Scam Alert As Popular Cruise Personalities Are Impersonated Online

Passengers aboard Carnival Cruise Line ships have been issued a stark warning after scammers began impersonating one of the company’s most popular cruise directors in a bid to steal money and personal information.

Kyndall Fire Scam Warning

Kyndall “Fire” Magyar, currently serving as Cruise Director aboard the flagship Carnival Jubilee, has alerted her followers to a series of scam attempts falsely using her name and likeness.

Magyar, who boasts over 150,000 followers on Facebook and nearly 50,000 on Instagram, made it clear that she would never solicit money, special treatment, or access to exclusive content in return for payment.

“Please never ever fall for any of these people,” Magyar cautioned. “I have not and will not ever ask you to buy a package, promise special treatment or tours, or give you access to premier content for a cost.”

She warned guests not to trust any messages claiming to be from her “team” or “handler”, stressing that such communications are fraudulent.

Kyndall Fire Scam Warning

How the Scam Works

Magyar shared an example of a scam message that thanked recipients for agreeing to become a “mid-level donor”, before requesting payment via a PayPal address from a free email server.

Poor grammar, formatting errors, and inconsistent language offered early clues that the message was illegitimate.

Alarmingly, the scammers also requested the recipient’s full name and a photograph, potentially leaving victims vulnerable to identity theft.

Magyar encouraged guests to report fake accounts and never to send money or personal details to unverified sources.

Other Carnival Figures Targeted

Kyndall Magyar is not the only Carnival figure being impersonated by scammers. John Heald, Carnival’s Brand Ambassador with nearly 650,000 combined followers across Facebook and Instagram, has also been targeted.

One recent case saw a guest tricked into believing she was chatting privately with Heald, only to be asked to purchase an Apple subscription on his behalf.

Facebook post from John Heald about scams

Heald stressed that he never communicates privately with guests, even for sensitive matters, and conducts all communication through public posts.

“I feel genuinely sorry for this poor lady and I have let her know how sorry I am,” Heald said. “But this of course was not me. This is one of the many fake pages trying to make money from you.”

The rise of scams targeting cruise guests is a growing concern across the industry. In 2024, a family scheduled to sail aboard Carnival Celebration had their $15,000 cruise cancelled after sharing booking information online, exposing them to fraudsters.

Other cruise lines, including Virgin Voyages and Royal Caribbean, have issued similar warnings as scams around tours, port transfers, onboard credit, and bookings continue to evolve.

Cruisers are urged to remain vigilant, engage only with official representatives, and avoid sharing sensitive information on public platforms.

As scammers become increasingly sophisticated, extra caution is necessary to ensure a safe and enjoyable cruise experience.

Cruising With Sharks: The Hidden Reality

Cruise ships spend their time sailing across oceans and seas, so it makes sense that a lot of people wonder whether they might see sharks on a cruise.

After all, sharks are the biggest and most famous fish in the sea, and catching a glimpse of one is something that would excite many people and bring fear to others.

People in white ship on sea looking at a shark

So let’s dive in and find out more about sharks and the chances of seeing one from a cruise ship.

Myth Busted: Sharks Don’t Follow Cruise Ships

Sharks aren’t able to swim at the speed of a cruise ship for a sustained period, so they’re not capable of following them. There’s also no real reason for them to follow a cruise ship, as there is limited discharge.

Sharks are actually nowhere near as fast as a cruise ship. The average cruising speed of a shark is around 5 miles per hour, although they can reach around 12 mph for short bursts when they are pursuing their prey.

These figures are well short of the speeds of a cruise ship. Cruise ships sail at an average of 23 miles per hour (20 knots), with maximum speeds reaching about 34.5 miles per hour (30 knots).

Queen Mary 2 is the fastest cruise ship

So, clearly, it’s not really possible for a shark to follow a cruise ship once it is up to speed.

It would be possible for a shark to follow a cruise ship when it’s moving more slowly near to port. But would they want to?

Aside from a natural curiosity, there’s little reason for a shark to pursue a cruise ship. Unlike a fishing vessel, there is no by-catch or discharge to offer an easy meal to a shark.

