A man was filmed chasing a cruise ship down the pier after it had already departed… Only to realise he was actually running towards the wrong ship.
The video, shared online by Jordan Flom, shows a man dodging around crowds as he dashes towards Crown Princess, even though the ship has already started to sail away.
However, his friend catches up to him and points out that he’s not actually sailing on that ship, and that his cruise ship behind him is still docked.
The man seems extremely relieved as the many onlookers cheers and laughed, with the guest then bowing to his sudden audience, embracing the embarrassment of the moment.
It seems odd that someone would forget which ship they were sailing on, so there is a chance the man was just pretending for a joke.
But if you see a cruise ship sailing away and you are already nervous about making it back – especially if he’s someone lucky enough to cruise regularly and potentially forget which ship he’s currently on – then it could definitely be something that happened.
If it is fake, he puts in quite the performance and still deserves the attention he’s received!

One of Carnival’s cruise lines refueled a cruise ship with 100% renewable Bio Marine Fuel yesterday for the first time.
Our free cruise newsletter offers the latest news and deals: Sign Up
AIDA Cruises tested the fuel in AIDAPrima while the ship was in Rotterdam. The cruise line is testing the performance to see if it can be used in regular ship operations.
The Bio Marine Fuel (BMF100) sustainable biofuel supplied by VARO Energy is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions minimum of 85% compared to conventional fossil fuels.
The testing for this fuel will be on upcoming cruises from Hamburg that cruise to the fjords of Norway.
AIDA Cruises President Felix Eichhorn, gave the following statement:
“We are focused on identifying advanced fuels and technologies we can use to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In our search for the fuel mix of the future, we have been gathering valuable experience through trials using various biofuels since 2022, and we continue to closely cooperate with experts from industry and science to develop new approaches to continuously reduce emissions.
“In order to achieve a sustainable future, we need a growing supply of biofuels and other low-carbon alternative fuels – available globally at scale and at marketable prices.”
Sacha Konan, Country President / VP Commercial Benelux & France at VARO Energy, added:
“Since 2019 VARO has successfully developed, blended, and supplied a diverse range of biofuels for marine bunkering. Our products include B30/B100, HVO (up to 100 percent) and various low FAME biofuel blends. We are excited to supply AIDAprima, working with AIDA and Carnival Corporation & plc, the world’s largest cruise company.
“This operation, taking place near our Rotterdam office, reflects our ongoing efforts to support marine customers in their decarbonization journey as the industry adapts to new regulations. We look forward to continuing our work with AIDA and expanding our biofuel offerings in the ARA region and beyond.”
Greece is set to introduce a €20 fee for cruise ship passengers visiting its most popular islands, including Santorini and Mykonos.
This move aims to manage the large number of tourists and protect the local environments of these beautiful places. The fee will vary depending on the island and the season, with higher charges for Santorini and Mykonos and lower fees for other islands like Rhodes, Corfu, and Crete’s port of Heraklion.
During busy tourist seasons, the charges will be higher to help manage the increased number of visitors, while off-peak seasons will see lower fees to encourage tourism during quieter times.
To further control the number of tourists, the Greek government plans to limit the number of cruise ships allowed to dock at these popular islands, especially during busy seasons.
Starting in 2025, Santorini will cap the number of cruise passengers at 8,000 per day. A digital system will be used to manage the arrival of cruise ships, spreading out ship arrivals throughout the day to prevent overcrowding and ensure a more pleasant experience for visitors.
The cruise industry in Greece is expected to see a 20% increase in arrivals in 2024, bringing more than 8 million passengers to the country.
Local authorities, including Santorini Mayor Nikos Zorzos, support these measures to limit cruise visitors, although they know that cruise lines will need to adjust their schedules, which are often planned years in advance, to follow these new rules.
The idea of a day-tripper fee is not new. Earlier this year, Venice implemented a similar fee, charging day visitors €5 to access the island.
This trial generated more than €2.4 million in less than three months, leading to proposals to double the fee in 2025.
