Regent Seven Seas Cruises, one of the world’s most luxurious cruise lines, has released details of the 140-day world cruise set to take place in 2027 on Seven Seas Splendor.

Seven Seas Splendor

Costs for the cruise have also been confirmed. The Regent Suite, the best suite on the ship with 4,400 square feet of space, is set at $839,999 per person – or almost $1.7 million for a couple sharing.

This works out at $6,000 per person, per night. But guests who choose one of the entry-level Veranda Suites will ‘only’ pay $91,499 per person, or $654 per night.

This will be the first time a World Cruise will sail on board one of our magnificent Explorer-Class ships, Seven Seas Splendor, which was launched in 2020 and offers the highest standards of unrivaled luxury, and featuring the one-of-a-kind, 4,443 square foot Regent Suite.

Andrea DeMarco, President of Regent Seven Seas Cruises

The cruise will embark in Miami and visit 71 different ports of call, with 14 overnight stays on the itinerary. Pre-registry is open now for guests, but bookings will open on 10th April 2024.

The ship will travel across the Caribbean, the South Pacific, Australasia, Asia, Africa and Europe, with 73 UNESCO World Heritage Sites included.

It’s estimated that, during the cruise, 14,000 bottles of Champagne will be served along with 13,000 pounds of lobster and 150 pounds of caviar.

For guests who are budget-conscious, a smaller 126-day segment is available from Miami to Rome, for just $755,999 per guest in the Regent Suite!

12 Things I Loved About Sun Princess

I recently had the opportunity to check out Sun Princess, the newest and largest cruise ship from Princess Cruises. The cruise line invited me on as a guest for five days to check out everything that this new ship has to offer.

Sun Princess cruise ship

While I was on the ship, I wrote about my first impressions of Sun Princess that you can read here. Now that I am home from the cruise, here are 12 things that I loved about this new cruise ship from Princess.

The Dome

Let’s start at the top of the ship, where the Dome is located. In the above photo, you can see the Dome and where it’s located on Sun Princess.

This completed enclosed area offers incredible views and comfortable loungers and it’s going to be really popular on sea days. Princess will also have shows at night in this area adding to the ship’s unique entertainment.

There is a pool that is partially indoor and outdoors. You can swim from outside to inside the Dome.

The Piazza

For those who have sailed on Costa’s two new ships, you will be familiar with the layout of the Piazza. This open circular area allows for better entertainment with stadium-like seating on three floors.

On my cruise, there was everything from a silent disco, to Zumba, to game shows, and even a juggler in the Piazza. It really is the heartbeat and center of the ship.

Spellbound

Spellbound by Magic Castle is Princess Cruises’ newest Extraordinary Experience. When on my cruise, I was able to get a sneak peek of this area and the amazing experience that it offers.

The price is $149 per person and includes a special dinner (I did not get to sample this part) and entrance into Spellbound. There are several rooms in Spellbound including an intimate theater for close up magic.

One of the unique drinks offered in Spellbound on Sun Princess. Photo Credit: Cruise Fever

There is a bar with unique drinks that are not found anywhere else on the ship.  Everything is included (including drinks) in the $149 price tag and you can stay here as long as you want. They also have a nice selection of non-alcoholic cocktails for those who don’t drink. I tried them and they were delicious.

I would definitely recommend to book an earlier time for Spellbound. This allows you time to enjoy and explore this amazing area that is unlike anything else you can find at sea.

I didn’t go into too much detail on Spellbound because I don’t want to ruin all of the surprises here. You’re best off going in knowing a little, but not everything. You’ll understand once you’re onboard. It’s by far the best themed space I’ve seen on over 75 cruises.

Dress code for Spellbound is “Cocktail Attire”, something to take note of if you are booking this experience.

Crew

I can’t say enough good things about the crew on Sun Princess.  The group that works at Crooners, Wirat, Farral, Nino, Joy, April, and Mashael were nothing short of superb. Seriously, pay them a visit if you have a cruise booked on Sun Princess.

