Port Canaveral with Update on 3,700-Space Parking Garage Coming Soon

The busiest cruise port in 2025 is getting ready for even more cruise passengers in 2026, and a new update for a parking garage that can hold 3,732 cars is getting a lot of attention.

Port Canaveral is already very accessible for cruisers looking to drive to the port and park during their vacation.  I’ve done this drive a few times myself and always found it to be a seamless experience.

Now the port is getting ready for a new phase for its massive parking garage.

This week, Port Canaveral officials confirmed that the Cruise Terminal 6 East garage has officially entered its vertical construction phase with placement of a massive 36-ton concrete wall section.

If You Build It They Will Cruise

The truth is that the parking garage is being built because so many cruisers are already sailing out of Port Canaveral.   So, the “Field of Dreams” adage doesn’t exactly fit here.

But now with easier accessibility to the port, it makes the decision to drive over flying a larger consideration.

The new facility is a direct response to Port Canaveral’s record-breaking growth. In the 2025 fiscal year, the port reclaimed its title as the world’s busiest cruise port, handling over 8.6 million passengers.

Did you know that about 80% of these travelers drive to the port?  That’s a pretty large percentage, so parking has become a major bottleneck on some cruise days.

This new 13-story parking garage is designed to help that congestion, specifically serving passengers for major cruise lines like Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian Cruise line.

Project Fast Facts

  • Capacity: 3,732 parking spaces.
  • Cost: $93 million.
  • Total Port Capacity: Once finished, the port will offer nearly 17,500 total spaces in total.
  • Timeline: Scheduled to open in Fall 2026, just in time for the winter high season.

Building While Sailing

No one wants to miss out on a cruise because of a parking garage being built, so to avoid any delays or cancelations of cruises, contractors are using a “building while sailing” approach.

The news today is that a huge wall section has been put into place.  Crews can advance the 13-story build level-by-level without suspending cruise schedules.

Besides just adding spots, the garage will feature modern tech like automated, cashless entry lanes and dedicated zones for rideshare services to help keep traffic moving on the surrounding Florida roads.

“Port Canaveral is not only the world’s busiest cruise port, but also one of the nation’s most convenient and easily accessible. Our focus on customers is essential to delivering a high-quality guest experience,” said Captain John W. Murray, Port Canaveral CEO. “This new parking garage is an investment in our commitment to making Port Canaveral the best it can be for our valued cruise partners and their guests.”

Dinner in an Hour? Carnival’s New ‘Express Dining’ Now on 15 Ships

Carnival Cruise Line just announced a new program that will allow passenger to enjoy their entire meal in the main dining room in under an hour.

Carnival introduces Express Dining

A huge part of the cruising experience is the food.  And cruise ships have more dining options than most first-time cruisers can even fathom.

But sometimes those main dining room experiences can take a while.  In fact, on more than one occasion I’ve missed the main show in the theater because dinner just took too long.

Sure, sometimes a nice long dinner with friends and other travelers can be a very enjoyable experience.  But other times you just want amazing food in a reasonable amount of time.

I know I’m not alone in this.

And that’s one reason Carnival Cruise Line just announced a new rollout called Express Dining.

It looks like the “Fun Ships” are finally offering a fun, fast alternative for those nights when you don’t want to dedicate your entire evening to a table in the Main Dining Room.

Here is what we know about this new program from today’s press release.

Carnival Cruise Line offers Express Dining, rolling out fleetwide by summer season_mid

The 60-Minute Mission

This new dining program is all about pace. Express Dining is a new “fast track” option within the regular Main Dining Room service, specifically designed to get you from your appetizer to your dessert in under 60 minutes.

At least, that’s the goal.

It’s the answer for those nights when the comedy show is in 45 minutes, the kids are starting to lose their minds, or when you just don’t feel like having an “experience”.  You just want a great meal.

You’ll still get great service and high-quality food, but the “dead time” between courses is cut down dramatically.