The expected benefits of Greece’s new fee structure may inspire other popular tourist destinations to implement similar measures, helping to manage tourist numbers and protect local environments, ensuring sustainable tourism for the future.

Tropical Storm Francine has formed in the Gulf of Mexico and is causing concern for cruise passengers in the area.
It started as Potential Tropical Cyclone Six and quickly became a named storm. This makes it the sixth named storm of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season.
The warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico give the storm energy, and the low wind shear helps it keep its structure. Experts predict that Francine will become a hurricane by Wednesday, 11th September 2024.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is keeping a close eye on Tropical Storm Francine and has issued warnings for the Gulf Coast.
The latest forecast says Francine will make landfall between East Texas and western Louisiana by Wednesday night. The storm is expected to bring dangerous conditions, including severe storm surges, heavy rain, and hurricane-force winds.
The Texas coastline, especially near the Port of Galveston, is expected to be one of the hardest-hit areas by Tropical Storm Francine. The Port of Galveston is a major hub for cruise ships, and the storm could disrupt cruise schedules and affect the safety of passengers and crew.
The Louisiana coastline, including the Port of New Orleans, is also expected to be significantly impacted by Tropical Storm Francine.
Carnival could be the cruise line most impacted by the storm. Carnival Breeze, Carnival Dream and Carnival Jubilee are all sailing to/from Galveston at this time, while Carnival Valor and Carnival Liberty are sailing from New Orleans.
Other ships that may be impacted include Harmony of the Seas and Mariner of the Seas for Royal Caribbean.

Carnival Cruise Line is beginning to reveal its 2026/2027 deployment plans and today announced the first wave of sailings for summer 2026, including cruises to some of summertime’s most sought after destinations in Europe and Alaska, as well as the first time Carnival guests can take part in a special solar eclipse cruise. Reservations for these new summer 2026 Europe and Alaska sailings open today.
See Europe and Sail Under Eclipse Aboard Carnival Legend
For the first time, Carnival is introducing a special 11-day Carnival Journeys Eclipse cruise featuring stops in Spain, Portugal and France on Carnival Legend departing from Dover, England on August 9, 2026. The total solar eclipse will occur on Aug. 12, 2026, when the ship is at sea, providing guests with a prime viewing vantage point for this rare celestial occurrence. Ports of call on this bucket list voyage include Le Havre (Paris), France; St. Peter Port, Guernsey; Vigo, Spain; Lisbon and Leixões (Porto), Portugal; Le Verdon (Bordeaux), France; and Zeebrugge (Brussels), Belgium.
“The chance to see a total solar eclipse while having fun exploring the cultural richness of Spain, Portugal and France aboard Carnival Legend, is a truly special opportunity – among a lineup of many phenomenal cruises,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “And as the popularity of Carnival Legend’s 2024 Europe sailings prove, it’s never too soon for our loyal guests to start planning their next summer vacation.”
Carnival Legend’s summer 2026 season in Europe begins with a 14-day transatlantic voyage that departs Miami on May 24, 2026, and visits Liverpool, England; Holyhead, Wales; and Dun Laoghaire (Dublin), Ireland before arriving in Dover (London), England. While homeporting in Europe, Carnival Legend will sail nine cruises from Dover, with varied itineraries that span 9-12 days, and six cruises of either nine- or 12-day itineraries from Civitavecchia (Rome).
From Dover, Northern Europe sailings showcase destinations such as Copenhagen and Amsterdam. The ship will also cruise the British Isles, with several stops in ports across Ireland, England and Scotland, in addition to one cruise with four stops in Iceland. Scandinavia and Baltic cruises offer visits to Germany, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Belgium while Western Europe ports include those in Portugal, Spain and France.
