

Swinger lingo

In her video, she also shared her education into the specific language used among swingers, including terms like “unicorn” (a woman who wants to swing alone with a couple) and “rainbow” (someone who is open to swinging with all genders).

Through her candid and often humorous storytelling, she explained how these terms help define various roles within the swinging community.

Virgin Voyages’ unwarranted reputation

As she wraps up the video, she also addresses misconceptions about Virgin Voyages, an adult-only cruise line she works for.

Some people believe that Virgin is a “swinger’s cruise,” but she clarifies that while swinging may happen aboard, the cruise line doesn’t promote or advertise itself as catering specifically to swingers.

Party on a Virgin Voyages cruise

“You are just as likely to find swingers on Virgin as you are on Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Celebrity, Viking, you name it,” she explains.

Her message is clear: cruising is about enjoying what makes you happy, and that can include exploring different lifestyles.

“Life is about living and doing what makes you happy,” she says, embracing the diversity of preferences found on cruise ships.

For those who are curious about these hidden meanings or simply want to learn more about cruising culture, her Cruising As Crew channel offers a unique behind-the-scenes look at life on the high seas.

Cruiser Shares Shocking Details Of His Onboard Medical Bill

Cruising is often a time for relaxation, but for Tony from the popular YouTube channel La Lido Loca, his recent trip on Norwegian Cruise Line’s Bliss took an expensive turn after a medical visit.

In a candid video, Tony broke down the unexpected $812 medical bill he incurred onboard and the surprising reason it could have been avoided.

A Knee Injury That Snowballed

Tony’s medical troubles began on a previous cruise aboard Holland America Line’s MS Eurodam.

While getting out of bed one morning, he heard a “popping sound” in his left knee, followed by significant pain and tightness. Despite the discomfort, Tony continued his daily activities, hoping the soreness would pass.

Fast forward to his NCL Bliss cruise – a trip where Tony was hired to create videos for the cruise line.

His knee initially seemed to improve, but during a tender ride in Cabo San Lucas, disaster struck.

As Tony described, “I took one step up… and my knee just popped again, worse than before. The pain shot up so much I thought I was going to pass out.”

NCL Bliss

Stubborn Determination

Despite the worsening pain, Tony chose not to notify NCL immediately, opting instead to push through his commitments. “I’m a super stubborn person,” Tony admitted. “I didn’t reach out to my contact at NCL because I didn’t want them to tell me not to do the work.”

After struggling to walk and realising the injury might worsen, Tony decided to seek medical attention onboard.

However, his initial visit to the ship’s medical center was delayed because it wasn’t an emergency, and the facility only offered non-emergency services during designated hours.

NCL Medical Centre
NCL Medical Centre (YouTube / La Lido Loca)

The Cost Breakdown

Once the medical center opened, Tony received a thorough evaluation, including x-rays, blood tests, and a knee brace.

Here’s how the charges stacked up:

  • Professional Services: $149 for a new patient doctor visit.
  • Tests and Procedures: $43 for blood extraction, $153 for laboratory tests, $153 for x-rays, and more.
  • Supplies: $74 for items like a knee brace, bandages, and a catheter.
Tony’s medical bill (YouTube / La Lido Loca)

The total came to a staggering $812.

The Costly Question

One moment during the medical intake process could have potentially saved Tony the entire bill. The nurse handed him an “accident occurrence form,” asking if his injury resulted from an accident.

Initially, Tony started filling it out but realised his situation didn’t qualify as an accident.

“I wasn’t in an accident,” he explained. “My knee was already kind of jacked up… I didn’t feel comfortable claiming something that wasn’t true.”

By refusing to classify his injury as an accident, Tony missed the chance for his medical expenses to be potentially covered under the cruise line’s accident policies. Instead, he opted to pay out of pocket and rely on his travel insurance to seek reimbursement.

Lessons Learned

Tony’s story is a cautionary tale for cruisers. He emphasised the importance of travel insurance, stating, “Even if you’re going on a short cruise or a long cruise, make sure you’ve got that travel insurance, or you could be paying hundreds of dollars.”

As for how he handled the situation, Tony stands by his decision. “If it’s not an accident, I’m not going to say it’s an accident. I don’t believe in rolling like that. If you sow the seeds of dishonesty, then bad things are going to happen to you.”