How It Works

This service is fully integrated into Carnival’s HUB App. When you’re ready to eat, you’ll check in via the app like you normally would. When you do, a new prompt will appear, asking if you want to opt-in to “Express Dining.”

It’s important to note this option is only for those using Your Time Dining.

If you have traditional, assigned seating (6 p.m. or 8:15 p.m.), you’ll probably stick with the standard pacing, though reports suggest staff will always try to expedite for guests who ask.

Table Sizes

The other caveat is table size.  Express Dining is limited to groups of six or fewer. If you have a massive table of 12, the logistics of a 60-minute service are still a bit too complicated for a program like this.

But if you’re eating with that many people, you probably don’t want to rush it anyway.

Rollout Schedule

Carnival is rolling this out right now. As of this morning, March 10, the program is live on 15 ships, including the new Excel-class (Mardi Gras, Celebration, Jubilee) and other ships like Venezia and Firenze).

Here’s the full list of ships on which Express Dining is currently available:

Carnival Jubilee, Carnival Celebration, Mardi Gras, Carnival Venezia, Carnival Firenze, Carnival Panorama, Carnival Horizon, Carnival Sunrise, Carnival Vista, Carnival Breeze, Carnival Radiance, Carnival Conquest, Carnival Dream, Carnival Glory, Carnival Freedom

The rest of the fleet is expected to have the new service active by the end of May 2026.

It should be noted that Royal Caribbean has a similar program, although their approach is a little different and times aren’t quite as fast.

While Carnival has introduced a specific “Express” opt-in, Royal Caribbean chose to overhaul its entire Main Dining Room menu back in 2023 to streamline the experience for everyone. By reducing the number of nightly options and moving to themed menus, they aimed to shave about 15 minutes off the average dinner, targeting a consistent 75-minute service fleetwide.

Bottom Line

Carnival Cruise Line’s president, Christine Duffy, said the program will give guests more time to enjoy all the other onboard fun on Carnival ships.

“Our guests continue to tell us they value greater flexibility in how they spend their time on board, and Express Dining was designed with that in mind,” she stated.

This is a smart move that finally addresses one complaint about the Main Dining Room: “It just takes too long.”

I look forward to testing it out myself and see if that 60-minute goal is possible to achieve while still not feeling rushed.  It’s a careful balance and cruisers will be the judge.

Princess Announces 2028 World Cruise

Princess Cruises has just revealed an epic 49-port 2028 World Cruise on a 2,000-passenger ship.

Coral Princess World Cruise 2028
ID 435584827 | Cruise © Nancy Pauwels | Dreamstime

The 115-day voyage onboard Coral Princess is scheduled to depart on January 3, 2028, offering roundtrip options from either Fort Lauderdale or Los Angeles.

The sailing covers about 36,000 nautical miles and crosses both the Equator and the International Date Line.

More Overnights and Late Stays

One of the common complaints of world cruising is the half-day stop that barely allows for a meal, let alone exploration.

This 2028 itinerary allows for more time to enjoy the ports of call through the “More Ashore” program.

  • Overnight Stays: The ship will remain docked overnight in Cape Town, South Africa, and Auckland, New Zealand.  This allows for two full days of exploration at each destination.
  • Late-Night Stays: There are 10 scheduled departures late into the evening, including stops in Barcelona, Sydney, Casablanca, and Honolulu.
  • UNESCO World Heritage Sites: The itinerary is specifically designed to hit 39 UNESCO sites, ranging from the Adriatic of Dubrovnik to the volcanoes of Hawaii.

2028 World Cruise Coral Princess

A New Stop for the History Books

One of the most unique details in this world cruise itinerary is the maiden call to Mossel Bay, South Africa.

While many cruises stop in the region for wildlife, Mossel Bay offers a lot for history lovers to enjoy as well.  This destination is home to huge caves containing archaeological evidence of modern human behavior dating back thousands of years.