Usually, the only discharge from a cruise ship is treated sewage, which is not exactly an attractive dinner option. Some cruise ships do discharge food waste, but this is already pureed and so is more tempting for small fish than large sharks, who prefer a heartier meal.

There’s no great incentive for sharks to follow in the wake of a cruise ship and this is probably why sightings are relatively rare.

Seeing Sharks From A Cruise Ship

Sharks are big creatures, so if they were to come close to a cruise ship, there’s a good chance that you would be able to see them, but I have spent a lot of time on cruise ships and I’ve never seen a shark (I have seen dolphins and whales).

Guests on cruise ship looking at the sea

This doesn’t mean that there is no chance of seeing one. I have searched extensively for reports of shark sightings from cruises and have found the following quote:

“I have seen sharks from the deck of our cruise ship. We were docked in Acapulco, and I saw several sharks lurking in shallow water (about 4–6 feet deep, I’d estimate) between the pier and the shoreline.”

So you definitely can see sharks from a cruise ship, but sightings seem to be pretty rare and a follow-up comment from a musician who spent 10 years on a ship without seeing a shark:

“In the 10 years I spent working on cruise ships I saw many dolphins, flying fish, the odd whale, and two Orchas (mother and pup?) “breaching” like dolfins(sic) do – a sight that will live with me forevermore – but no sharks! Cruise ships stay in deeper water and avoid swimmers, surfers, seals and other prey for sharks.”

The area that you visit on a cruise will play a big part in the likelihood of you seeing sharks. You are far more likely to spot a shark in shallow, clear waters and in areas with a stable shark population.

One of the best places to see sharks is the Bahamas, but you may also have a chance to catch a glimpse of a shark in places like Mexico, Australia, Hawaii and the Caribbean.

Shark Sightings On Cruise Ships

These days, everyone has a camera and likes to share what they see online. So, you’d think there would be plenty of photos and videos of sharks taken from cruise ships. But, from my research, there are very few.

By far, the most well-shared video of a shark from a cruise ship was taken in Massachusetts from a cruise on a tall ship. In the video, you can clearly see the huge basking shark getting very close to the ship.

If you’re feeling nervous, having watched that video, please note that basking sharks are gentle giants and pose no threat to humans!

People sometimes report seeing a shark at Royal Caribbean’s private island, CocoCay, in the Bahamas. These are lemon sharks, which, again, are harmless to humans. They don’t bite people unless provoked and even then, any damage from their small teeth would be minimal.

CocoCay

The fact that there are so few videos or reports of sightings suggests that seeing a shark from a cruise is a very rare treat.

If you’d rather not leave shark sightings to chance, then it is possible to go on a shark encounter as a shore excursion. This will give you the chance to see a shark up close and personal from the safety of a cage. This would definitely be a very memorable part of any cruise!

Cruise Ship Shark Attacks

Given that shark sightings from cruise ships are so rare, you may not be surprised to learn that shark attacks on cruise ships are almost unheard of.

Even if you have a really extreme fear of sharks, then I think that you should feel pretty safe onboard a cruise ship, given the vast size of a ship compared to a shark.

Great white sharks can grow up to 6.5 metres long, but this pales in comparison to a cruise ship, which can be over 350 metres long.

the jumping great white shark

So you’re safe onboard a cruise ship, and the only risk of a shark attack is if you are already in the water.

Sadly, American teenager Cameron Robbins died after jumping off a party boat during a sunset cruise in the Bahamas. There is speculation that he was attacked by a shark.

There was also a confirmed shark attack that killed a female cruise passenger when she was on a snorkelling excursion.

This was also in the Bahamas, which is one of the best places in the world to see or swim with sharks. Shark attacks on humans are incredibly rare, with just 32 reported in the Bahamas since the 18th century.

The Bottom Line

The chance of seeing a shark from a cruise ship is very small. This is a bit of a shame, given that seeing one of these magnificent creatures would surely provide one of the more memorable moments on any cruise.

You can be reassured that the chance of being attacked by a shark when on a cruise ship is basically zero.