What Do You Think?

Would you have filled out the accident form or paid out of pocket like Tony? Have you ever faced a medical bill while cruising? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Why Are Cruises So Cheap?

Have you ever found yourself surprised at just how affordable a cruise can be, especially compared to a traditional land-based holiday? You’re not alone!

It seems almost too good to be true, doesn’t it?

I’ve taken many cruises that have cost me under £50 or $60 per night including meals, activities and entertainment.

Cruise Mummy with Ambition cruise ship

Since cruising restarted after a pause of 1-2 years, the prices have been lower than ever.

So why are cruises so cheap? And how do the cruise lines make a profit when prices are so low?

I’ve worked in the cruise industry since 2015 and every week I make a list of the cheapest cruise deals. (If you want that, sign up here).

So, let’s discuss why and how cruises are so cheap…

8 reasons why cruises are so cheap right now

1. Economies of scale

Cruise ships carry thousands of guests at a time, which allows them to achieve economies of scale. This means the average cost per passenger decreases as the number of passengers increases.

The biggest cruise ships carry over 6,000 people. With bulk purchasing available on from everything from food and drinks to furniture and fuel, the price per guest can be much lower than smaller establishments, such as hotels.

In fact, small cruise ships are usually much more expensive than larger ones.

Suggested read: Why Is American Cruise Lines So Expensive?

Princess cruise kitchen crew talking with each other

2. Inclusive pricing

Many cruises are sold as all-inclusive packages, meaning your accommodation, meals, and entertainment are included in one upfront cost. This can make them cheaper than paying for these items separately during a hotel stay.

First-time cruisers often aren’t aware of exactly what’s included in a cruise. So make sure that you know, and beware of any hidden extras like port fees and taxes, gratuities and speciality dining.

3. Off-peak deals

Cruise lines often offer significantly discounted rates during off-peak times to ensure their ships are fully booked. These deals can make cruising very affordable compared to other types of vacation.

Everyone wants to cruise when it’s sunny. So if you’re willing to travel when it’s cold, rainy, or even during hurricane season, you can cruise for a fraction of the price compared to the school holidays in summer.

Suggested read: What Is The Cheapest Month To Go On A Cruise?

cruise to Norway in winter

4. Lower labour costs

Cruise lines often employ workers from countries where wages are lower, which can reduce their labour costs.

Land-based hotels have to abide by minimum wage rules set by the government. But because cruise ships are at sea, those rules don’t apply. Cruise lines are therefore able to pay a wage which would be seen as reasonable to someone who usually lives in India, Eastern Europe or the Philippines, but which would be less acceptable to someone used to the high cost of living in the USA or UK.

Because crew members have their accommodation, food and medical expenses paid for and have no bills for gas, electricity, water, or running a vehicle, their daily expenses are very low. So even on a relatively low wage, cruise ship workers are often able to send money to their families.

Suggested read: How Much Do Cruise Ship Workers Make?

5. Onboard spending

While the upfront cost of a cruise might be relatively low, cruise lines often make a significant amount of their profits from onboard spending on things like drinks, speciality dining, spa treatments, WiFi and casino gaming. This model allows them to keep ticket prices lower.

It’s perfectly possible to have no bill at the end of your cruise. But the fact of the matter is that most people will spend several hundred pounds or dollars onboard during their cruise.

Receipt after eating from wonderland

6. Accommodation upgrades

The lowest prices that you see for cruises are usually for windowless inside cabins. But, most cruise ship cabins actually have balconies, and people are willing to pay a lot more for that privilege.

Because almost every hotel room in the world comes with a window or balcony, people have come to expect that ad standard, and so they may be turned off by the idea of a windowless inside cabin.

At scenic destinations such as Norway or Alaska, people will often pay two or three times as much for a balcony compared to an inside cabin.

And when it comes to suites, the price can raise as high as ten times as much.

7. Competition

Cruise lines hate to have empty rooms because then they lose out on all of the money that could be made from spending onboard. So, around 12 weeks before a cruise sets sail, they’re often forced to drop prices to avoid making a net loss on the sailing.

Before the shutdown, the world’s shipyards literally couldn’t build cruise ships fast enough to cope with the growing demand for cruises. Cruse lines had to put in their orders at least six years in advance to get new ships built.