From Civitavecchia, nine-day and 12-day sailings will bring guests to popular destinations across Italy, the Greek Isles, Turkey and Croatia. Ports of call from Civitavecchia include Istanbul and Kusadasi (Ephesus) in Turkey; Piraeus (Athens) and Mykonos in Greece; and Naples (Amalfi/Pompeii), Italy; Split and Dubrovnik, Croatia. The ship’s final cruise from Europe in 2026 will be a 14-day Carnival Journeys voyage departing Nov. 1, 2026, from Civitavecchia to Tampa, Fla., with visits to Cartagena and Malaga, Spain; Gibraltar; and Bermuda.
Alaska Cruises from Seattle Aboard Carnival Spirit and Carnival Miracle
Carnival Miracle will join Carnival Spirit sailing from Seattle to Alaska in summer 2026. The itineraries available today are Seattle embarkations only. Carnival will once again offer Alaska itineraries from San Francisco in 2026, and those itineraries will be available this Fall.
Seven-day Alaska sailings departing every Thursday on Carnival Miracle begin on May 7, 2026. Carnival Miracle will cruise Tracy Arm Fjord and visit Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan, Alaska, as well as Victoria, British Columbia. Also available are two special Carnival Journeys sailings aboard Carnival Miracle. A nine-day cruise adds more time aboard the ship as guests explore the natural wonder of the region’s Inside Passage and an added visit to Sitka, Alaska. A similar 10-day Carnival Journeys cruise to the Inside Passage also visits Icy Strait Point, Alaska.
Alaska sailings on Carnival Spirit also offer cruising of Tracy Arm Fjord and stops in Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan, Alaska, as well as Victoria, British Columbia. The sailings begin April 28, 2026, and continue through Sept. 15, 2026. When Carnival Spirit returns to Seattle on Sept. 23, 2026, the ship will embark guests on a 15-day round-trip Carnival Journeys cruise to Hawaii, with stops in Honolulu, Oahu; Nawiliwili, Kauai; Kahului, Maui and Hilo, Hawaii; as well as a visit to Victoria, British Columbia in Canada.
Also new are four Carnival Journeys cruises that transit the Panama Canal to reposition Carnival Miracle and Carnival Spirit before and after the summer in Alaska. The cruises feature visits to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Puntarenas, Costa Rica; and Cartagena, Colombia. Carnival Spirit’s 16-day Carnival Journeys cruises take the ship to Seattle from its Mobile, Ala. homeport on April 12, 2026 then back to Mobile with an Oct. 8, 2026 departure. These are the first Carnival cruises connecting the two cities of Seattle and Mobile. Carnival Miracle will reposition with guests on board from Tampa, Fla. on April 11, 2026 and depart Seattle Sept. 26, 2026 on 16-day Carnival Journeys Panama Canal repositioning cruise ending in Galveston, Tex.

Cruise pricing can be tricky sometimes. It’s been a bit more simplified thanks to a new transparency law in California that requires companies to include taxes and fees in their advertised prices.
Our free cruise newsletter offers the latest news and deals: Sign Up
But even with taxes and fees included, there are often many other amenities that are not included. And unless you’re sailing with an all-inclusive cruise line, these costs can sneak up on you.
Oceania Cruises, known for its luxurious small-ship cruises, has just announced that gratuities will now be included in its “Your World Included” packages.
Currently, gratuities with the cruise line are set at $18 and up to $23 per day, per cabin, with the higher recommended price being set for the higher cabin categories.
This move also transitions away from the “simply MORE” pricing package.
But two other amenities are also being excluded from the listed price with Oceania. The complimentary beverage package and shore excursion credit will not be included in the pricing for “Your World Included”.
President of Oceania Cruises, Frank Del Rio, said that the move was based on cruise passenger comments.
“Oceania Cruises’ promise to show our guests Your World, Your Way has been at the heart of our business since we launched more than 20 years ago. The change has come following feedback from guests, highlighting that they would prefer that we include amenities valued by all versus amenities valued by some,” he stated.
So what else is included in the new “Your World Included” pricing?
The package includes crew gratuities, specialty dining, sodas and juices, specialty coffees and teas, still and sparkling water, unlimited Wi-Fi, laundry services, group fitness classes, and fruit smoothies and gelato, just to name a few.