If seeing a shark on a cruise is important to you, then it’s worth considering travelling to a destination where you’re able to arrange a shark encounter in a safe and controlled environment. This can be arranged in Hawaii and the Bahamas, and potentially some other destinations. However, you may think twice about the idea after reading this.

If you’re not so keen, then you might be happy to console yourself with the sight of whales and dolphins from your cruise ship.

View of two bottlenose dolphins jumping by the ship

This is a much more common sight since both whales and dolphins like to leap out of the ocean, making them far easier to spot. Dolphins are particularly common since they frequently swim along ships, jumping over the bow wave.

MSC Changes Popular Infant Policy At Short Notice & Cancels Impacted Guests’ Bookings

MSC Cruises has made a major change to its policy on cruising with infants, and has done so at short notice. The change has meant that many guests are being forced to cancel their cruises, although sometimes only with a partial refund.

Toddler on P&O Britannia

From 15th May 2025, children must be at least two years old – 24 months – on the day of embarkation to board any MSC Cruises voyage lasting 11 nights or more.

Infants under the age of two will no longer be permitted on these longer cruises.

“For sailings of 11 nights or longer departing on or after 15th May 2025, children must be at least 2 years old (24 months) on the day of embarkation,

“Infants under 2 years of age will not be permitted to sail on these itineraries.”

MSC Cruises website

The cruise line cites safety concerns for the new policy, particularly highlighting the challenges of providing urgent medical care to very young children during extended periods at sea, far from ports of call.

“This policy is due to long cruises often having multiple days at sea, which can impede our ability to provide urgent medical care for infants.”

MSC Cruises website

Impact on Booked Families

Families who had already booked cruises departing after the policy change have voiced concerns across social media platforms. Some passengers report that refunds are being offered, though not without some complications.

“Only refunds being given to the cabins the baby is in,” shared one affected guest. “So, if like me, you’ve booked a family holiday consisting of three cabins, you will not be fully refunded.”

Officially, MSC Cruises has advised that guests affected by the new policy will be offered a “Free Cruise Move” to another sailing at new pricing. Alternatively, cancellations will follow the line’s standard cancellation policies.

One important note is that the policy does not apply to families who have booked two consecutive 7-night cruises. These are treated as two separate sailings, thus exempt from the new restrictions.

Prior to this update, MSC Cruises permitted infants as young as six months old to sail on most itineraries, with a minimum age of 12 months for longer or more remote voyages.

There was previously no general restriction for infants under two years old on cruises of 11 nights or more.

The new policy represents a shift in approach as MSC Cruises continues to emphasise safety protocols aboard its fleet.

Despite the stricter rules for longer sailings, MSC Cruises still wishes to be seen as being a family-friendly cruise line. In partnership with Chicco, ships are equipped with a range of baby items such as bottle warmers, cots, highchairs, and strollers.

Restaurants and room service can assist with warming bottles and baby food, and onboard shops carry essential items like nappies and formula.

For entertainment and care, the cruise line offers Baby Clubs for infants up to three years old, with dedicated spaces and qualified staff. Parents can opt for MSC Baby Time – where they stay and play with their little ones – or MSC Baby Care, which allows parents to leave their children with trained staff for short periods.

However, MSC Baby Care has limited capacity and is available to a maximum of 15 infants at a time.

How To Get The Best Cruise Deals

Who doesn’t love getting an amazing deal on a cruise? The more you save, the more you can splash out on cocktails, excursions, or even book your next trip sooner!

In this guide, I’ll show you how to score the best prices on cruises without settling for boring routes or bad weather. It’s all about getting your dream cruise — and paying less for it.

Cruise Mummy with the Disney Wish cruise ship at Castaway Cay

I’ve another guide if you just want the cheapest cruises possible so check that out instead.

How To Find Good Deals On Cruises

There are two parts to getting the best deal on your cruise holiday. Part of that is getting the most value, and the second part is getting the lowest price on the cruise you actually want. Let’s start with the value side and look at how you find the best deals on cruises.

Comparison Is Key

There is no single travel agent that always has the best cruise deals. Instead, you need to check with a variety of travel agents, as each one will have different deals available. The only way to get the best deals is to compare them against each other.