Everywhere I went on the ship, the crew was friendly and I overheard many passengers complimenting the staff on the amazing job they were doing.

The Eatery

The Eatery is the buffet on board Sun Princess and it is located off of the Piazza, this is a change from the traditional location by the pool deck. I think having it in this area works so much better since the Piazza is the heartbeat of the ship.

Our free cruise newsletter offers the latest cruise news and deals: Sign Up

At the very back of the Eatery, it turns into specialty dining in the evenings. However, for breakfast and lunch, it offers the same food as the rest of the buffet but usually isn’t as crowded.  This is where I went each morning because it was much easier to find a table, and usually quieter.

Main Dining Room

The main dining room is three floors but with a unique twist to deck 8. On deck 8, the main dining room is Americana Diner and it’s for those who want to get in and out without having a long dinner.

I ate here one night and we were in and out in 45 minutes. The food portions are a little small so don’t be afraid to order more than one thing if you are hungry. It’s such a great option if you don’t want a drawn-out dinner after a long day in port.

The Main Dining Room on Sun Princess. Photo Credit: Cruise Fever

For those who want traditional cruise dining, you can have that on decks 6 and 7. Deck 6 is for set times (early and late) with deck 7 for anytime dining.

No matter what you are looking for, there’s an option for you on Sun Princess.

Food

Since we are on the topic different places to eat, let’s talk about the food. There is a really nice variety of food options on board, from complimentary to specialty.  I wasn’t the only one impressed by the food quality on the ship.

Stewart Chiron, America’s most quoted cruise expert, said the following about the food on Sun Princess during my sailing: “Unequivocally, the food quality and options aboard Princess Cruises’ brand new Sun Princess has reached its highest level since its founding in 1965.”

This was my eighth cruise on Princess and it has by far the best food in the fleet.  From finger food options by the pool to Alfredo’s and Umai Teppanyaki, I loved every meal that I had.

Of course, Sun Princess also has the Princess staples, Crown Grill and Sabatini’s.

Sponsored Links

Cabins

Since it is Princess Cruises’ newest ship, it has the best cabins in their fleet. I stayed in a standard balcony cabin on deck 14. From the 55″ TV to more power outlets than you could ever use, it was a nice, comfortable cabin.

It amazes me how some new cruise ships still are still not putting power outlets on both sides on the bed. On Sun Princess, each side had multiple power outlets and the cabin really had everything you needed. There was plenty of storage, a good shower, and of course, the Princess Luxury Bed.

I have a video of my cabin in my first impressions piece that I linked to at the start of this article, for those are you interested.

Wake View Terrace

One of my favorite parts of the ship is the lower aft section. There a pool with glass walls that overlooks the ship’s wake, a bar, and plenty of loungers. It was never that crowded during my cruise because you do have to go a bit out of your way to get here.

Wake View Terrance on Sun Princess. Photo Credit: Cruise Fever

There’s also elevators here with glass walls for incredible views of the ship’s wake.

Elevators

I rarely take elevators on cruise ships, they are normally just too crowded for me and I enjoy the exercise from taking the stairs. On Sun Princess, they have “smart” elevators where you push the floor you want to go to and it tells you which elevator to take.

Even though the ship was near capacity, there was never a line and I usually had it all to myself, or with just 2 or 3 others.  This new system works incredibly well and every cruise ship should do what they did on Sun Princess.

High Ceilings in Parts of the Ship

Several areas of the ship, including the casino, have high ceilings that really open things up and make them feel less crowded and more comfortable. The high ceilings in the casino also help a bit with the nasty smell of cigarette smoke.

Princess Live!

Princess Live! is more open and has more seating than the ones found on Royal class ships. It makes this space so much better for trivia, bingo, and other activities.

Other Unique Features on Sun Princess

For those who like to shop, there are by far more shops on the ship than any other Princess ship.

The Sanctuary has been moved from the front to back of the ship.