This world cruise is also introducing formal safari shore excursions at South African preserves like Aquila and Pumba, where travelers can see lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and rhinoceroses.

The Itinerary Basics

Coral Princess, with a 2,000-double guest capacity, is right in the middle ground between mega-ships and smaller luxury vessels.

This size allows it to go through the Panama Canal while still not feeling “oversized” for such a long voyage.  The ship was built in 2002 and is about 91,627 gross tons in size.

  • Timeline: 115 days total, with flexible segments available ranging from 20 to 100 days.
  • Ports and Places: 49 ports across 24 countries and 5 continents.
  • Major Regions: The route passes through the Panama Canal, moves through the South Pacific to Australia and New Zealand, crosses the Indian Ocean to Africa, and finishes with a Mediterranean and Atlantic crossing.
  • Booking Incentives: Captain’s Circle members are eligible for up to $3,000 in onboard credit per stateroom.

You can check out this cruise here on the official Princess Cruises website.

A dedicated World Cruise 2028 Facebook Group has already been started so future passengers can connect nearly two years before the voyage begins.

According to the page, “This private group is designed to bring together the tight-knit community of world (cruise) travelers, made up of those that have traveled on past Princess World Cruises, those that are currently cruising, or will cruise soon, and those that are interested in booking a future World Cruise.”

Carnival Cruise Line Expands Express Dining To Speed Up Dinner Service Fleetwide

Carnival Cruise Line is expanding a new quicker dinner service option across its fleet, giving passengers the chance to enjoy a full meal in less time while still experiencing the line’s traditional dining room service.

The cruise line’s new Express Dining programme is being introduced to help guests avoid schedule clashes between lengthy dinners and evening entertainment.

The grandiose main dining room of the Carnival Dream cruise ship, elegantly set for dinner with a symmetrical design, rich wooden accents, and a striking red chandelier as the centerpiece.

The concept delivers a multi-course meal in under 60 minutes with a slightly reduced menu, allowing passengers to move on to shows, parties and other onboard activities more quickly.

Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy said the initiative was designed in response to feedback from passengers seeking greater flexibility during their holidays.

“Our guests continue to tell us they value greater flexibility in how they spend their time on board, and Express Dining was designed with that in mind,

“Our pilot program generated positive feedback from our guests. With this in mind, we are excited to expand Express Dining to offer them the same high quality dishes and attentive service our dining rooms are known for, while giving guests the ability to use more of their time to enjoy all the other onboard fun.”

Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

The new dining option is already available on 15 Carnival ships and will gradually expand across the entire fleet of 29 vessels. The cruise line expects the rollout to be complete by the end of May.

Passengers currently sailing on the following ships can already access the Express Dining service: Breeze, Celebration, Conquest, Dream, Firenze, Freedom, Glory, Horizon, Jubilee, Mardi Gras, Panorama, Radiance, Sunrise, Venezia and Vista.

Guests who wish to try the faster dining experience can inform their wait staff during dinner service. Those using the cruise line’s Your Time Dining option can also opt in through the Carnival Hub mobile app.

Designed To Fit Around Busy Evening Schedules

Express Dining aims to solve a common issue on cruise ships, where traditional dining room meals can take 90 minutes or longer. While many passengers enjoy the relaxed pace, others prefer a quicker option so they can attend evening shows, live music performances, dance parties, spa appointments or photography sessions.

Carnival Dining Room

The new service maintains the familiar multi-course structure of the main dining room experience but focuses on dishes that can be prepared and served more efficiently.

Carnival says all items will still be cooked to order to maintain food quality, even though the menu selection will be slightly smaller than the standard dining room offering. Some dishes that require more complex preparation may not be available as part of the Express Dining menu.

Popular favourites will remain available, including items such as filet mignon and grilled lamb chops, alongside a selection of appetisers, main courses and desserts.

