Royal Caribbean has six Oasis Class ships in service: Oasis of the Seas (2009), Allure of the Seas (2010), Harmony of the Seas (2016), Symphony of the Seas (2018), Wonder of the Seas (2022) and Utopia of the Seas (2024). All of them weigh between about 225,000 and 236,500 gross tons and carry roughly 5,500 to 5,700 guests at double occupancy. A seventh ship is being built in France and is due in 2028.

Oasis class ships share the same basic layout, but they are not identical. Each newer sister added venues, and the older ships have since had big “Royal Amplified” refits that brought them closer to the newest ones. This guide compares all six, explains the neighborhoods, shows where each ship sails in 2026-27 and helps you pick the right one.
All Oasis Class Ships Compared
The table below lists every ship in the Royal Caribbean Oasis Class in order of launch. Tonnage and capacity figures are Royal Caribbean’s own approximate numbers, and capacity is based on two guests per cabin, so the real number on board with families in triple and quad rooms is higher.
| Ship | Year | Gross tons | Guests (double) | What sets it apart |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Oasis of the Seas | 2009 | 226,838 | about 5,600 | The original; amplified in 2019 with waterslides, Ultimate Abyss and Playmakers |
| Allure of the Seas | 2010 | 225,282 | about 5,700 | Amplified in 2025 with a new pool deck, Perfect Storm slides and Pesky Parrot |
| Harmony of the Seas | 2016 | 226,963 | about 5,500 | First ship with Ultimate Abyss; 2026 refit added 100+ cabins and new venues |
| Symphony of the Seas | 2018 | 228,081 | about 5,500 | Hooked Seafood, Playmakers and the Ultimate Family Suite at launch |
| Wonder of the Seas | 2022 | 235,600 | about 5,700 | First with an eighth neighborhood, the Suite Neighborhood, plus Wonder Playscape |
| Utopia of the Seas | 2024 | 236,473 | about 5,700 | Built for short getaways; Royal Railway dining experience and Pesky Parrot |

Is there a seventh Oasis Class ship?
Yes, but not yet in service. Royal Caribbean Group ordered a seventh Oasis Class ship from Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France, in 2024. Steel was cut in October 2025 and the first block went into the dry dock in June 2026. The ship is expected to debut in 2028, and as of October 2026 Royal Caribbean has not announced its name, homeport or new features. Be wary of any site that states them as fact.
The Seven Oasis Class Neighborhoods
The big idea behind the Oasis Class was splitting a huge ship into themed “neighborhoods”, so 5,000-plus people never feel like they are all in one place. Every ship in the class has these seven:
- Central Park – an open-air garden in the middle of the ship with real trees and plants, and specialty restaurants such as Chops Grille and 150 Central Park (on most ships). It is the quietest outdoor space on board.
- Boardwalk – an aft, seaside-themed area with a carousel, casual food, Playmakers sports bar on most ships, and the AquaTheater at the far end for high-diving shows.
- Royal Promenade – the indoor “main street” with bars, shops, cafés and evening parades and parties.
- Pool and Sports Zone – the top decks: pools, FlowRider surf simulators, waterslides, mini golf, sports court and zip line.
- Vitality Spa and Fitness Center – the spa, salon and gym.
- Entertainment Place – the casino, comedy club, jazz club and Studio B ice rink.
- Youth Zone – Adventure Ocean kids’ clubs and teen spaces.
Wonder of the Seas and Utopia of the Seas add an eighth, the Suite Neighborhood, a private area for Star, Sky and Sea Class suite guests with its own lounge, sun deck, pool and restaurant. On the other ships, suite guests get a private lounge and restaurant but not a dedicated outdoor neighborhood.