Sounds like a lot of work, right? Well, it can be, but not always. Some travel agents don’t have the best websites, so phoning them all can take a bit of time, but there are ways around the work, and that’s to look at a deals comparison website.

These let you compare all the deals in one place, rather than bouncing back and forth between a hundred different browser tabs or phoning agents back and forth. Cruise Critic’s Deals Comparison tool does a great job of bringing all the best deals together and explaining what makes them good value. It’s sort of like a cruise comparison site, letting you compare cruise deals easily.

It works in most countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom.

The Best Website For Cruise Deals

There are a number of websites that claim to be the best for cruise deals, but most of those will be travel agents, and their claims will just be marketing techniques. They’ll use clever language to explain why their service is ‘the best’, but they might not actually have the best deals.

Then there will be some that are not travel-agent based, but they have an affiliation with a cruise line, or maybe a cruise group that owns multiple cruise lines, and so again you’re presented with a biased list of deals that may actually exclude the perfect deal for you, just because it’s from a non-supported cruise line.

So the best website for cruise deals is one which doesn’t have any biases or affiliations and can offer a neutral perspective, which again comes back to the Cruise Critic Deals Comparison site.

Cruise Critic deals website

Cruise Critic is an independent website which lets customers compare and discuss all cruise lines, and their deals page is simply a collection of the best deals, ranked by its algorithm, which looks at the fare, the inclusions, the ship and more.

Last-Minute Cruise Deals

Last-minute cruise deals do exist and you can get a good price if you are willing to travel at short notice, but you have to be very flexible – you may only get a few days to arrange your transport to port, and your choices of stateroom will be limited.

It’s not advisable to hold off and hope you get a last-minute cruise deal because you might end up disappointed, either with the ship and itinerary that are available on the dates you’re free, or there may be nothing available at all.

However, if you find yourself with some free time at short notice – maybe another holiday was cancelled – then it’s worth checking out the last-minute deals available. You can sometimes book right up to the day of departure, depending on the cruise line.

As a guide, last-minute deals for families aren’t really a thing. The cabins that can sleep 3 or 4 people (or sometimes more) tend to sell out quickly, while the cheapest cabins for those groups will definitely go first. If you’re travelling with your kids, book earlier to get better deals.

How To Get The Best Price For Your Cruise

Now, let’s take a look at how to get the best price for your ideal cruise.

woman happy to go on a cruise

The Cheapest Way To Book A Cruise

The cheapest way to book your cruise is normally with a travel agent and usually over the phone if you have time. This gets you access to some of the best deals but lets your agent fully understand what you’re looking for, to help you get the best price too.

A lot of people prefer to book cruises online, and that’s understandable. It’s a lot more convenient since you can do it while you’re on a lunch break at work (or even when you’re supposed to be working), and usually, it’s a fairly pain-free process.

But it relies on you being pretty clued up on cruises and knowing exactly what you want. Remember that a travel agent’s entire job is to be an expert in cruise holidays, so unless you think you know as much as they do, you might be better off giving them a call.

Yes, it can be more time-consuming, but it’s the easiest way to get the best price. Your travel agent will be able to listen to your requests, look at everything you want from your cruise, and then work out how to get you the best price.

They might be able to offer alternative dates that suit you or cruise lines with a better price if your only must-haves are the dates and itineraries. They won’t try to talk you into the wrong cruise (as long as they’re not a bad travel agent) but will only help you to get the best price possible for the things you want from your cruise holiday.

Travel agent wearing headset

And then there’s the option of a Best Price Guarantee, which a lot of cruise lines will offer but many travel agents will honour too. If you book with a Best Price Guarantee, that means you’ll only pay the best price that is advertised for your cruise.

So if you book, and then three months later, the same offer is available for less, then you’ll pay the lower price.

It has to be an exact match, though. If you book a fare that includes your drinks and WiFi, and then a special offer is released three months later that’s a super-cheap price but doesn’t have those inclusions, you can’t get the same rate and keep your extras.

If you’re looking for a cruise and think you’ve found your deal, consider booking with an agent that offers a Best Price Guarantee.