The programme also preserves guest choice. Passengers who prefer the traditional, slower-paced dining experience can continue to enjoy the regular main dining room service with its full menu.

Building On Earlier Express Dining Experiments

The dinner service concept builds on an earlier initiative introduced by Carnival called Family Express lunch, which was first trialled on Carnival Vista at the Lido Marketplace buffet.

Following strong guest feedback, that lunch programme was expanded across the fleet in September 2025. Many passengers expressed interest in seeing a similar concept offered during dinner hours, which ultimately led to the creation of the Express Dining evening option.

There are still some limitations to the programme. Express Dining is only available for groups of six guests or fewer, as larger parties would make it more difficult for the kitchen to deliver multiple courses quickly and at the same time.

However, special dietary requirements, including allergies and other restrictions, will still be accommodated so that guests with specific needs can also use the quicker service if they choose.

Full Yacht Management Services In Vancouver: A Practical Guide For Boat Owners

Looking for professional yacht care that covers everything? Explore full yacht management services in Vancouver with Ignition Marine.

This guide explains how their team makes yacht ownership easier.

Why Yacht Management Matters in Vancouver’s Marine Environment

Vancouver’s waters are tough on boats. Salt, rain, and use can damage engines and hulls.

Full yacht management helps owners:

  • Maintain boat value
  • Comply with safety rules
  • Limit downtime
  • Keep systems running properly

This approach applies to both pleasure boats and fishing boats operating throughout the Lower Mainland in BC.

What Is Included in Full Yacht Management Services

Full yacht management handles the engine, electronics, structure, and appearance in one plan with one team.

1. Marine Service and Scheduled Boat Maintenance

Regular maintenance protects your yacht and engine. A typical plan often includes:

  • Engine service – diesel, outboard, or inboard
  • Oil and filter replacement
  • Pump checks and repairs
  • Battery testing and replacement
  • Cooling system inspection
  • Fuel system evaluation

Technicians trained in Mercury, Volvo, and Cummins keep your yacht reliable and reduce engine issues.

2. Boat Electrical Service and Electronic Systems

Yachts rely on electrical systems for navigation, communication, and comfort.
Boat electrical service typically includes:

  • Battery and charging system checks
  • Shore power inspections
  • Wiring repairs
  • Navigation electronics testing
  • Lighting and control panel fixes

Regular inspections are essential to keep yachts safe and running well in Vancouver marinas.

3. Structural Maintenance and Hull Protection

The hull and structural components require consistent monitoring in saltwater conditions.

Structural maintenance services may include:

  • Fiberglass repair
  • Gelcoat restoration
  • Bottom paint application
  • Corrosion inspection
  • Through-hull fitting checks

Bottom paint is especially important in Vancouver waters to prevent marine growth and maintain fuel efficiency.

Professional boat repair in this area protects long-term vessel integrity.

Marine Survey and Compliance Support

A marine survey provides a detailed evaluation of a vessel’s condition.

Surveys are often required for:

  1. Insurance renewals
  2. Vessel purchases or sales
  3. Financing approvals
  4. Damage assessments

A marine survey shows a yacht’s condition and needed maintenance. Management providers can handle scheduling and repairs.

Engine Service for Outboard, Inboard, and Diesel Systems

Engine reliability is critical for both pleasure boats and fishing boats operating in BC waters.

Comprehensive engine service may include:

  • Diagnostic testing
  • Fuel injector cleaning
  • Cooling system flushing
  • Transmission inspection
  • Exhaust system evaluation

Diesel engines stay efficient and protected with consistent service.

Detailing, Polish, and Waxing for Long-Term Value

Cosmetic care plays a role in overall yacht preservation.

Professional detailing services may include:

  • Exterior washdown
  • Waxing and polishing
  • Interior cleaning
  • Stainless steel treatment
  • Teak maintenance

Cleaning prevents damage and improves sale or charter potential.