While there is no basketball/sports court, there is a ropes course and other activities for families and younger cruisers on the top deck.

The Guests Services Desk has been moved away from the Piazza area and is now in an area completely by itself on deck 6.

There are two different places off of the Piazza to get coffee. There’s the International Cafe and Coffee Currents.

I really enjoyed my five days on board Sun Princess, it’s a great ship with an awesome crew.

Sun Princess is currently sailing cruises in Europe but will be repositioning to Florida this fall for cruises to the Caribbean. You can see prices for these cruises here.

Tips For Managing Your Business Remotely While On A Cruise

The allure of cruise vacations has captured the imagination of travelers across all income brackets.

According to Reuters, U.S. cruise operators and travel agents have reported a booking surge, surpassing pre-pandemic levels. This trend is partly driven by cruises’ affordability compared to land-based alternatives. This makes them an attractive option for travelers seeking value and adventure in 2024.

With rising occupancy levels and demand soaring, cruise operators anticipate hiking prices in the coming months. For entrepreneurs, embarking on a cruise presents a unique opportunity to balance work and leisure while enjoying the splendor of the open seas.

This article will explore five strategies for managing your business remotely while on a cruise.

1. Ensure Seamless Internet Connection

Staying connected is essential for managing your business while on a cruise. Invest in reliable internet access onboard or at port destinations to ensure seamless communication and access to important business resources.

Opt for a cruise ship equipped with Starlink internet to enhance connectivity. Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite internet service, offers high-speed internet access even in remote locations. This provides uninterrupted communication and access to online tools and platforms essential for business operations.

According to Speedcast, with Starlink Internet, business owners can easily conduct video conferences and access cloud-based files regardless of their location. This reliable connectivity empowers entrepreneurs to stay productive and engaged with their teams and clients while enjoying vacations.

2. Essential Gear and Connectivity Solutions

When preparing for remote work on a cruise, packing the essentials is crucial to ensure productivity and connectivity throughout your journey. Start by bringing a reliable laptop equipped with essential business software and tools.

Additionally, consider investing in a comfortable portable workspace, such as a laptop stand or ergonomic keyboard, to optimize your work environment onboard.

Since access to reliable internet may be limited at sea, it’s prudent to pack a universal adapter for various ports to charge your devices. Moreover, consider bringing a portable hotspot as a backup internet solution, especially if you anticipate relying heavily on online communication and tasks.

According to The Points Guy, relying solely on cellular service for internet access during a cruise can incur exorbitant fees. International phone plans may not apply to cruise ships, leading to steep charges for data usage, calls, and texts.

To avoid unexpected expenses, consider activating airplane mode on your phone and utilizing the ship’s Wi-Fi network. Many cruise lines offer shipboard plans allowing email access or VoIP services like WhatsApp for a flat fee. This provides a more cost-effective option for staying connected while at sea.

3. Use Productivity Apps

Productivity apps are instrumental in managing your business remotely while on a cruise. Practical E-commerce highlights many productivity apps available for Android and iOS devices. They include project management apps, collaborative tools, and communication platforms.

Team management apps like Slack offer a comprehensive productivity platform for team communication and collaboration. With features to organize channels, share documents, and integrate with various applications, Slack facilitates streamlined communication among team members.

Similarly, Bitrix24 provides a unified suite of productivity tools encompassing communications, task management, and customer relationship management (CRM). This enables seamless collaboration through group chats, file sharing, and task assignments.

Furthermore, ProofHub is a robust project management and team collaboration app that offers features such as project planning, task assignment, Gantt chart visualization, and custom reporting.

With these productivity apps, you can effectively manage projects, delegate tasks, and track progress, ensuring productivity while enjoying your cruise adventure.

4. Establish Communication Channels

Establishing clear communication channels is essential for maintaining workflow efficiency. Define preferred contact methods, such as messaging apps or video conferencing platforms, and ensure all team members are familiar with these channels.