But while demand then faded, it has now risen again and cruising’s as popular as it ever was, so this reason has become a little diluted since more and more people are now looking to cruise.

Suggested read: How Late Can You Book A Last Minute Cruise?

Cruise ships in Nassau

8. Cutbacks

Reducing the price of cruises to fill them has been necessary, but then that has in turn made it even harder for the business to be profitable.

To alleviate this problem, most cruise lines have had to make subtle cutbacks to be more efficient.

For example, you may no longer see chocolates on your pillows at night, you might not get towel animals and you may be charged if you request a second lobster tail at dinner.

These changes aren’t huge. Who really needed the corner of their duvet turning over in the evening anyway? But they have meant that cruise lines can reduce prices while staying afloat (if you pardon the pun).

How to find cheap cruise deals

Of course, not all cruises are cheap. And that’s part of how cruise lines make their money. Most people pay over the odds, but the cheap deals are there if you’re willing to look for them.

As you’ve read this far, I’ll gladly share that info with you. But I am conscious that cruise lines make a loss on those who book the cheapest cruises, and so if everyone did that they wouldn’t be able to offer them.

To find a cheap cruise, it starts with knowing which cruise lines to choose. So I’ve done some in-depth research on the prices of cruises, considering that some include things like port fees, taxes and gratuities in the price you see, and some make you pay extra for these.

Here are the cheapest cruise lines, in order. They’re not necessarily the best, but they do all offer good value for money. Cheap certainly doesn’t have to mean nasty when it comes to cruising.

Now, to find out exactly how to get the cheapest cruise deals, check out my guide to How To Find Cheap Cruises for a step-by-step guide to bag a bargain.

Carnival Liberty Suffers Triple Threat Delay Causing Guests To Board After Midnight

Guests waiting to board Carnival Liberty in New Orleans for the 14-night Panama Canal Carnival Journeys cruise faced extended delays on Sunday, 1st December 2024, after three separate issues caused extended delays,

Carnival Liberty

The cruise line had already advised guests that the ship would be late back to port following a diversion to Key West to disembark a passenger who needed medical assistance.

During this diversion, a problem developed with the cruise ship’s propulsion system, impacting her top speed and further slowing her down.

And if that wasn’t then enough, due to the delays the ship then hit unexpected Mississippi River traffic, meaning she returned to port even later than originally feared.

Initially scheduled for 10 a.m. check-ins, the first boarding group was instead asked to arrive no earlier than 8:45 p.m., with the final check-ins taking place as late as 12:15 a.m. on Monday morning.

Carnival Cruise Line urged guests to strictly adhere to these revised times to minimise congestion and delays at the cruise terminal.

“With more than 7,000 travelers moving through the New Orleans cruise terminal, cooperation with the revised schedule is essential to ensure smooth operations,”

Carnival clarified that the delay was not due to further technical issues but rather the complex scheduling involved in navigating the Mississippi River.

Cargo ships, recreational vessels, and other marine traffic impacted the cruise ship’s timing along the 120-mile route from the coast to the Port of New Orleans.

Of course, this didn’t just impact the guests waiting for their cruise to begin, but the many passengers onboard the ship who were due to disembark and may have missed connecting flights, or faced an unexpected overnight drive home.

To compensate for the lost day of onboard activities and entertainment, Carnival Cruise Line gave guests $25 per person in onboard credit and a pro-rated refund of the missed day’s cruise fare.

Guests who pre-purchased packages, such as drink plans, gratuities, or onboard Wi-Fi, will also receive pro-rated refunds.

Late arrivals to the ship were still granted access to the main dining rooms and Lido Marketplace buffet for open seating meals. However, many travellers may choose to dine elsewhere in New Orleans before boarding.

Refunds will be processed back to the original payment method but may take up to three weeks after the end of the cruise.

Despite the delayed embarkation, Carnival has assured passengers that the Carnival Liberty will now sail as scheduled for the 14-night Panama Canal cruise. The first two days of the itinerary are at sea, allowing the ship to recover lost time before arriving at the first port of call, Grand Cayman.

The voyage includes visits to iconic Southern Caribbean and Central American destinations such as Oranjestad (Aruba), Willemstad (Curaçao), Cartagena (Colombia), Colon (Panama), Puerto Limon (Costa Rica), and Cozumel (Mexico).