Boat Shop Access and On-Site Marina Support

Boat maintenance is easier with nearby service. Ignition Marine, at Lions Gate Marina, helps vessels in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

On-site marina access offers:

  • Faster service turnaround
  • Secure dockside inspections
  • Efficient parts sourcing
  • Coordinated haul-outs when needed

Both pleasure and fishing boat operators can count on consistent, convenient service with a nearby location.

Services for Pleasure Boats vs. Fishing Boats

Different vessel types require tailored service plans.

Pleasure Boat and Yacht Owners

Owners focus on upkeep and appearance. Priorities include:

  • Keep comfort systems working
  • Upgrade electronics and navigation
  • Do seasonal maintenance
  • Polish and maintain appearance
  • Prevent future problems

This approach keeps the boat running smoothly and retains its value for years to come.

Fishing Boat Operators

Fishing boats may require more frequent mechanical oversight.

Common service needs include:

  • Heavy-duty diesel engine maintenance
  • Pump servicing
  • Structural inspections
  • Electrical troubleshooting
  • Rapid-response boat repair

Reliable engine service and mechanical support are critical for minimizing downtime in commercial operations.

Benefits of Choosing a Premier Marine Solutions Provider in BC

Working with an experienced marine team ensures coordinated service across all systems.

Ignition Marine specializes in:

  • Yacht sales
  • Boat mechanical service
  • Boat electrical service

The program is now available on 15 ships and will be fully implemented across the fleet by the end of May.

Carnival’s NEW Express Dining

Available nightly in each ship’s main dining room, Express Dining offers a freshly prepared multi-course dinner experience in under an hour for groups of six guests or fewer.

“Our guests continue to tell us they value greater flexibility in how they spend their time on board, and Express Dining was designed with that in mind,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “Our pilot program generated positive feedback from our guests. With this in mind, we are excited to expand Express Dining to offer them the same high-quality dishes and attentive service our dining rooms are known for, while giving guests the ability to use more of their time to enjoy all the other onboard fun.”

Express Dining complements Carnival’s traditional dining experience, giving guests the choice of a leisurely evening meal or a streamlined service that significantly reduces service time while maintaining a thoughtfully curated menu, mirroring the main dining room offerings, with a slightly abbreviated selection. Texas Road Trip Ideas: 3 Must-Visit Destinations

If you’re looking for the perfect road trip destination where the weather is just perfect after the summer months are done, Texas hits the spot. A great combination would be to go on some cruise adventures while following the sun and then plan something completely different to round things off. The best way to achieve that aim would be to take a Texas road trip.

Everything is big and beautiful in the Lone Star State. You only have to search RAM for sale in McKinney TX, to see the sort of vehicles that are just perfect for a Texas road trip. You can expect dramatic landscapes, lots of open space, and mild winters. All of this makes for some compelling reasons to make Texas part of your travel plans.

Here’s a look at some destinations there that simply have to be part of your travel plans.

Galveston deserves to be famous for more than one reason

First on the list is a destination that has legendary status in the world of country and western music. There’s no shortage of songs about Galveston, and it’s not hard to see why.

Although it is well known for being a beach city, Galveston is a great all-year-round destination. If you come here on your road trip in December, for instance, you will be able to enjoy its annual Dickens on the Strand Festival. It has the perfect backdrop for this event as Galveston is also renowned for its distinctive Victorian architecture.

Take in a heavy dose of nature at Big Bend National Park

If you want the opportunity to explore wilderness as nature at its finest as part of your road trip, Big Bend National Park is the perfect way to achieve that aim.

Equi-distant from El Paso and San Antonio, you will find this national park offers stunning desert scenery, including awe-inspiring mountains and canyons. Head to West Texas and you will find that Big Bend delivers all of your road-trip aspirations.

Don’t forget that the national park is a remote location, so be sure to prepare your vehicle and have everything you need for the trip on board.