Additionally, specify expected response times to facilitate timely communication and decision-making processes. By setting clear communication guidelines, you can minimize misunderstandings and ensure everyone remains aligned and informed, even while you’re away.

Regular check-ins will help keep the team connected and ensure that tasks progress smoothly, allowing you to manage your business operations effectively.

5. Delegate Responsibility

Allow trusted team members to oversee day-to-day operations in your absence. According to Forbes, the advent of AI delegation also introduces a new dimension to this practice.

Unlike previous technological revolutions focused on replacing manual labor, AI delegation targets managerial functions. It enables managers to leverage AI tools to streamline workflows and increase efficiency.

However, managers must understand the capabilities of AI and how they align with their business functions to implement AI delegation strategies effectively.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you work remotely from a cruise ship?

Yes, remote work from a cruise ship has become increasingly feasible due to improved Wi-Fi infrastructure. Many ships now offer reliable connections. This enables tasks such as video conferences, Zoom interviews, and access to company VPNs, mirroring the capabilities available at home.

How do you travel when working remotely?

When working remotely, travel requires careful planning and consideration of internet access, time zone differences, and communication channels. Portable work essentials, such as a laptop and reliable internet connection, are crucial for staying productive while on the move. Additionally, maintaining a flexible schedule helps accommodate work commitments during travel.

Can I do a Zoom meeting on a cruise?

Yes, you can do a Zoom meeting on a cruise, but the availability and quality of internet access may vary. Some cruise ships offer Wi-Fi packages that allow access to video conferencing platforms like Zoom. However, connection speeds may be limited, and additional fees may apply.

In conclusion, by embracing these tips and a little preparation, you can transform your dream cruise into a reality without jeopardizing your business success. With remote work becoming increasingly mainstream, combining work and travel is no longer a fantasy.

Set sail with confidence, knowing you have the tools and strategies to manage your business effectively, all while creating lasting memories. Bon voyage and productive working.

These Are The Best Times Of Year For Cruise Discounts

Your dream cruise probably comes with a hefty price tag, right? But what if there was a way to turn this dream into a reality without stretching your budget too thin?

The key ingredient is timing.

Just like there’s a perfect time to buy those concert tickets or snag that must-have Black Friday deal, there’s a golden window for booking cruises at a fraction of the cost.

A cruise ship with the word "discount" across the photo.

But where do you start? And how can you ensure you’re getting the best deal? Read on to find out all you need to know.

1. Wave Season: The Prime Time for Cruise Deals

Wave season – have you ever heard of it? If you’re eyeing up a cruise holiday but want to make your money stretch further, this is a term you should become familiar with.

Spanning from Late December until February, wave season is the cruise industry’s equivalent of the retail world’s January sales. It’s the time of year when cruise lines roll out some of their most enticing promotions, discounts and special offers.

But why does this happen at the start of the year?

Well, as soon as Christmas is out of the way, people start dreaming of their next getaway. Cruise lines, keen on filling their ships for the coming months, capitalise on this wanderlust by offering deals that are too good to ignore.

A birdseye view of about the beach with the gentle waves of the sea.

From significant price drops and cabin upgrades to onboard credit and reduced deposits, the variety of offers means there’s something tempting for every kind of cruiser.

Booking your cruise during wave season doesn’t just mean you’ll save money, though that’s a big part of the appeal. It also often means getting the best choice of cabins and itineraries.

Want that room with a view or a balcony? Or itching to explore a specific corner of the globe? Securing your booking in this prime window can make all the difference.

However, there’s a savvy way to approach these deals. Not all offers are created equal, and it pays to read the fine print. Look beyond the headline discount and consider what each promotion truly offers in terms of value.

And remember, while wave season can offer some fantastic deals, the early bird catches the worm. Popular routes and cabins sell out quickly, so it pays to be decisive.

2. The Early Bird Advantage

The booking window plays a crucial role in how much you’ll pay. Generally, the earlier you book, the better the rate you can secure.