Read More: Best Price Guarantee – My Recommended Travel Agents

Booking Directly With The Cruise Line

In most cases, it’s cheaper to book through a travel agent rather than booking directly with a cruise line. You aren’t cutting out the middleman by going directly to the cruise line, but you’re creating more work for them, so their rates are usually a little higher.

This often surprises people, because you assume that a travel agent’s rate is going to be higher – after all, they have to get their own cut too, which you would think is added onto the standard fare.

That’s not normally how it works, though. Normally, travel agents have agreements in place with cruise lines to access a lower rate, so that when their commission is added on top, the price is similar anyway.

Smiling couple booking a cruise with a travel agent

Do travel agents get better deals on cruises? Sometimes, if they negotiate with cruise lines for bulk bookings, this will get them a discount. This discount can be passed on to the customer, lowering their cruise fare.

Plus, travel agents will often have quite complex agreements with cruise lines for certain targets, which may unlock extra bonuses.

These bonuses are often more valuable than the commission on a single booking, and so a travel agent might offer a discounted rate to customers in order to make sure they reach their bonus threshold, sometimes even giving you the cruise at cost price with zero commission for them.

Cruise Mummy Cruise Ship

The Bottom Line

Unless you’re working with a really tight budget, it’s important not to compromise on your cruise holiday. You don’t want to go for the cheapest option available only to feel like it’s a bit of a letdown.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t try to get the best deals on the cruises you do actually want – you should absolutely do that.

I would recommend checking out the Cruise Critic Cruise Deals to get a look at the best deals from a wide range of cruise lines, and then speak to a travel agent in order to get the best price possible – ideally over the phone if you have time.

History And Ritual Of A Lasting Bath

Turkish hammams are ancient places of purification, relaxation, and conviviality. These traditional bathhouses, so central to Ottoman and Islamic tradition, provide an experience that blends steam, water, massage, and ritual ablution into a body-mind reviving event. In contemporary times, visiting the hammam is as much a cultural activity as it is relaxing in a place that has altered relatively little over the centuries.

Discovering Turkey’s best hammams generally involves going off the tourist trail, away from large tourist centers. While public transport will deliver you to famous baths in Istanbul, discovering off-the-beaten-track treasures in small towns is better achieved through private transport. Opting for a car rental turkey gives tourists the liberty of exploring ancient hammams and secluded thermal spas on their own schedules. Localrent, an aggregator of local car rental companies, facilitates access to secure and affordable automobiles for travelers wishing to enjoy Turkey’s authentic well-being culture.

The Roots of Turkish Hammams

Turkish hammam has been borrowed from Roman and Byzantine baths, which were adopted by the Ottoman Empire and expanded into a more ritualistic and decorative form. The concept was adapted from Islamic purification rituals which emphasize cleanliness as a physical necessity and also as a religious duty.

During Ottoman times, the hammams were more than just where one bathed. Hammams were public gathering places where one went to socialize, rejoice, and even hold weddings. Hammams were also a relaxation from the confines of daily life for women, who would go there and spend hours lounging, gossiping, and receiving beauty treatments.

The Hammam Ritual: A Step-by-Step Experience

Turkish Hammams: History and Ritual of a Lasting Bath | 28Turkish Hammams: History and Ritual of a Lasting Bath | 28
Turkish Hammams: History and Ritual of a Lasting Bath 3

Stepping into a standard Turkish hammam is to step into a world of one’s own—a world where time loses its rush and senses are purged with heat, steam, and the scent of olive soap. The ceremony is usually so coordinated as to permit maximum relaxation and purification.

  1. Acclimatization in the Warm Room

The excursion begins in a hot room (ılıklık), where the visitors acclimatize to hot and moist conditions. They undress there and wrap themselves in a pestemal (a thin cotton towel) and slippers before moving to the middle of the hammam.

  1. Steam Bath in the Hot Room

The second procedure is the hararet, a steam room with marble that has a heated central platform known as the göbek taşı (navel stone). Because heat opens pores and relaxes muscles, visitors have hot water poured over them from copper bowls in adjacent basins.

