Passengers aboard Carnival Adventure have reported sewage-, rotten-egg-, and diesel-like odors, with some guests saying they experienced nausea, breathing difficulties, and other symptoms during recent Sydney sailings. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority confirmed to Cruise Mummy that it received an odor complaint in August and sent an inspector aboard the ship to speak with the captain and relevant crew.
AMSA said the odor was no longer present during the inspection, but its likely source and cause were identified. Carnival was already carrying out remedial work, and AMSA did not issue a formal defect. Cruise Mummy also reported first-hand passenger accounts involving plumbing and cabin-condition complaints. Carnival Adventure continues operating from Sydney.