Cruise lines are keen to fill their cabins well in advance, offering enticing rates to early birds who plan ahead.

For those of us with families, booking early can be a game-changer, especially for popular travel times like the summer holidays.

When cruising with the kids, I often book over two years before the departure date.

A tag with with "early bird discount" printed onto it.

To some, booking this far in advance might seem excessive, but it allowed me to lock in a price far lower than what it would be as the departure date approached.

This strategy ensured that we secured the cheapest cabin. It also means that you have plenty of time to save up, or to pay in monthly instalments.

This approach to booking isn’t just about financial savings; it’s also about peace of mind. Knowing you’ve secured a great deal well in advance takes the pressure off the months leading up to the holiday.

Suggested read: 5 Reasons Families Should Book Cruises in Advance

3. Last-Minute Bookings

Booking your cruise at the last minute is another strategy with the potential for hefty discounts.

Cruise lines aim to sail at full capacity. They will offer significant price cuts on remaining cabins as the departure date nears. This can result in substantial savings for those with flexible plans.

However, this approach does have limitations. The selection of cabins and destinations will be much narrower, potentially leaving you with less-than-ideal options.

You’ll need to have a flexible schedule, as the best deals often require quick decision-making and travel.

An hourglass on a beach, with the letters of "last minute" printed on each one.

It’s also important to consider the additional costs that can accumulate with last-minute travel, such as pricier flights or accommodations.

Despite these potential drawbacks, last-minute bookings can unlock unparalleled deals and adventures for the spontaneous traveller. This strategy is perfect for those open to exploring new destinations on a whim and at a fraction of the cost.

Suggested read: How Late Can You Book A Last Minute Cruise?

4. The Shoulder Season

Another tip for booking your cruise is to look for a cruise without the heavy crowds and high prices that come with peak season.

Aiming for the shoulder seasons might be your best bet. These are periods just before and after the busiest times for cruise destinations, and they offer a great mix of pleasant weather, fewer tourists, and better prices.

In the Caribbean, for instance, consider planning your cruise for May or early June or between late September and early November.

You’ll miss the busiest times of the year and could enjoy more of the islands to yourself. Just keep in mind that from June to November, hurricanes are a risk, but the lower prices might be worth it for some.

A photo of the Caribbean with the birght blue sea and mountains in the distance.

For those drawn to the Mediterranean’s charm, April to early June and September to October offer a sweet spot. The weather is still beautiful without the peak season’s crowds, making for a more relaxed experience.

Alaska’s breathtaking scenery is perhaps best enjoyed in May and September. With fewer tourists, you can appreciate the natural beauty and wildlife more peacefully. Cruising during these months also means lower costs, making the trip even more appealing.

Europe’s river cruises have similar off-peak periods in March and April and again in October and November.

The rivers are quieter, the sights less crowded, and the atmosphere more tranquil. It’s an ideal time for those who prefer a more laid-back travel experience, with the added benefit of finding some great deals.

Other Tips for Finding Discounts

It’s also not just about the time of year to book the best discounts; it’s about keeping an eye on any discounts.

Signing up for newsletters from cruise lines and dedicated cruise deal websites will give you the latest discounts and specials directly to your inbox. This means you’re always in the loop on flash sales, limited-time offers, and exclusive deals.

I also send out a selection of hand-picked offers every week, so be sure to sign up to my email list if you’s like those.

Use a Travel Agent

While finding good deals on your own is possible, using a travel agent can often lead to even better savings and perks. Travel agents have insider knowledge and access to exclusive deals that aren’t available to the public.

A lady wearing a pink blouse, sat at her laptop passing over a passport and tickets for travelling.

They can also provide invaluable advice on the best times to cruise, help with complicated booking procedures, and offer personalised suggestions based on your preferences. For those in the UK, Cruise 118 is the one I use most often.

They’re known for their exceptional customer service and access to a wide range of exclusive offers and perks that can make your cruise experience even more enjoyable and affordable.