How the Oasis Class Sisters Differ
Because of the refits, the gap between the oldest and newest Oasis class ships is smaller than their launch years suggest. Here is what you will actually notice on each one.
Oasis of the Seas
The first of the class was amplified in 2019, gaining the Perfect Storm waterslides, the Ultimate Abyss dry slide, Splashaway Bay for kids, Playmakers Sports Bar and Arcade, El Loco Fresh and laser tag. It still has a few original features and some older-style cabins, but day to day it feels much like its younger sisters.
Allure of the Seas
Allure’s amplification, completed in spring 2025 at a cost of more than $100 million, was the most extensive the class has had. It added a resort-style pool deck with casitas, the Perfect Storm slides, Ultimate Abyss, Splashaway Bay, Pesky Parrot tiki bar, Lime and Coconut, Playmakers, laser tag in the former ice rink space, an escape room, refreshed kids’ and teen areas, and Ultimate Panoramic Suites above the bridge. Because laser tag took over Studio B, Allure no longer has ice shows like most of its sisters, so check this if ice skating matters to your family.
Harmony of the Seas
Harmony was the first Oasis class ship built with the Ultimate Abyss and the Perfect Storm waterslides when it debuted in 2016. In April and May 2026 it spent five weeks in dry dock in Cadiz, Spain, as part of Royal Amplified. That refit added The Lime and Coconut, El Loco Fresh, Samba Grill, Playmakers (replacing Sabor on the Boardwalk), more than 100 new cabins including panoramic suites over the bridge, and a new livery. Royal Caribbean has also said Harmony is getting the largest casino in its fleet.
Symphony of the Seas
Symphony was the first ship built with Playmakers, Hooked Seafood and El Loco Fresh, and introduced the two-deck Ultimate Family Suite with its own slide and private cinema. It has Ultimate Abyss, laser tag and an escape room, so it still feels current without a major refit.
Wonder of the Seas
Wonder added the Suite Neighborhood, the Wonder Playscape outdoor kids’ area, The Mason Jar Southern restaurant and the Vue bar. Its pool deck was redesigned with a larger screen and an extra pool. It is a strong choice for suite guests and families with young children.
Utopia of the Seas
The newest sister was designed for 3- and 4-night party-style getaways. Highlights include Royal Railway – Utopia Station (a train-themed dining experience), the Pesky Parrot tiki bar, Pier 7 casual restaurant and the Suite Neighborhood. If you want a full week rather than a long weekend, another sister will suit you better because Utopia only offers short sailings.
Oasis Class Ships Ranked: Which One Should You Choose?
There is no official ranking, and any “best” list depends on what you want. Rather than ranking Oasis class ships from best to worst, it is more useful to match the ship to your trip:
- Newest features and suites: Utopia or Wonder, both with the Suite Neighborhood.
- A full week in the Caribbean: Allure or Symphony, which offer 6- to 8-night itineraries in 2026-27.
- A weekend or first cruise: Utopia, Wonder or Oasis on 3- and 4-night Bahamas trips.
- Families with toddlers: Wonder (Wonder Playscape) or Symphony (Ultimate Family Suite if budget allows).
- Value: Oasis and Harmony often price lower than the two newest ships for similar experiences.

Where the Royal Caribbean Oasis Class Sails in 2026-27
In winter 2026-27 all six ships sail from Florida, which makes them easy to reach for most US cruisers. Deployments change, so always confirm on Royal Caribbean’s Oasis Class page before booking.
| Ship | Homeport (winter 2026-27) | Typical cruises |
|---|---|---|
| Oasis of the Seas | Fort Lauderdale | 3 and 4 nights to Perfect Day at CocoCay and Nassau |
| Allure of the Seas | South Florida (Miami / Fort Lauderdale) | 6 and 7 nights, Western Caribbean and Perfect Day |
| Harmony of the Seas | Port Canaveral (Orlando) | 2 to 7 nights to CocoCay, St. Thomas and Jamaica |
| Symphony of the Seas | Galveston, moving to Fort Lauderdale in 2027 | 4 to 8 nights, Western then Eastern and Southern Caribbean |
| Wonder of the Seas | Miami | 3 and 4 nights to CocoCay and Nassau (through at least April 2027) |
| Utopia of the Seas | Port Canaveral (Orlando) | 3 and 4 nights to CocoCay, year-round |
Looking further ahead, Royal Caribbean has announced that Allure moves to Fort Lauderdale for 6- and 8-night cruises from May 2027, then back to Miami for 7-night sailings from November 2027. Oasis of the Seas spends summer 2027 at Cape Liberty, New Jersey, before returning to Fort Lauderdale for short Bahamas trips. Several of the Bahamas itineraries can also include the new Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in Nassau.
Oasis Class vs Icon and Quantum Class
The Icon Class (Icon, Star and Legend of the Seas) is bigger again, at around 250,000 gross tons, with features such as Category 6 waterpark and Surfside for young families, but it does not have Central Park’s quiet garden feel in the same form. If you are torn between the two, read our Icon Class vs Oasis Class comparison, or our head-to-head of Utopia of the Seas vs Icon of the Seas. Quantum Class ships are smaller (about 168,000 to 169,000 tons) and more indoor-focused, with North Star and RipCord by iFLY. Our Royal Caribbean ship classes comparison covers every class side by side.
Tips for Booking an Oasis Class Cruise
- Pick your neighborhood view. Oasis class ships have inside-facing balcony cabins overlooking Central Park or the Boardwalk. They are often cheaper than ocean balconies, but Boardwalk cabins can be noisy during AquaTheater shows.
- Book shows early. AquaTheater, ice shows and Broadway-style productions are free but need reservations in the app, and popular times fill up.
- Check the refit date. If a specific venue matters to you, check the ship’s current deck plan on Royal Caribbean’s site, because refits move and replace venues.
- Short cruises are busier. 3- and 4-night sailings tend to have more first-time and party crowds; weeklong trips are usually calmer.