  1. The Kese Scrub – Deep Exfoliation

A skilled tellak (bath attendant) or natır (female attendant) follows up with the application of the kese — a refreshing exfoliation with a coarse mitt to remove dead skin cells. This not only cleans the skin, but it also warms the blood, leaving it incredibly smooth and refreshed.

  1. The Soap Massage – A Cloud of Foam

Following the scrub, the guests are then indulged in a soap massage of luxury where the tellak creates fluffy amounts of foam through the use of a cotton bag containing soapy water. The firmer but softer massage unwinds the muscles and completes the cleaning process.

  1. Rinsing and Cooling Down

The final step is to rinse off using cool running water in the showers and go on to the rest area, where the tourists receive traditional Turkish sherbet (fruit juice which is sweet) or Turkish tea while they recline on cushions.

Çemberlitaş Hammam (Istanbul)

Built in 1584 by the famous Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan, this historic Istanbul Old City hammam is the most authentic and breathtaking Turkish bathhouse. The breathtaking domed ceiling and elegant marble facilities are an experience of a lifetime.

Kılıç Ali Paşa Hammam (Istanbul)

Located in Karaköy, this hammam was originally built for Ottoman naval officers in the 16th century. It has recently been restored and now offers a luxurious but traditional bathing experience with facilities.

Süleymaniye Hammam (Istanbul)

One of the stunning Süleymaniye Mosque complex, this hammam offers a mixed-sex bathing experience that is unique and perfect for couples who would like to share the ritual together.

Bursa’s Thermal Hammams

Bursa, the nature thermal baths, boasts some of Turkey’s oldest hammams. Mineral springs used in the hammams of Eski Kaplıca and Yeni Kaplıca offer healing benefits in addition to relaxation, perfect for international visitors who seek relaxation in addition to healing therapy.

Pamukkale’s Antique Pool (Cleopatra’s Pool)

For a special treat, visitors can soak in Pamukkale’s hot springs, which are reputed to have been frequented by none other than Cleopatra herself. The calcium-rich water of the natural spa is said to revitalize the skin and body.

Hammam Etiquette: What You Need to Know Before You Go

Visiting a Turkish hammam for the first time can be intimidating, but having some important customs in your back pocket will make for a seamless and enjoyable experience.

  • Select the Right Hammam – There are hammams that are exclusively for tourists, and some are for locals. If you desire a trapezoidal experience, investigate in advance.
  • Wear the Traditional Attire – Most hammams include a pestemal (towel), but you may bring your own if you prefer. Some are okay with bathing suits, but most are nude-friendly.
  • Expect Physical Scrubbing – The Kese scrub is quite rigorous, so expect a rigorous exfoliating experience.
  • Unwind and Don’t Rush – Hammams are for unwinding, so don’t hurry so much to complete the process.
  • Tipping is Expected – Tipping bath attendants is an expected custom for their service, typically 10-20% of the charge.

An Immortal Rejuvenating Experience

Turkish hammams aren’t bathhouses, however; they’re a step back in time, culture, and decadence. Indulging in the excess of an Istanbul Ottoman-era hammam, unwinding in Bursa’s therapeutic waters, or unwinding in a lesser-visited gem off the beaten path is an experience that revives body and spirit.

For tourists who would like to go to a number of hammams in different regions of Turkey, a flexible means of transportation is priceless. With Localrent, tourists can easily locate cheap car rentals all over Turkey so that they can go to both popular and off-the-beaten-path hammams at their own convenience.

A visit to a Turkish hammam is an experience, a ritual, a tradition, and sheer indulgence – one not to be overlooked on a trip to this fascinating nation.

Huge Brawl Breaks Out In Cruise Terminal Leading To Mass Bans

Chaos erupted at Galveston Cruise Port on Saturday, 26th April 2025, when a violent altercation broke out among passengers returning from a Carnival cruise.

Guests had just disembarked Carnival Jubilee following a 7-night Western Caribbean sailing, which departed from Galveston on 19th April 2025, when a large brawl began in the luggage collection area.

Carnival Jubilee port brawl

Footage shared online shows a group of passengers assaulting at least two others while bystanders, including children, looked on. Carnival Cruise Line confirmed the incident and issued a strong statement.