When does the change go into effect?
The new “Your World Included” package will apply to all new bookings made after October 1, 2024, for sailings departing on or after January 1, 2025. Guests who book before October 1 will continue to receive the “simply MORE” package.
Frank Del Rio believes the new changes are exactly what the cruise line’s clientele have been wanting.
“Not surprisingly, our guests place the greatest value on our core inclusions such as free specialty dining and free Wi-Fi; including gratuities creates the richest possible array of amenities and benefits for our guests globally,” Del Rio added.
Viking® (NYSE: VIK) has taken delivery of the company’s newest ship for the Nile River, the Viking Hathor. The delivery ceremony occurred when the new ship was presented at the Massara shipyard in Cairo, Egypt. The 82-guest Viking Hathor joins the company’s growing fleet of state-of-the-art vessels for the Nile River and will sail Viking’s popular 12-day Pharaohs & Pyramids itinerary.
“We are proud to welcome the Viking Hathor to our award-winning river fleet,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman and CEO of Viking. “With its abundance of cultural treasures and ancient antiquities, Egypt has always been a destination of great interest to curious travelers, including our guests. We believe our ships are by far the most elegant vessels sailing the Nile River, and we look forward to introducing even more explorers to this fantastic destination in the years to come.”
The Viking Hathor & Viking’s Growing Egypt Fleet
Hosting 82 guests in 41 staterooms, the new Viking Hathor is inspired by Viking’s award-winning river and ocean ships with the elegant Scandinavian design for which Viking is known. An identical sister ship to the Viking Osiris and the Viking Aton, the Viking Hathor features several aspects familiar to Viking guests, such as a distinctive square bow and an indoor/outdoor Aquavit Terrace. Additional ships in the Egypt fleet include the Viking Ra and the MS Antares.
Viking’s Pharaohs & Pyramids Itinerary
During the 12-day Pharaohs & Pyramidsitinerary, guests begin with a three-night stay at a first-class hotel in Cairo, where they can visit iconic sites such as the Great Pyramids of Giza, the necropolis of Sakkara, the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, or the Grand Egyptian Museum. Guests then fly to Luxor, where they visit the Temples of Luxor and Karnak before boarding a Viking river ship for an eight-day roundtrip cruise on the Nile River, featuring visits to the tomb of Nefertari in the Valley of the Queens and the tomb of Tutankhamun in the Valley of the Kings, and excursions to the Temple of Khnum in Esna, the Dendera Temple complex in Qena, the temples at Abu Simbel and the High Dam in Aswan, and a visit to a colorful Nubian village, where guests can experience a traditional elementary school. Finally, the journey concludes with a flight back to Cairo for a final night in the ancient city.
Viking is rated #1 for Rivers, as well as #1 for Oceans and #1 for Expeditions, by Condé Nast Traveler in the most recent Readers’ Choice Awards. Recently, the Viking Aton was also named one of the “Best New Cruises” in Condé Nast Traveler’s “Hot List 2024,” and the VikingOsiris was named one of the “Best New Cruises” in the “Hot List 2023,” as well as the “Best Luxury River Cruise of 2024” in Forbes’ “Best Luxury Cruises” list. Additionally, TIME magazine featured both Giza and Saqqara on its “World’s Greatest Places” 2023 list, mentioning sailing the Nile River with Viking. TIME notes that Viking is among the very few who stop in both Giza and the village of Sakkara, where excavation sites, like the megatombs of animal and human mummies, are active.