Fredericksburg is a truly immersive experience

Another must-visit destination for your Texas road trip is the unique town of Fredericksburg. Located between Austin and San Antonio, this town has an unmistakable Germanic influence.

It isn’t just the impressive array of restaurants and wineries in the town, you can also explore some incredible nearby attractions such as Enchanted Rock. This distinctive pink granite mountain not only offers breathtaking views, you can also enjoy a hike, nature trails, and explore a range of caves.

It’s a good idea to book ahead of your visit to Enchanted Rock to avoid disappointment. It closes once visitor capacity has been reached.

As you can see, Texas is the perfect destination for an unforgettable road trip adventure. Pack everything you need in your truck or SUV and feel the excitement and anticipation grow as you make your way to the Lone Star State.

P&O Cruises Extends Final Payment Deadline To 120 Days For Future Sailings

P&O Cruises is introducing a longer lead time for guests to settle the balance on their cruise bookings, with final payments moving to 120 days before departure for certain future sailings.

The updated payment policy applies to all new bookings made from 10th March 2026 for voyages departing on or after 1st December 2026. The cruise line confirmed the change in a notice sent to travel partners, outlining the new balance deadline.

Boarding a cruise at Southampton

“From tomorrow, 10th March, our balance due date will change to 120 days before departure on new bookings for all cruises sailing from 1st December 2026,” the cruise line shared with travel partners.

Existing reservations will not be affected by the change.

Guests who booked before 10th March 2026 will continue to follow the current policy, which requires the final balance to be paid 90 days before the sailing date. The same rule will apply to any bookings made after that date for departures up to and including 30th November 2026.

“For your customers booked before 10th March, 2026, nothing will change. Their final balance will still be due 90 days before departure with current booking conditions,” P&O Cruises said.

The shift effectively brings the cruise line’s payment schedule forward by an extra month compared with its longstanding policy.

Why Cruise Lines Are Moving Final Payments Earlier

Requiring payment further in advance allows cruise operators to secure revenue earlier in the booking cycle and reduce the risk of last minute cancellations.

The additional time can also be beneficial operationally. If a guest cancels close to the sailing date, cruise lines have a longer window to resell the cabin to another passenger, helping to maintain occupancy levels.

The new structure also aligns P&O Cruises more closely with payment policies already used by several brands within its parent company, Carnival Corporation.

booking cruise early

While each brand sets its own booking terms, some already operate with longer payment timelines than the traditional 90-day window.

For example, Princess Cruises generally requires final payment 90 days before departure for most sailings, but itineraries lasting more than 14 days and segments of world cruises typically require payment 120 days ahead.

Holland America Line operates a similar system, with many standard cruises requiring payment at 90 days while longer voyages and Grand Voyages have earlier deadlines.

Luxury and premium brands within the group frequently require even earlier payment. Cunard and Seabourn commonly require balances to be paid 120 days before sailing, with some extended itineraries requiring payment as early as 150 days before departure.

Payment Policies Across The Cruise Industry

Outside the Carnival Corporation portfolio, several major cruise lines already use similar payment timelines depending on cruise length.

Royal Caribbean generally requires final payment 90 days before departure, although sailings of 15 nights or longer require payment 120 days in advance. Shorter voyages of fewer than five nights often have a shorter 75-day deadline.

Disney Cruise Line typically requires final payment 120 days before sailing for cruises longer than five nights, while shorter sailings follow a 90-day schedule.

Virgin Voyages introduced a 120-day final payment requirement as its standard policy when the brand launched in 2021. Norwegian Cruise Line also generally requires balances to be paid 120 days before departure regardless of cruise length.

Passengers sailing with P&O Cruises from December 2026 onwards will therefore be among the first to experience the new payment structure.

Most P&O Cruises’ sailings depart from Southampton, with additional fly-cruise itineraries operating from destinations such as the Canary Islands, Barbados, Antigua and Malaga.