The cruise line confirmed that the matter had been reported to law enforcement, and that 24 people had been placed on the Do Not Sail list. This bans them not just from Carnival, but also from sister brands such as P&O Cruises, Holland America Line, and Princess Cruises.

The fight escalated quickly, migrating from the baggage hall to the customs area, with security personnel initially struggling to regain control. In the footage, one officer can be seen being forcefully shoved backwards while attempting to intervene.

The identities of those involved have not yet been released, and no arrests or injuries have been formally reported. However, witnesses and other cruise passengers have been vocal in calling for lifetime bans and legal consequences.

Passengers also claimed that other fights had broken out during the voyage, including incidents on Decks 4 and 10, with the latter allegedly causing property damage. It is not yet clear if those fights are connected to the disembarkation brawl.

Carnival’s Zero-Tolerance Policy on Violence

Carnival Cruise Line has a strict Code of Conduct that all guests must agree to during the check-in process.

The code makes clear that disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated and could result in fines, confinement to a stateroom or ship’s brig, removal from the ship, and a permanent ban.

“Consistent with our commitment to safety, disruptive behaviour is not tolerated and any guest whose conduct affects the comfort, enjoyment, safety or well-being of other guests or crew will be disembarked at their own expense and banned from sailing on Carnival in the future,”

Carnival’s Code of Conduct

In this latest case, the 24 banned passengers now face additional consequences as the incident took place within the port facility itself, placing it under the jurisdiction of the Port of Galveston Police Department.

Charges of assault and battery could be filed, with potential penalties including fines ranging from $500 to $10,000, and jail sentences of up to one year or more.

This is not the first time Carnival has enforced tough measures against violent guests. In 2023, following a similar brawl aboard Carnival Paradise, all individuals involved were permanently banned from the cruise line.

Carnival Jubilee, the line’s newest Excel-class ship, carries 6,500 passengers and is one of the largest vessels sailing from Galveston.

Despite this unfortunate incident, millions of guests enjoy safe and enjoyable holidays with Carnival each year.

Victory Casino Cruises – Everything You Need To Know

If you’re curious about Victory Casino Cruises, you’re not alone! Whether you’re thinking about hopping aboard or just wondering what it’s all about, I’ve got you covered.

From gambling and dining to setting sail on the open water, here’s everything you need to know about this one-of-a-kind cruise experience.

Victory Casino Cruises

What To Expect On A Victory Casino Cruise

A Victory Casino Cruise is a bit different to what most people think of as a cruise. You could say that it’s more about the journey than the destination. In fact, there is no destination, and the journey is to get beyond Florida’s state borders so that you can legally gamble.

A Victory Casino Cruise is all about gambling (as you probably guessed from the name!). These short cruises depart twice daily from Port Canaveral on a ship that is completely decked out for all your gambling needs.

There are over 600 slot machines and 27 live casino table games. The live games include roulette, craps, blackjack, 3 card poker, and Texas Hold ‘em amongst others and they have bingo and a sportsbook. Basically, they have all your gambling needs covered.

It’s not all high-stakes gambling, though. Many of the tables have $5-15 minimum bets so hopefully you’ll be able to make your cash last for the duration of the cruise.

You may be surprised to learn that you can gamble on board Victory Casino Cruises from the age of 18. This means you can gamble on board the Victory three years earlier than you can in Las Vegas. The drinking laws are the same though, so you will need to be 21 to drink alcoholic drinks during your cruise.

The ship itself is called The Victory and is 300 feet long and has 4 decks. The Victory can carry up to 1200 passengers.

Check out this video for a tour of the ship…

Other Onboard Activities

You may want to do more than just gamble on board, so Victory Casino Cruises also provides a range of restaurants and bars, as well as Big Norms Club V entertainment lounge, which has a dance floor and live DJs. If you’re keen on music and dancing, it’s worth going on a Friday or Saturday night when there’s a bigger focus on the entertainment program.

It’s possible to smoke on board the Victory, but only on the outside areas of Deck 4. There is no smoking inside at all.