For guests looking to extend their journey in Egypt, Viking also offers Pre and Post Extensions that provide Privileged Access to archives and exhibits. Guests on the five-day British Collections of Ancient Egyptextension will begin the journey in London, where they will meet their Viking Tour Director, an expert Egyptologist, and experience Privileged Access to two museums: first a private, early morning visit to the Egyptian Collection at the British Museum before it opens to the general public – and then a visit to the home and personal museum of world-renowned architect, Sir John Soane, where the tour will be illuminated by candlelight, a re-enactment of how Soane entertained guests and showcased his exquisite collection of Egyptian antiquities, including a 3,000-year-old Egyptian sarcophagus. Guests will also visit London’s Petrie Museum, which houses more than 80,000 artifacts from ancient # and Sudan. In Oxford, guests will visit the Ashmolean Museum, one of the oldest in the world, and home to a varied collection of Egyptian mummies and art—and go behind the scenes at Oxford University’s Griffith Institute, where they will enjoy a Privileged Access visit to see Howard Carter’s archives, which detail the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb. Lastly, guests will have further Privileged Access with an exclusive visit to Highclere Castle to view the Earl of Carnarvon’s magnificent private collection of Egyptian artifacts, as well as archives and exhibits not normally accessible to the public.
Additional offerings include a three-night Pre-Extension in Istanbul, where guests can visit the timeless city and important religious sites including the “Blue Mosque” and the legendary Hagia Sophia. After concluding the river voyage, guests can also extend the journey with a 4-night Post-Extension to Jordan—Petra, Dead Sea & Amman to view Roman antiquities at Jerash, Crusader-era castles at Kerak or Shobak and experience the lost city of Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
I am currently on a seven-night cruise with Virgin Voyages that is part of the cruise line’s Virgin Celebration Cruises.

This roundtrip cruise out of Barcelona has special guests with appearances that include Sir Richard Branson and Boy George. After spending a few days on board, here are my brief first impressions of the cruise.
Virgin Voyages invited me onboard for this special sailing and it is my first time cruising with them in Europe.
One of first things I’ve noticed is that Virgin Voyages has made some good changes from when they first starting sailing in 2021. I was on their first ever sailing and the experience on board is now so much better. It’s a night and day difference.
I will cover this more in depth after I get home from the cruise. I’m glad to see that are no longer trying to be edgy or provocative and now offer things that cruisers (Sailors is what they are called on Virgin) want.
The food on Virgin continues to rank among the best of all the mainstream cruise lines. All restaurants are included, although there are a few items that come with a surcharge. But most of the menu has no extra charges.
I ate at Extra Virgin last night and it’s without a doubt the best Italian restaurant that I have dined at on a cruise ship.
There’s no main dining room, just specialty restaurants and casual eateries that are all included in cruise fares.
There is food all over the ship, The Dock is an awesome spot for lunch when you are at sea.
The crew have been a highlight of the cruise so far. They have been fantastic in every way. A special shoutout to Laurence at the Casino Bar, can’t say enough good things about him.
Virgin Voyages’ CEO, Nirmal Saverimuttu, just held a talk with sailors and he gave some insight on why the crew on Virgin is so awesome. He said that they’ve created a culture for them to thrive and it’s evident all around the ship.
They take a different approach than every other cruise line. Crew members can be themselves they are managed by exception rather than rules. This creates a better experience for guests.
I’ll have more on this later, back to the cruise ship.
One of my favorite parts of the ship is Richard’s Rooftop. This exclusive area at the top front of the ship is reserved for Rockstar Sailors. It’s a great relaxing space and one of the quietest spots on the ship.
You can see a few photos from this area in my X post below.
I have a Central Sea Terrace cabin on deck 9. I love that Virgin has a hammock on every balcony. It may sound like a gimmick but greatly enhances having a balcony. I love to sit in it drinking a cup of coffee each morning.
I rarely spend time on my balcony on cruises but find myself out there a lot more than usual due to the hammock. Every cruise line should add them.
I also love how a tablet in the room controls everything from the curtains, to lights, to the TV. You can control your entire room without getting out of bed.
I forgot how much fun Scarlet Night is, and I am not a party person. It’s so cool to walk around the ship when it’s all lit up in red. While most cruise lines have parties in one area of the ship, this one takes over everywhere.
I will write more about this sailing after the cruise is over so stay tuned for that. We have a sea day today and I want to get out and enjoy what the ship has to offer.
You can follow along on my cruise on social media (@CruiseFever for all).