If you happen to time your voyage (or more likely plan your trip) to coincide with a rocket launch from the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, you will be able to enjoy a great unimpeded view from the Victory. The ship doesn’t travel that far from the shoreline, so you are pretty close to all the action.

Cruise Length

Victory Casino Cruises last for 5-6 hours. They currently leave twice a day every day of the week, except for Mondays, so you can choose between a morning or evening departure. The Friday and Saturday evening voyages are slightly longer.

It’s worth noting that for around 45 minutes at the start of the voyage, and again at the end, you will not be able to gamble. This is because you have to be over 3 miles from the coast before it’s legal to gamble.

The All Important Cost

Victory Casino Cruises cost $20 per person. For this price, you get to board the ship and make use of the facilities, but there is no food included. You will have to pay extra for drinks at the bar, but you’ll get free drinks while gambling.

It used to be possible to buy a combined ticket that granted you access to the ship and also included food from the buffet. These aren’t currently available, but it’s possible that they will be reintroduced in the future.

You get free drinks while you are gambling, but you’ll need to tip your waiter, or you can expect to be ignored for the rest of the journey.

Dining Options

On Victory Casino Cruises, you have three eateries to choose from. The Atlantic Cafe is where you can purchase things like tossed salad, sandwiches, quesadillas, chicken wings, burgers, and desserts from the menu. Most mains cost $14, and desserts are around $10. Not bad.

The Sportsbook Lounge has an extensive a la carte menu to choose from. The lounge is decked out with wall-to-wall TV screens showing sporting events and video poker.

The Dolphin Bar is a bit more drink-focused but also offers light eats. The Dolphin Bar is a good place to visit if you want to enjoy the ocean and sunset views.

Soft drinks, tea and coffee are complimentary. You have to pay for alcoholic drinks when you’re not actively gambling, but these are pretty reasonably priced, with cocktails costing around $7.

There is currently no buffet available on board Victory Casino Cruises. It’s something that they used to offer for a reasonable price, but all restaurants are now a la carte.

The food has very mixed reviews online. Around half of the reviewers say it’s good and half say it’s not, so it really depends on what you like to eat, I guess.

Bus Transportation

It’s possible to arrange transportation to the ship directly with Victory Casino Cruises. You need to book and pay at least 24 hours in advance. The charge is a pretty reasonable $20 for a round trip.

There are four different bus routes across Florida with various stops along the way; these start in The Villages, Orlando and Palm Coast to the north of Cape Canaveral. Depending on demand, you may travel in a van, minibus or coach. These vehicles are wheelchair accessible.

Hotels Near Victory Casino Cruises

If the bus transportation doesn’t work for you or if you want to turn your Victory Casino cruise into a longer trip, you may like the idea of staying near the port before or after your cruise. After all, there are so many cool things to do in Cape Canaveral.

Here are the places I recommend to stay:

Best Luxury Hotel: Cape Crossing Resort & Marina

This place is great if you are looking for a bit of luxury! It’s located in Merritt Island, about 7 miles away from the cruise terminal. You can enjoy a dip in the outdoor swimming pool, work out in the fitness center, or just chill in the shared lounge.

Closest Hotel: Holiday Inn Express Cape Canaveral

This hotel is super close to where you board the ship. But before you head off (or after) you can take a dip in the outdoor swimming pool, or visit the fitness center.

Best Budget Hotel: Budget Inn Cocoa

This appropriately named hotel is a great option if you’re looking to save some cash. It’s located in Cocoa, about 15 miles away from Port Canaveral. It’s not a fancy place but you’ll get everything you need including free WiFi and free private parking. All rooms come equipped with a desk, a flat-screen TV, and a private bathroom.

The Bottom Line

So there you have it – everything you ever wanted to know about Victory Casino Cruises. They are certainly a good option if you are looking for an inexpensive way to gamble in Florida.

A short trip out to sea is definitely a quicker option than heading to Vegas. The ship itself may be looking a little tired, but there is a wealth of gambling options on board and plenty of chances for you to win big.

If you do lose all your chips, you can always console yourself by enjoying some stunning views of the Space Coast.
